There are a lot of weeds to walk through and someone has decided that it is okay to throw a refrigerator and a tire there, but all in all, it is still in pretty good shape.

Yes, why can't DuBois have a cool Rails to Trails like a lot of other towns do. Maybe it could be connected to the Walkway since they are talking about a footbridge across Sandy Lick Creek.

Thanks for the info on the B & O Railroad. I know the original rail bed ran North to Maple Avenue and across the bridge and over to Sandy Lick Creek. I don't know if it ran up to Sabula or down to Falls Creek from there. Southbound it goes behind Triangle Springs and down towards Sykesville (maybe Helvetia Mines).

I know the Highland Street Tunnel was discussed on here not too long ago but does anyone know the history of the tunnel? I know it was built in 1903 but I would like to know if the tunnel had a real name, what rail line went through it, where that line originated and ended, etc. It seems like it could provide a very good piece of local history.
