From the posts by citizens of Iran, they are doing the Trump Dance!  I hope they live long enough to know what a free democratic country feels like.  Unfortunately the country was taken over years ago by religious Zealots who use the country for their own purposes, not the best interests of the citizens. If an American sneaked over their border for any reason, they would be either beheaded without a trial or held in a horrible prison for ransom, then publicly beheaded.  The religious clerics have been killing US Soldiers and individuals, not to mention thousands of citizens who even vaguely disagree.  They also hunt down and then murder their families.  It's into the 10 thousands of people now, possibly as high as 36,000.  The fact that the citizens can even show their faces in the streets is because the murderers have been driven underground and the military killed.

They finally have a chance to create a democratic government of their own.  May God bless them with strength and fortitude to create peace.

I've been reading about the past history of the Persians, the native Iranians, and the turbulent history of Iran.  Up to 1947, when Jimmy Carter was the President, they had experienced a relatively good bit of growth in the personal freedoms of the citizens, but not in the political sector.  Then it hit the fan and the exiled Shah Pahlovi was out, the insane Islamic Clerics were in.  Out went the personal freedoms and the ability to communicate with their government.  Women were sent back into hiding their kitchens, and going out or doing anything in public was pretty much outlawed. The government went from helping their people grow to growing their own power structure and money.  They have kissed up to the brutes of the countries around them and conspired to commit murder and destruction on anyone they don't like for whatever reason.  The old Shah would like to come back but needs to learn a lot about how to do his job in a modern world.  Maybe he has, or maybe he is too bitter to be objective yet strong.

I'm all in favor with a country having a good bond with a kind and tolerant religious backdrop, but not with religious murderers of their own people.  This is where the radical Islamists need to go, permanently, and where a group of nations need to tutor any new leader on how to work with the rest of the world while building the country strongly yet gently into growth that will last in industry and human resources. You better be praying that this happens and that it lasts.  Yes, God is in control of the earth but he is not a god who kills those with whom He dissents. He is the ultimate in freedom of choice and blessings for the future.
