  1. As a non-native to the area, an all Sandy administration would be equally as bad. Of course, considering over 50% of Sandy voting residents voted for consolidation, the Sandy separatists are the minority.
  2. Paid administrative leave is probably the only other recourse at this time. Innocent until proven guilty. Have to let the process play out.
  3. Would that make it a transcar....an electric car claiming to be a gasoline car just because it can make the sound of a gasoline cat? Dont be peeking under that hood.
  4. Bit much it is. Kinda cheapens the look.
  5. Way of the world now. Cams every where.
  6. Are they aimed at the lots? If so, then folks watching their property. If aimed at busy insections...great. Remember those cams are there so so the next a-hole that runs the red light cant lie his way out of it.
  7. Realistically, it would take me a few days to start to get the hang of it, but most STEM topics I could handle. Now, put a teacher in my job? Total dysfunction. But, that is true of most professions.
  8. Actually, my keystoker is boiler. Really, anthracite doesnt produce much smoke. Has it own stack. From just looking at the chimney, very little chance you would notice anything. Those of us who still heat with coal supposedly number less than 200,000, but stokers and coal seem to be popular. I have 6 or 7 friends with keystokers. Someday, I fully expect coal prices to reach a point where it is no longer economical. But, as long as the anthracite mines keep producing, I am good to go. Since it also heats my hot water, I can heat 3200 sq ft to 72F and all the hot water I could ever use for about $220/month at current prices.
  9. Every progress makes someone rich. Again, compomise is key, not railing against every change. Yeah, I am a greenie. I just put in a new Keystoker. I expect antracite to be available for at least the next 20-25 years. Currently, I find it to be the most cost effective way to heat my home. If a cleaner, more cost effective way comes along, I wont hesitate to change. If a geothermal system powered by solar panels does the trick, I will have it. If an EV suits my needs, I will buy one. Unlike dinosaurs, I can adapt.
  10. The common sense logic is you need both. The black azz smoke did help beat Hitler, but surely you don't want to live breathing it every day for your entire, shortened, life. I cannot imagine you would want to live with a working strip mine located a few hundred feet of your front door for the next 25 years. And I dont know anyone that is will to give up their well water in the name of fracking (unless they happen to be making a huge sum of money from it). Progress happens. I am quite sure if you lived back in the day, you would have railed against electricity being put into homes (candles are good enough!), against automobiles (my horse doesnt need to stop for gas!), and probably against the invention of the toothbrush (those damn liberals think their teeth wont rot!)
  11. Not too many years ago, I was looking at backup power for my home. Local power was notorious for going out for multiple days multiple times per year. Of course, solar was considered. To offset some of the cost, I considered the posibility of using solar to run my furnance, circulating pumps, and well. Solar couldnt could not do that at a reasonable cost. Ended up with a stand alone generator. The interesting part of all this, which amused the solar guy to no end, was the fact I was attempting to run a keystoker coal furnace using solar. Using green for not green, or how to be green and not green at the same time. In terms of alarmists, they do serve a purpose. If you look at images of Pittsburgh in the late 40s, or traveled to coal towns bathed in black coal dust, or saw massive pipes dumping raw sewage into rivers, or had a favorite fishing stream ruined by acid mine drainage, you do realize the massive environmental damage man can cause. Unfortunately, most people shrug their shoulders and ignore it. Usually takes a small group of alarmists to create change. On the other hand, the non-alarmists ( for lack of a better term) are typically NIMBYs. They complain about windmills ruining their back porch view, yet will also complain if someone strip mines their favorite hill top of if drilling rigs pop up like weeds. And no one wants to drive behind the vehicle spewing all sorts on noxious black smoke and fumes. Now, I am not pro-this or anti-that type of person. I dont think we are going to melt all the ice caps in 2 years. But, if you think dumping all this crap into the air, water, and land is not having any effect, your are as nuts as the alarmists. Somewhere, there is an acceptable compromise. People shouting at other from the far ends of the spectrum solves nothing.
  12. Not just teens. Population growth seems to unevenly distributed to the shallow end of the gene pool.
  13. Hey now, dont want to supress anyone's freedom of expression. Half the under 30 teachers probably have their own OnlyFans page. Cats are very popular as pets and many enjoy showing off their pussy.
  14. Hearing your reasons or rationales for breaking away from the Catholic Church is of little interest to me. It might be interesting for you to discuss the root causes of your disillusionment with the Catholic faith. Catholics do not generally do well on making its teachings relevant. Either it is poor instruction or the students is not receptive. So, as a former Catholic, you should already know the tenets of the faith. There really is no debate. You have simply chosen not to follow them as I have chosen to follow. I have no reason to defend my beliefs.
  15. In and of itself, a harmless enough activity. On the grand scale, it is really no different than kids adopting the style and mannerisms of the time. Think leather jackets and greased back hair of the 60s didnt cause concern to parents? We dress up in various team sportswear attire. High school football circle and grunt and growl, imaging themselves as fearsome warriors about to do battle. The furries trend is probably short-lived, much like bouffont hairdos and 80s big hair. I think the sexualization is the bigger issue.
  16. Don't forget an ample sprinklings of sarcasm, innuendo, double entendre, generalized charcterizations, open ended statements, obliqueness, misdierection, leading statements, and probably a few others. Now, this most likely evolved due to my visceral response to your debate offer. Really have to ask your self why the offer to debate. Would you want debate if I stated I was Jewish? Buddhist? Muslim? Hellenist? Then you must examine your motivation for wanting to debate. I am sure some version of Fed in the multiverse would be insulted. Just not this one.
  17. This a hoax, urban legend....at least the litter box trend. Now dressing as cats...real thing. Mainly a tiktok thing, but is cosplay. Cosplay is basically dressing up in cotumes. Usually its as superheros characters, anime characters, etc. Sometimes people create their own character or alter ego. Harmless enough activity. Some of the costume construction and makeup is quite remarkable. Not sure why the cat thing caught on. Maybe because its quck and cheap...cat ear headbands and satety pin tail. Of course, cats are usually considered cute and adorable with a potential mean side. That could be some of the attraction. Unfortunately, on many social media, the cat image has become highly sexualized by a lot of the 'performers'. Unfortuately, most of the furries in schools are preteen to mid teen copying their older girls.
  18. Did ya lose your big spoon, Mr Pot Stirrer?
  19. Ok, so you identify as a dog person. Petee seems to identify as a cat person (based in her not wanting MKJ to eat her cats when he identifies as a werewolf.) Yet, more or less, everyone seems to get along well enough.
  20. This is your offer. I simply declined and stated the reasons I would not. No debate there. You can rescind your offer, but can't really decline your own offer. A debate is by design argumentitive. If you had asked questions as to to why Catholics do what they, maybe I would have engaged in a simple question and answer. You ask, I answer. You no comment on the answer. Move on to next question. But, I have no doubts immediately after my answer you would begin telling me why I am wrong. At that point, I would be directing you to a sand pile to pound.
  21. I never offered to debate.
  22. Nope. Nada. Nothing. Everytime someone wants to 'debate' Catholic teachings, it is cover for an attack on Catholics. You guys come armed with a playbook. My time is better spent trying to pry open a manhole cover with a wet paper straw. So, you go on reciting your verses, rolling on the floor, handling snakes...whatever you feel gets you closer to God. I am ok with it. So just for fun, willing to bet these are on your 'debate' list The Pope, significance of the Virgin Mary, Intercession of Saints, Communion, Confession, and other Sacraments, ....... You do your thing, I'll do mine.
  23. My sister has their generator wired in the main panel. However, the connector cable runs underground about 40ft to their big shed. When they need it, after throwing the inside breakers to the correct position, they just have to plug the other end into their generator and start it up They leave the shed door open for ventilation. No wheeling around the generator and it is protected from the outside elements. The fuse panel interlock is a must. Don't want to send current back through the main line. Not only will neighbors pull your power, it may cause a risk to any lineman. This video explains the process. This is a lot less expensive then a Generac whole house system. I know a couple people that have a Generac installed. You would be looking at between $8K and $20K including install, at a minimum, depending on size. You can buy a 9000W Generac thru Lowes for under $4K. We were looking a 22000W system a few years ago and the estimate was around $12K total. You also have a cost associated with ongoing maintenance. I went with the gas generator. For elderly/disabled/health issues and frequent power loss, it might be worth the extra cost. As we get older, we will probably revisit. When we first moved into our house, outages were frequent and we had little kids at home, but didn't have the extra money at the time while building to do the install. My first generator didn't have wheels and was pull start. But I was much younger. Wheels and battery start make things a lot easier....provided you keep the battery charged! https://www.google.com/search?q=connecting+a+generator+to+the+main+fuse+panel&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS770US770&oq=connecting+a+generator+to+the+main+fuse+panel&aqs=chrome..69i57.7516j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_u_u0Y_2BI7KzytMP-p6OwA4_49
  24. 613 rules to follow. Be tough to meet those requirements. I would be out in 2 days...3 if I slept in a day.
