  1. Awesome! I just watched the video and listened to the radio interview. Doesn't sound like a hoax.
  2. A distant relative in NY and I have been trying to figure out where this was for some time. An ancestor lived with relatives (the Collins family) near Edgemont Park, Falls Creek when he died ca. 1909. We thought it was located in the area somewhere near Taylor Ave. If that picture is from a post card, it is probably the one she has. Thanks for posting.
  3. I find this article informative. The whole article is interesting and this paragraph mentions lack of remains. "There are many skeptics; their concerns are legitimate. Skeptics demand to know why no skeletal remains have been found; they want to know why no hunters have killed one, or why no driver has collided with one on a secluded country highway. Would not a large primate, skeptics ask, leave an undeniable, discernable mark on the environment in perhaps the same manner as mountain gorillas (Gorilla gorilla beringei)? Such questions are not invalid. Expecting skeptics to accept the likelihood of such a species existing beneath our proverbial noses may be asking just a tad too much. Nevertheless, the body of anecdotal accounts and accompanying evidence seems to indicate just such a possibility." http://texasbigfoot.com/index.php/about-bigfoot/articles/67-ecological-patterns
  4. In my opinion this is a good question for all the hunters reading this. "How many dead bodies/skeletons of wildlife do you observe in the wild?" The answer is very few. Bodies decompose or are eaten by misc. animals, bones are carried off and eaten or decompose. "Poof" No evidence.
  5. Playing with light. It's really difficult to note some of the changes because of the size of the photos when posted online. Interesting though. More 'orbs' on the right side when the background is lightened just a bit. Let your mind play, what do you see now?
  6. I looked in my Tombstone Hoppin' books and the only two listed by that surname, in either book, are buried at St. Mary's Cemetery (Rte 950) near Reynoldsville. If he was of the Catholic faith perhaps the church in Reynoldsville may be able to help you locate his burial place.
  7. Interesting. Yes, I see distinct faces in the first picture. What causes the cloud-like appearance? Do the tunnels have history of death associated with them?
  8. I think that was the great-great-granny's bedroom. She's still around sometimes, like a guardian angel. And I know what I saw and experienced where I worked. And I wasn't the only one, we would catch hell from our boss if we talked to new employees about it.
  9. That happens to me quite often. Like joe6 said, can never remember what comes next, though sometimes get a 'gut' feeling and go with it. I sometimes have very vivid dreams and later something will happen that I remember from a dream. You know how they say Moms have eyes in the back of their heads. Well, sometimes it works like that. People have made off hand remarks to me, twice happened, ended with horrible circumstances. I discovered years ago that I can sometimes concentrate on something towards someone in particular and make it happen with them thinking it was their idea. (Always something good, like going to KFC ... till they closed it down, boo hoo!) And yes, I see apparitions too. Been there, done that, worked among them. I sometimes wonder if it is something inherited or learned through study and experience. Can be very scary at times! So what are some of your experiences?
  10. Go figure...I click on your link and get so caught up in reading that I almost forgot to return. :ty:
  11. Great news for local researchers! Pennsylvania Probate Records are now on line. http://tinyurl.com/PAProbate
  12. A couple pictures from my mother's collection.
  13. That reminds me of my dad telling a story of how "Ben" was eaten by a bear. "Ben is ette" He called it "Bear ate Benny."
  14. I thought I would share this link, it may be of help to anyone doing genealogy in Clearfield County. This should open to a reader. You can turn the pages with the arrows at the bottom of the page. http://www.archive.org/stream/pennsylvaniaarc41instgoog#page/n11/mode/2up I have found amazing things at this website. http://openlibrary.org/ Insert what you are looking for in the search box and check "show only ebooks." I have looked at a lot of the Pennsylvania Archives, various county histories, genealogy interests from all over the world. I could spend all day reading. If a book is available to read online there is a little green open book image that you can click on. Some are even available to download to Kindle, if you click on the "i" at the top right side.
  15. I remembered this thread the other day when I found myself asking if anyone knew where there was a gumband!
  16. Does anyone have any knowledge of a Broadbent Martin Co. of DuBois, probably early 1900's. I just discovered a piece of furniture has backing with this stamped on it and it was apparently delivered by the Pa. RR. It looks like the pieces may have been packing crates that were used for the backing on a set of shelving. We were just curious, Thanks.
  17. The theater had been closed for a while and Harmon's was in what used to be the lobby. The theater was reopened for a short time in the '70's and the entry was at the rear door, on the alley. It didn't stay open long, but I took my youngin's there to see the original Star Wars movie! Also, I believe, the original Brookville theater was the only one in the US that one entered from behind the screen to be seated.
  18. I miss grandma telling us "Git in or git out and quit banging the screen door!"
  19. The swinging bridge over Sandy Lick creek, built by the Shawmut RR as a shortcut for workers who walked to work. It was removed when the "flood project" was done.
  20. Unknown #2 is taken from the end of Main Street toward Taylor Street. Altman's home/office is on the right front, directly behind the little roof on the side you can see the Litch house and "Litch Hill." The house on the front left was torn down years ago, my aunt lived in it at one time.
