Usually coins left on a stone or memorial have been left by a fellow serviceman.  Others sometimes leave coins or small stones/pebbles to show the family that someone has visited.  I enjoy visiting one grave where my parents are buried to see what is new.  Young fellow who died in an accident, friends leave him a beer, can of Skoal, etc.  Nice that he is being remembered.

Thanks for posting this.  I remember him well.  My dad used to gather up any snakes he came upon and take them to Bill, I always got to go along when he went to Bill's place so I could visit his zoo and listen to his stories.

was only 1 snake!! Just took pics at different angles. When I went by it, it was trying to cross the road. I wasn't looking for snakes, looking for deer!! When I went by it, I causght it out the corner of my eye and said Wiener Dog, that didn't look like a stick!! I put th car in reverse and backed up to where I saw it and seen it curled up!! It was pumping it's body up, but wasn't ratteling hhis tail, so I figured I was kinda safe. I love my zoom!!!!

I took these today before it rained.   This Rhody has different colored flowers on the same bush.  Probably needs something added to the soil to keep the color.

I remember my husband's whole family looking at me like a nut when I was picking beechnuts off the trees at camp and breaking them open to munch the seeds.(now they fight the squirrels and chipmunks to get to them first!)  All the years they owned the property, they never knew the nuts were edible! And then introducing my son to tea berries out in the woods while hiking, he flipped because he was taught not to eat red berries without knowing what they were! I instructed him on how to identify them by smell and by sight of the plants. It just dawned on me so I had to share lol

Cleanup efforts continue at DuBois cemetery

DUBOIS, Pa. -- A Clearfield County cemetery got some additional attention from local volunteers who spent their day cleaning up one of the area's oldest cemeteries instead of handling packages.

The Rumbarger Cemetery is the oldest burial ground in DuBois and time has certainly taken its toll on the property. In an effort to restore and cleanup some of the property, volunteers with FedEx Ground spent their Monday working to clean up the property.

FedEx Ground Senior Manager Jeff Butterworth said employees worked to clean up debris, weed and seed grass and straighten up headstones and walls that had fallen over during the past few years.

Rumbarger Cemetery Preservation Society President Carol Laughlin said having the extra help from volunteers is a big help.

"They're very enthusiastic and willing to do everything," Laughlin said. "We have to think up things for them to do. They're very good."

Butterworth said the volunteer effort in DuBois is part of a larger FedEx event, Ground Green Week, where employees help with restoration projects in the communities where they live.

"It's all volunteer work [at the cemetery], and it's a lot on them," Butterworth said. "We figured we could give them the day off, get up here, it's a historic site in DuBois, and just be part of it."

Laughlin said any help is always appreciated.

"There are a lot of important people here and I'm sure at one time it was absolutely a beautiful place and it

Hail, after a weekend at the Polish Festival, with all the cabbage, beer and some baked beans tossed in for good measure, I'm sure I'll be pulse-jet driven and could easily leave a donut-shaped contrail.
