  1. Your pictures made my day! Thanks for posting and identifying. Can you recommend a bird book? I have one I can't identify among every sparrow there can be in our area. I've had more of a variety of birds this year than I've ever had. I can't seem to keep the chickodees here though. I'm thinking enjoying the birds come with age???
  2. I found it!!! I must have stumped you because there weren't any replies. Here it is. I hope you all like it as much as we do. http://www.recipegoldmine.com/canvegK/quick-pickles.html I use this site a lot (ah lot, alot) P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
  3. All this talk about gardening has made me hungry for pickles. Awhile back on the main message board there was a thread for Clausen-type pickles, but it must have been purged and I can't find my recipe. I remember soaking the cucumbers in a salt brine over night. I googled it, but nothing is close.
  4. I absolutely love that!!!! I got a few "old fashioned" purple and pink seeds from my mother years ago. I collected the seeds at the end of the season faithfully. Two years ago, I decided to do red, white and blue morning glories and didn't plant my purple and pink. The red, white and blue ones didn't thrive so now I only have purple and pink seeds that are 3 years old. Do you think they will grow? I found seed packets close to what I had, but want my mom's old faithful's back.
  5. What brand is it? I used the cheap 99 cent suet blocks and then tried the peanut suet and it didn't seem to attract anymore.
  6. We tried something different this year. We bought a liquid that you mix according to the diameter of the tree and pour around the base of the tree. So far, so good. I'm want to try the recipe Lavender posted for my herb garden. (I wonder what my dog will think of the concoxion.)
  7. If your camera's book is anything like mine, the book doesn't help. Take out the pages of foreign languages and all that is left is goobly-gook. I've stumbled on features accidentily. I couldn't tell you if I have a macro mode. If I do, I haven't stumbled on that yet.
  8. I miss a bouquet of lilacs. I always cut a bouquet from a field in the neighborhood, but new owners just built on the land and they dozed the bushes. Can anyone identify the bird at the feeder? My feeders have been visited by a lot of different birds this spring. That was one of them.
  9. As it turned out, we didn't have to trap it. It died under my back porch. Luckily, it was only there 1 day before we discovered it. I can't understand why the smell isn't unbearable. I only smell skunk once in awhile when the wind kicks up.
  10. Thanks- found it and called. He's coming tomorrow. He was way cheaper than the first name I called.
  11. Anyone else having problems? It sprayed under my back porch. I got rid of the worst smell, but when the wind kicks up, I can still smell it. If you know of trapper, will you pm me with a name ? Thanks
  12. My son is heading to that area in the fall. I'm hoping the other decision maker thinks warm climate sounds good for the retirement years. I think I could deal with missing the first snowfall when I look out my window and see my driveway lined with hibiscus.
  13. Yes, I'd like to put it back outside. I leanrned my lesson last year about gradually... although for this one, I think I'll wait until I'm sure the nights are very warm. The transplanting will be a 2 man job as the shoots are vined up a 3 foot trellis. To think we have to go to all this trouble and I saw beautiful poinsettias and hibiscus growing like trees outside while on our vacation in the Caribbean Islands in January.
  14. Of the three sprouts, two of them grew and are climbing. The plant looks healthy, but delicate. If I would have know this, I would have put it in a nicer pot.
  15. Lavender, How is the flower coming? Looks like you have some healthy plants to keep it company.
