fadedgenes reacted to Pompeii in ANY STORIES ON LOCAL LEGEND?
I got an email sent to me last night from Marcia Golubski who scanned a photo of Buzz with some local hill boys.
The local boys in the picture on the left are the Kutsel boys, Ron, Bobe & Mike. Vic Tiskus on the bottom middle and I'm not sure who the other two are.

Blue, Spike, No Name were eating the apple tree across the road from me. Blue started to chase the small bulls out onto the hwy, so I went out to get my mail. They went down into the flats.

I figured if you could get your finger out of the soil it would be a plus!

And those rubber over-the-shoe boots that either buckled or zipped and had fake sheep fur around the top. My grandma made me put bread bags over my shoes so they would slip on and off easier and keep my feet dry if there was a hole in the boot.

Remember when girls wore snow pants to school? We had to wear dresses and when it was cold we were allowed to wear snow pants under our skirts but had to take them off when we got to school. Times have really changed!

Idaho, they don't like noisy brakes on their hills. They spelled it wrong on the little green sign. They got The Falls nearby though. Interesting.

TU scores victory for brook trout in Pennsylvania's Twomile Run
TU stream sampling efforts recently turned up wild brook trout in Pennsylvania's Twomile Run, a stream in the Kettle Creek watershed that had been dead for decades due to abandoned mine drainage that was addressed by passive treatment systems.

With some projects, the results are immediately tangible. Take for instance a project where a mudsill is installed to provide cover and habitat for trout. I have observed the trout hiding out in the deep, shady pool under the mud sill the very next day after it was in place. The timeframe for the entire project to install a mudsill from initial project idea through to funding and permitting and finally to construction may take one or two years at the most -

fadedgenes reacted to Sanibel in 1st woolly bear caterpillar of the season
That wooly worm is the caterpillar of the Giant Leopard Moth. The moth will be bright white with big black spots. That wooly worm doesn't bite or sting. The regular black and rusty brown wooly worm doesn't bite or sting either and will turn into an Isabella Tiger Moth which is a pale orange with brown markings and not quite as showy. There are quite a few varieties of wooly worms in our area.
