  1. Thanks for all the ideas everyone ! Not even sure it's in DuBois. Could it be a funeral procession ? The house with the large chimney almost looks like the Hahne Mansion. Was there ever a house where the brewery was ???
  2. Is that the one on 322, on the way to Dairy Queen ???
  3. A friend of my son's found a copy of this pic in his garage. The garage is located in DuBois, but we do not have a clue where this picture might have been taken. Any guesses ??? Sorry, no prizes, just personal satisfaction !
  4. My congratulations to the RCPS for continuning this fine tradition. If I may point out however, the Honor Guard in this picture is in fact the James J. Patterson V.F.W. Post 813 Honor Guard and not the DuBois ( Area ) Honor Guard. Thanks again !
  5. Steve, is it ok to list the names in the pic ??? Don't want to violate anyone's privacy !
  6. Gilb, not sure if I want to answer that. I'm like Jeff, don't want to embarrass myself !!!
  7. Me Jeff ??? I would NEVER do that ! hehe, cause I'm in there too ! Honestly, my memory is going and I simply CAN'T remember everyone !
  8. Can anyone remember these young All-Stars names ???
  9. My dad did some side work for them at their two transmitters in the late 70's. I haven't been to either one in years but their transmitter in Luthersburg has ( had ) their call letters above the front door . . . Rather large, I remember ! Might be worth looking into to see if the current owners would let someone ( maybe the Historical Society ) scout through the buildings ! the WCED FM letters would look great on a wall in the Hist. Society !
  10. Does anyone remember the old Saturday League Baseball teams ? This picture was taken in the mid-70's. We played at the old Gateway Fair grounds and were the Eagles but our uniforms say " Shankels Inc " , any guesses why ???
  11. Hipower, We do not have any plans to sell lots for burials for several reasons. First, Pa cemetery laws require that a substantial amount of money be in escrow of the Cemetery Company for perpetual so cemeteries do not get run down, as has happened so many times in the past. Secondly, the Rumbarger Cemetery Preservation Society was established to " Preserve, Protect, and maintain " Rumbarger cemetery, not to act as an active burial site. Finally, and perhaps most important and interesting . . . without knowing exactly where people might be buried ( horrible record keeping, graves moved, etc. ) we do not want to sell someone a lot and when their time comes and we dig them a grave find it is already occupied by someone . . . or several someones ! Yes, rumors and urban myths from the past suggest that some previous owners of the Cemetery, manyyy years ago, might have sold the same lots to different people!. Interesting fact though. If a person already owns a lot they are permitted to be buried there. So if you are driving by someday and see an excavator there, it' is a possibility that a funeral is taking place ! hope that answers your question . . .
