mollycan got a reaction from redmill in City of DuBois Police Chief
Too bad this has happened. Good or bad reasons chances are it's going to create bad thoughts in everyones mind.

People don't want to (nor should they) want to give money when there are so many issues going on. It is a damn shame.

The entire mess will be a daily nightmare till it gets settled regardless of who is involved, and those involved right now will certainly not be fun to be working with.
Get the point now? Some of us can sympathize with his situation.
No one wants to work in a stressful situation, and this one is beyond stressful regardless of who they would be working with..

What gets me is that she is making Sandy Townships request for a temporary injunction look like a major case. All she is doing is trying to get more billable hours from the city. A first year law student could see that it isn't a major case but she can't.

mollycan reacted to disgruntled in Dubois Council members
According to a Facebook post I saw last evening, the most likely next Mayor of DuBois, Pat Reasinger, has been tapped to fill the council seat vacated by Ms. Gabriel. Hopefully Mr. Reasinger can help to get the city steered back to some semblance of sanity soon and we won't have to wait until January for things to start making sense. It won't be an easy task, but hopefully it goes well.

If things were taken care of in the way they should have been, this would not be such a mess. One person taking care of everything..with no checks n balances by no others ...crazy!

BEFORE any new councilmen are placed on the board, the city voters should be allowed to set up what the councilmen get, and WHAT THEY DON'T. Giving them all of these extensive rewards opens them to pressure on votes and makes them bend to pressure in order to keep their job. Council isn't about a job, it's about service to the community!

Can you all imagine the great movie that could be made by following all the players in this example of small town politics from their birth til now? The truth that could be exposed would be mind boggling.

Yes. I remember when the Cherry name was an honorable name. I would hope this for most of them has not changed. They were good people.

The original family was Ed, Joe, Grace, John, Louis, Francis and a couple more whose names I can't remember.
Ed was a lawyer (extremely honorable) and served as the City Solicitor. I think, 4 children, 3 girls, one last boy. Toni is his daughter. At least one of her sisters work with her.
Joe was like the head of the family, earning money and making sure the kids all got educations in good jobs.
Grace was a nurse for Dr LJ Cherry a well know General Practitioner and Surgeon in our area. There was another sister also.
Francis dealt with financial matters. He even went to homes to do taxes.
John was Judge John Cherry, an extraordinary man and legal entity with a beautiful heart.
I am proud to have known all of them. They worked hard and were for the common man, not the high and mighty. They were all very personable, kind, hard-working and would even come to a barn dance or housewarming if invited.
Most of the grandchildren have soaked into the woodwork of life other than Judge Paul Cherry.
Toni was raised to be elegant, socially accepted anywhere, well-educated but does not seem to have followed some of the traits of her family. She seems to be more driven, stressed and private. When Herm first asked her to become the City Solicitor, she refused (according to the newspaper). For some reason she finally agreed. Now she is here, in the news, possibly in a pile of trouble, definitely a mess.
Just my memories and opinion.

Trzyna was not a horrible city manager. He did a good job while he was there and moved on to something better. He is speaking up because he knows more about the job than most of us would since he once did it.

Please stop what you are doing and pray for this family if you're the praying kind. They need to feel the love this area has for all of them.
Thank you

Individuals that know the law much better than you do are put in the positions for a reason.
yes,yes they are.....and those people are taking him to court....
did you hear bonuses were paid to city employees and it seems DuBois is one of if not the ONLY city to do that......that is tax payer money GIVEN to elected officials which shouldnt happen

The state will have a hand in setting up a new council and regulations to make sure this mafia style action isn't allowed to happen again. Maybe mutual respect will actually become part of our lifestyle. From the lowliest hidden home in the vale, to the grand mansions who think they are the norm and actually deserve special amenities, maybe they will see what has happened and develop some common sense, respect and compassionate values for all.
Hern was probably once a normal man long ago before his head got filled with whatever rot caused this situation. I didn't know him then, but I could see that he cared for the city's best interests till he seemed to worry more about the flashiness of the city and his own ego. The kids used to be the reason for the sports in the area till the games HAD to be winners, and bigger and bigger! For gambling? Now kids can't even play unless they have enough money to join and are good enough to be a winner? What about the kids who have no serious athletic skills and end up walking away from the game, hurt and alone till they meet a bunch of other aggravated kids to hang with? When do they get to play team sports and improve?
When will the leaders realize that this life is about growing plain old families, and jobs to support them. A reasonable amount of social fluff is fine as long as the basics are taken care of first. What about the minds of our children? What are they supposed to think when what's going on now is what they have to look forward to? When do they get to grow and dream of a good life of personal success and happiness, not just a life of things.
