  1. How about Henny Penny...after all, they ARE coppers!
  2. Petee, When you figure out who the girls are that you are keeping, I vote to name one of them DooBwa and a second one FluffyButt!
  3. This post is completely in the wrong thread, but I couldn't find the landfill accident thread. I saw an advertisement on channel 6 that they are doing a story on the landfill collapse Tuesday, May 9 on the 6 o'clock news.
  4. Anxiously waiting birth announcement! If any hatch, maybe Petee will let us suggest names for one of them!
  5. Maybe try soaking a few in water overnight before planting? Don't give up on them yet! Sometimes they can take up to 3 weeks to germinate.
  6. I got mine from Calvin. 371-2453 but it was 2 years ago. This is the author's son. His family had the book reprinted. I would try the number and see if you get a response.
  7. Yep! They are omnivores and also eat berries! A large part of their diets is made up of invertebrates like crickets, crayfish and earthworms.
  8. The problem that I would have if I had four chickens is that I would name them and then get attached to them. When they quit laying, I could never eat them or give them away to someone who might eat them. Soon, I would be running a coop for geriatric chickens!
  9. I love how everyone was always dressed so nicely back in the day!
  10. Wmjj if you are still on there are little turkeys there right now.
  11. I just clicked on it and watched the females grazing...very interesting! Thanks for posting it!

    We Are Adopting!

My dad had several over the years. The last two were Little Pup and Trouble! They can be trained as far as the barking goes. Biggest problem is they are very protective of usually one person. They will growl and snap and protect them. When they are tiny puppies it seems very cute, but can become a big problem if you allow it. Otherwise, they are sweet.
  13. Bon, whenI did this with my kids, I had a little kit with tiny stickers that were placed in a certain spot under the wing. When found, the number could be entered into a database to share migration information.
  14. This book is also being reprinted. There was an ad in the godubois classifieds about a month ago to call to reserve a copy. The man's name is Calvin and I believe his mother was the original author. His number listed in the ad was 371-2453. I called and left a message and he contacted me.The ad was also in the Courier for quite a while. I think the price is around $50 to be paid when the book is picked up. I read this book from the library and it is fascinating.
  15. Are you sure you want to cut that Apple tree down? Between "Apple", "Blue" and this Big Boy, you sure get to see some beautiful animals! Then again, I am not the one cleaning up!
  16. Ahhhh"... Mystery solved! It IS a moose. I googled Swedish elk and in Eurasia, the moose is called an elk! Junk and WMJ77 got it right!
  17. Maybe one of us has been eating Bon's fermenting apples! Haha
  18. It's a bit of an optical illusion. If the face is looking to the right, it looks like a moose. If the face is looking down and slightly left, it looks like an elk! Now, I don't know what it is!
  19. I know that a family named Lockwood owned a Dr. Pepper bottling company (in Texas I believe). I don't know if that information is related to the the bottling company in Brockway at all though.
  20. I am so sorry. My prayers go out to her family and especially her children. It was apparent how much she loved them and that they were the most important part of her life. They will always know how much they were loved.
  21. That wooly worm is the caterpillar of the Giant Leopard Moth. The moth will be bright white with big black spots. That wooly worm doesn't bite or sting. The regular black and rusty brown wooly worm doesn't bite or sting either and will turn into an Isabella Tiger Moth which is a pale orange with brown markings and not quite as showy. There are quite a few varieties of wooly worms in our area.
