  1. I'm not grumpy one bit. And believe it or not, there is more to maintaining the turf than "sprinkling the pellets". The batters boxes and mound need replaced multiple times a year, the cages need replaced, padding that is ripped or torn, broken lights, broken advertisement screens, scoreboards that get hit with balls, speakers, microphones, broken seats from vandalism, etc. The field does not need dirt and daily maintenance, that is correct, however there is a lifespan on the turf. Typically around 10 years. If you want to see what happens to the turf when it is not maintained, visit Pullman Park in Butler.
  2. The city isn't going to have revenue numbers of the local businesses that have benefitted from the fields. During the summer months, it is not uncommon for every hotel in the area to be full of players and parents. Those parents are eating, drinking, shopping, etc at our establishments. They are tipping our servers and spending a lot of money here. As for what the city is making on the fields, I could care less. There probably isn't a ton of profit if you consider the wear and tear those fields take.
  3. There was quite a bit of grant money spent on ball fields, however do you know the amount of revenue those fields are bringing in to the area?
  4. I believe they are replanting however those trees needed to go. Everytime there was a bad thunderstorm or heavy winds, they were all over the roads and were falling down.
  5. Probably used to pay more administrators at the district office.
  6. They are also in prime physical shape. Many of the people that have become severely ill or have died have had an underlying health condition. Whether that is age, obesity, lung, heart, kidney issues, etc. Unfortunately, just like every other disease, it's survival of the fittest.
  7. Will they still be doing contract tracing and quarantining students that are close to an exposure. The one good thing about the masks in schools is the quarantining has basically been eliminated. If they still continue contact tracing, there are going to be some empty classrooms in the near future.
  8. I'm not disagreeing, however private organizations have the right to make decisions on what they feel is in the best interest for their entire organization. Sometimes we like them, sometimes we don't. It is what it is. My recommendation to those people that do not want to get vaccinated to meet the requirements, find somewhere that fits their beliefs and strive there. If someone is working for an organization and they truly don't buy into their beliefs and policies, then the relationship will be short lived anyway.
  9. People die from chemotherapy and radiation everyday but we continue to trust the health professionals that it is good for us when we have cancer. Medicine is not perfect, but it's a choice either way.
  10. I support anyone who wants to make their own decisions on their health and livelihood, and kudos to all of them that can live without an income. I know I couldn't.
  11. I'm assuming you're vaccinated against polio, small pox, meningitis, etc. Are those a waste of time too? Do you feel people should choose not to get these vaccinations? I 100% agree that the individual should have the choice to put whatever they want in their body, however modern medicine and science have come a long way to just assume everything is a waste of time. Science and medicine has drastically reduced life altering diseases and has extended the average life expectancy of the human race. That alone is enough proof to not a waste of time. I am questioned each year by my doctor as well as my own children's doctors about the flu vaccine. I get all the risks and benefits of the vaccine before I would make my decision. Correct, I do not agree with how our "government leaders" are trying to force this into people, however that still does not make it a waste of time. For many, getting a simple shot has allowed many people to feel comfortable enough to leave the house again. Whether there is a real vaccine in the syringe or a placebo, it really doesn't matter. If scientists and doctors are wasting our time with vaccinations, then why do we run for their help when something is wrong and we need help?
  12. So all vaccines are a waste of time?
  13. My son's friend who goes to Jeff Tech has informed us that over half the school has either tested positive or is out on quarantine. They also said that basically nobody wears a mask. If all this is true and there are that many positives, why have we not heard about anything and how are they keeping their doors open?
  14. It's also technically unnatural to wear clothes in general. Humans are put on this earth wearing nothing. Somehow we have evolved enough to dress ourselves each day. Personally, I hate the masks. I only wear them when I have to or out of respect to those that are truly sick or scared of the virus. Do I believe that the virus is real? Yes, I do. However, I also believe that the flu, a common cold, meningitis, etc. are all real as well. The shot they are giving everyone is not a "vaccine". It's nothing but a booster. If it was a vaccine, the disease would be under control such as polio, chicken pox, etc. How about this, be respectful of peoples personal space and wash your hands, it's not that hard.
  15. So you're telling me that having a child wear a mask is the same as getting beat to a bloody pulp with a belt? Not being fed? Not being cleaned properly? I would go out on a limb here and say that any child that was truly abused would love to wear a mask over taking beatings. But, maybe I'm wrong.
  16. Either is DuBois Christian Academy. They do not have the risk of losing state funding.
  17. My whole point is you can find your "studies" that will appease your beliefs. A simple Google search gives you tons of "scientific studies" that defend either argument. And yes, these studies were published and include all the proper steps in order to be considered a "study". To say that, am I on one side or the other? I am probably on the anti-mask end, however I will follow the rules if it means keeping my loved ones safe and alive. As for protests on the boulevard, I think there absolutely garbage. They are doing nothing but causing a distraction for the education of the students. The school administrations across the state did not decide to pass along this mandate, they are just following the rules as well. What really makes me happy is all of the people that complain about Biden were all out enjoying a free day on Biden Bucks. Money well spent!!
  18. "One category of evidence comes from laboratory studies of respiratory droplets and the ability of various masks to block them. An experiment using high-speed video found that hundreds of droplets ranging from 20 to 500 micrometers were generated when saying a simple phrase, but that nearly all these droplets were blocked when the mouth was covered by a damp washcloth. Another study of people who had influenza or the common cold found that wearing a surgical mask significantly reduced the amount of these respiratory viruses emitted in droplets and aerosols." Straight from the article, apparently it's all opinionated studies. Must have been fake tests.
  19. This scientific study states that masks stop the spread of the disease. We can find whatever evidence we want to find, especially on the internet. https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/06/417906/still-confused-about-masks-heres-science-behind-how-face-masks-prevent
  20. No, if a student opts for an online cyber or charter school such as PA Cyber, the school has no affiliation with that student. That student chose to go to another school. What does happen however, is the school is now required to pay for that education from tax funded dollars. Schools like DuBois Area do have their own virtual academy that is run from their teachers, but you are still a DASD student, your classroom is just at home.
  21. Because it starts from the top. The principals have no power anymore because if they do anything, the parent then complains to a board member or the super and they get what they want anyway. If little Johnny doesn't like a coach because they don't get enough PT, then call a board member!! Even if they were undefeated they would be investigated. Basically, the DASD has no guts to stand up to parents.
  22. Maybe they can hire a super that knows what they're doing. From what I've heard and from the amount of phone calls, the district is out of control with no discipline.

    Consolidation

As long as Sandy Township is willing to fund the ball fields for all of the out of town teams, there should be no worries.
