  1. Robert Edward King, age 79 of DuBois, PA, formerly of Windsor, NY, died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his home. Born on October 1, 1942 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Matilda A. (Owens) King. He married Phyllis (Truesdale) King. She preceded him in death On August 22, 2021. Robert had lived in Windsor, New York for many years before moving back to DuBois. He had worked as a manager at the Blind Workshop in Binghamton, NY. He was an avid golfer and hunter, and was a social member of the American Legion. Robert is survived by 1 daughter (Roberta “Bert” Smith and her husband James of Gulfport, FL), 2 grandchildren (Jessica Nolin and Brandon Ketcham), 2 great grandchildren, 4 sisters (Margaret Gehm & her husband Edward, Rose Purdy, Sally Sprouse and Mary King all of New York). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter (Susan King), 1 sister (Betty) and 2 brothers (Henry and John “Sonny” King).   2. Timothy R. Ross, age 84 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Born on July 2, 1937 in Falls Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Timothy and Angeline (Schiano) Ross. In 1968 he married Karen (Buganza) Ross. She survives. Tim was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He retired from the maintenance department of the DuBois Area School District after many years of service, and previous to that, he had worked for the Falls Creek Borough. He was a member of the North Fork Watershed Association, Trout Unlimited and a 60 year member of the Falls Creek Eagles. Tim enjoyed fly tying and giving them away. Tim is also survived by his children (Timothy Ross and Susan Ross both of Falls Creek, PA). He was preceded in death by 1 brother (Joseph Ross). There will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held. Burial will take place in Taylor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.   3. Constance K. Fitzpatrick, age 87 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Christ The King Manor. Born on April 13, 1934 in Brookville, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Cohlepp) Wright. On September 22, 1956 she married Wiley P. Fitzpatrick. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2016. Connie was a homemaker and had previously worked at Penn Traffic and the Holiday Inn both in DuBois. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football. Above all, she loved being with her family. Connie is survived by her children (Kay Fredette and her husband Robert of DuBois, PA, Tom Fitzpatrick and his wife Sheri, Tim Fitzpatrick and his wife Paula all of DuBois, PA and Steve Fitzpatrick and his wife Amy of Waterville, OH), 7 grandchildren (Aaron, Joel & his wife Lindsay, Daniel, Marissa, Shane, Neil & Kyle Fitzpatrick), 2 great grandchildren (Eliza and Finn Fitzpatrick). and 1 brother (Patrick Wright of Punxsutawney, PA). She was preceded in death by 1 sister (Margaret Dorcy) and 2 brothers (James and William Wright). There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 9:30 AM from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   4. Virginia L. (Kosko) Kaizer, age 94 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Christ the King Manor. Born on April 20, 1927 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Gulish) Kosko. On January 2, 1947, in Sykesville, PA she married her husband Stanley S. “Jeep” Kaizer. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2004. Virginia retired as Postmaster in Stump Creek, PA after 25 years of service. She loved to listen to her husband and sons play music and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play at their sporting events. Virginia is survived by 2 sons (Stanley G. Kaizer and his wife Sandra of DuBois, PA and Paul A. Kaizer also of DuBois, PA), 3 grandchildren (Stephanie Radaker and her husband Rod of DuBois, PA, Stacia Callari and her husband Tom of Brockway, PA and Stanley Kaizer of Ohio) and 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers (Paul Andrew Kosko and Lyman Gaul) and 1 sister (Mary Gaul Dostall). There will be no public visitation and a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Lakelawn Memorial Park.   5. Valerie K. Kontra, age 78 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on May 4, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Emma (Doud) Pringle. She married Thomas Kontra who preceded her in death on November 28, 1999. Valerie had worked as a retail manager for The House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family. Valerie is survived by her children (Norman “James” Leitholf of Bonsall, CA, Lisa Quairiere of DuBois, PA and Jason Leitholf of Conway, SC), 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers (John and Bruce Pringle). There will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.   6. Marilyn “Dianne” Sandy, age 80 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at her daughter’s home in DuBois, PA. Born on August 19, 1941 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Duda) Polifko. On April 28, 1962, she married “the love of her life” Cluey W. Sandy and together they celebrated 59 wonderful years of marriage. He survives. Dianne took great pride in home cooked meals and being at home for her daughters after school. She loved her many flower gardens that she nurtured into rainbow displays of color. She also loved many of God’s creatures, her dogs, rabbits and the birds, especially the cardinals that would come to her feeders. Dianne will be remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Over the the years she enjoyed going to listen to her husband’s live band play at local events. She and her husband loved dancing both at home and at family celebrations. She will be remembered for her fashion sense, her laugh, as well as the love and humor she shared with her family and friends. Dianne was a long-time member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She kept a list of people whom she often prayed the rosary for. She loved her God and her faith. She looked forward to attending masses, it was not an obligation but a spiritual blessing decorated with wonderful musical selections. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Sandy of Maple Shade, NJ, Marla Pitrone and husband Gregory of Glen Allen, VA and Laura Gordon and husband Kevin Bogusch of DuBois, PA; her grandchildren, Kyle Gordon and wife Kayla of Reynoldsville, PA, Chloe Gordon of DuBois, PA, Lauren Pitrone of Glen Allen, VA and Angelo Gervasoni of DuBois, PA; her great-grandchildren, JB Gordon, Tauriel Gordon and Sadey Henderson-Gordon, one brother John T. Polifko and his wife Janice of Falls Creek, PA, as well as her beloved pet Boston Terrier, Marley. There will be no public visitation. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   7. Patricia I. “Patty” Fotta, Age 70, of Falls Creek, PA died Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on November 4, 1951 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Betty Mae (Krach) Williams. In November of 1970, she married her husband of over 50 years, James E. “Jim” Fotta. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2021. Patty worked for many years at the Main Street Riverside Deli. She loved caring for and spending time with her entire family. She is survived by 3 children (James J. Fotta of Falls Creek, PA; Stacy C. Agosti and her husband Shawn of Penfield, PA; and Brian E. Fotta of Reynoldsville, PA), 5 grandchildren (Jeremy, Jesse, Matthew, Shayla, and Javen) and 2 brothers (David Williams of DuBois, PA and Charles “Chuck” Williams of Rockton, PA). She was preceded in death by 2 brothers (Edward and Ronald Williams).   8. John E. Bearfield, age 77 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his home. Born on June 18, 1944 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Louise (McNeil) Bearfield. John was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Brockway Glass Company after many years of service. John was an avid golfer and loved the game. He was also a dog lover. He is survived by 1 son (Steven Bearfield of DuBois, PA), a brother (Iser Bearfield), and a sister (Patricia Bearfield). John was preceded in death by three sisters (Martha Federici, Georgine Burns, and Wanda Lepionka), and 5 brothers (James, Donald, Steven, Charles and William Bearfield).   9. Wanda L. Lepionka, age 95 of DuBois, PA died Monday, November 22, 2021 at Christ the King Manor. Born on October 9, 1926 in Rathmel, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (McNeil) Bearfield. In 1949, she married Floyd “Lo Lo” Lepionka. He preceded her in death in June of 2007. Wanda retired from the Brockway Glass Company after 37 years of service. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Wanda is survived by her son (Michael Lepionka of DuBois, PA), grandchildren (Michelle Snyder and her husband Dan; Danielle Rake and her husband Jason; and Keith Lepionka and his wife Meggie, all of DuBois, PA), 9 great grandchildren (Sarah, Allie, Hannah, Kyle, Justin, Katelynn, Lizzie, Lainey, and Lucas), a sister, (Patricia Bearfield) and 2 brothers (Iser and John Bearfield). She was preceded in death by an infant daughter (Stephanie M. Lepionka), her daughter in law (Karen Lepionka), two sisters (Martha Federici and Georgine Burns), and 5 brothers (James, Donald, Steven, Charles and William Bearfield).   10. Leon D. Kriner, Age 89 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on May 2, 1932 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Ira C. & Mary C. (Weber) Kriner. On October 22, 1951, he married his wife of 70 years, Hazel (Delp) Kriner. She survives. Leon was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Korean War. Leon retired from the Jefferson County Vocational Technical School as a data processing teacher after 19 years of service. Previous to that, he had worked for the DuBois Area School District and Clearfield Vo Tech. He also owned and operated his own family beef farm. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he was active in church affairs, was a member of Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited where he had served as Treasurer, and was active in the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau at both the county and state level. Leon also enjoyed hunting and reading. Leon is survived by a son (Dale A. Kriner of DuBois, PA), a daughter (Amy Kriner and her husband Scott Ecelberger of Woodbine, MD), 2 grandchildren (Katrina Fusco and Kalan Kriner), and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother (Ronald Kriner) and his daughter in law (Grace Kriner). There will be no public visitation and a funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.   11. James E. Fotta, Age 69 of Falls Creek, PA died Friday, November 19, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on February 18, 1952 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late John & Victoria (Wojtaszek) Fotta. In November of 1970, he married his wife of over 50 years, Patricia I. “Patty” Williams Fotta. She survives. Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator in the local coal industry for many years. He is survived by 3 children (James J. Fotta of Falls Creek, PA; Stacy C. Agosti and her husband Shawn of Penfield, PA; and Brian E. Fotta of Reynoldsville, PA), 5 grandchildren (Jeremy, Jesse, Matthew, Shayla, and Javen), and a brother (Rick Fotta of DuBois, PA). Jim was preceded in death by his brother (John Fotta and a sister (Christine Miksich). There will be no public visitation and a funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.   12. George F. Osti, age 86 of DuBois, PA died Monday, November 15, 2021 at his home. Born on August 24, 1935 in Force, PA, he was the son of the late Americo and Carmella (Bonavito) Ostio. He was raised by his grandparents Anthony and Anna (Delaini) Osti. George was a 1941 graduate of Penfield High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War having served in Japan, Korea, the Philippines and Germany. He retired as a lineman and cook from Conrail after 31years of service. George was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8755 in Sheffield, PA. He ran bingo at the DuBois VFW for many years. He was also a longtime member of the DuBois Area Honor Guard and the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17. He had also been active in the Harley Davidson Owners Group. George is survived by his children (David A. Osti and his wife Kathy of Emporium, PA, Melissa Himes of DuBois, PA, Cynthia Hannifin and her husband John of DuBois, PA and Christine Solar and her husband Ernest of Lovettsville, VA) and 7 grandchildren (Alyvia, Tahlia, Lachlan, Cassandra, Christian, Sierra and Abigail). He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years (Betty Himes), 1 brother (Anthony) and 1 sister (Adeline).   13. Beatrice G. Larson, age 89 formerly of Sykesville, PA died Friday, November 12, 2021 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on July 4, 1932 in Henderson Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Mary Alice (Kuntz) Lyons. On September 18, 1950 she married Joseph Larson. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2007. Beatrice retired from Ideal Products in Sykesville, PA after 40 years of service. She enjoyed sewing and planting and caring for her flowers. Above all, she enjoyed babysitting for family & friends. She is survived by 3 sisters (Florence Muth and Shirley Noble of both of DuBois, PA and Marilyn Bukousky of Troutville, PA),1 brother (Ronald Lyons of DuBois, PA), and a niece who she raised, (Tina Kiaiber). Beatrice was also preceded in death by 2 brothers (Ernie and Charles Lyons). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 4 – 7 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   14. Norma “Lee” Deasey, age 93 of DuBois, PA, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the DuBois Village. Born on May 20, 1928 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Melva (Leach) Phillips. She was a 1946 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. On October 9, 1949 she married Walter K. Deasey. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2010. Lee had worked as a cashier at Riverside Market for 23 years and then as a statement clerk at Timberland Federal Credit Union for 22 years. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Lee enjoyed knitting and working around the house, especially working in her garden. She loved and looked forward to going to her weekly, Wednesday Ladies Craft Club in Curwensville and was active in planning her high school reunions. Lee is survived by her son (Randy J. Deasey and his wife Tracy of Punxsutawney, PA), 3 grandchildren (Janyl, Glenn & Sarah) and 8 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons: infant (Robert K. Deasey) and (George W. Deasey) and one sister (Ethel “Effie” Mae Deasey). Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2 PM – 4 PM and Monday, November 15, 2021 from 12 PM – 1 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   15. Nancy J. Stanek, age 76 of DuBois, PA died Monday, November 8, 2021 at Penn Highlands Tyrone Hospital. All arrangements are private and are under the direction of the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
  16. Robert Emil “Crunch” Johnson age 74, of Brockport was welcomed into his eternal home on November 9th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob will be dearly missed and always remembered. Bob was born in Johnstown, PA on November 15th, 1946. His parents were the late Emil and Betty Johnson. He is also preceded in death by twin sisters Merrilee and Merrilou. He is survived by his wife Ginger Johnson of 37 years, son David Johnson and Claudette Monroy-Johnson of Washington DC, son Matthew Johnson and Abigail Weber of DuBois, and sister Ruth McKelvey of Cupertino, CA. Bob attended Richland High School in Johnstown, PA. He had a wonderful gift of sketching and drawing which led him to the Pittsburgh Art Institute. From there, Bob held several art design jobs at Brockway Glass, Sekula Signs, and his own company Crunch Studios. Later he worked as a driver for Pro Chem Tech, Minns Gas, and Moore Propane. One of his favorite jobs was driving school bus for Morellis Bus Lines of Brockway taking his sons to and from band competitions so he could support them. His hobbies included listening to oldies, antique car clubs with Priscilla, attending meetings of the Improved Order of Redmen, oil painting, hunting, reading, and computer games. It brought him great joy spending time with his family. Bob was a member of Lanes Mills United Methodist Church where he served as Lay Leader, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and communion steward. There will be no public visitation.   17. Ann G. Hill, age 95 of Mt. Joy, PA, formerly of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Juniper Village at Mt. Joy, PA. Born on August 13, 1926 in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Dorothy (Weyand) Grether. Ann was a 1944 graduate of Beaver High School and a 1948 graduate of Allegheny College. On August 5, 1950 she married William R. Hill. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2010. Ann was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DuBois, PA where she was very active in church affairs, serving as a past trustee. She had worked as a volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, the DuBois Ministerial Food Pantry and the Maple Avenue Hospital and was a past Girl Scout Leader. Ann is survived by her children: Deborah Staudt (Glenn) of Elizabethtown, PA, Susan Hill of Poncha Springs, CO and David Hill (Ingrid) of Brighton, MA., 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. (Danvir) McKeown. Beatrice had worked as a presser at the Bayer Clothing Factory in Clearfield, PA for many years. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian, PA.   19. Tammy L. Starr, age 45 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on December 12, 1975 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of James G. and Mildred D. (Pierce) Starr. Her parents survive and live in Chestnut Grove, PA. Casey M. Angeletti, her husband of 28 years survives. Tammy was a 1992 graduate of Jeff Tech. She had formerly been a waitress and manager at the Peking Restaurant for many years and most recently was a production lead at Paris Health Care. She enjoyed animals, the outdoors, fishing and snake hunting. She was also a competitive BMX bicycle racer, recently finishing 2nd in her age group at the Pennsylvania State Championship.   20. Charles E. Hatfield, age 90 of DuBois, PA died Monday, November 1, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on August 24, 1931 in Washington, PA, he was the son of the late Ray and Mary (Conway) Hatfield. On October 17, 1952 he married his wife of 69 years, Dora M. (Mankey) Hatfield. She survives. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 from Owens Illinois after over 40 years of service in the Drafting Department. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois, PA. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, and hunting and fishing. Charles is survived by his children (Karen Branch & her husband Bobby of Bristol, TN, Peggy Hatfield and her spouse Denise Lucas of Atawah, NC, Charles “Randy” “Chuck” Hatfield & his wife Rhonda of Brockway, PA, Joyce Pate & her husband Randy of Pensacola, FL and Cheryl Ross & her husband Joe of Brockway, PA), his siblings (Olive Barney, Paul Hatfield, Lucille Longstreth, and Brenda Yanov), 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. David loved a can of Coke, a candy bar and Dairy Queen. He loved oldies music and was kind to everyone he met.   23. John J. “Sonny” King, Age 84 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his home. Born on June 18, 1937 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Henry and Matilda (Owens) King. On October 9, 2010, he married Beverly A. Lawton King. She survives. Sonny was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Korean War. Sonny was a very well known and successful car salesman and manager in the DuBois, Brockway, and Somerset Area. He worked the majority of his career for Murray’s Ford. He was a member and Past Commander of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17. Sonny was an avid golfer and a member of the DuBois Country Club. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Sonny is survived by 3 children (Valerie Buchman & her husband Thomas of Port Crane, NY; John King & his wife Maureen of Falls Creek, PA; and James King of Johnson City, NY), 5 grandchildren (Angela, TJ, Sarah, Ryan, and Erica) 11 great grandchildren, and 5 siblings (Robert King, Mary King, Margaret Gehm, Rose Purdy, and Sally Sprouse, all of New York).   24. Lillian V. “Ginny” Perry, age 72 of DuBois, PA died Friday, October 29, 2021 at her daughter’s home in DuBois, PA. Born on April 14, 1949 in Freeman, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Madgelene (Edley) Grigsby. Ginny was a graduate of Bluefield State Teachers College in Bluefield, WV. She was a history teacher in Clairton School District, Clairton, PA for 39 years. She also served as Dean of Students at Clairton High School. Ginny is survived by one daughter (Heidi Parks and her husband Phil of DuBois, PA), one grandson (Jacob Parks), one sister (Juanita McGraw & her husband Michael of Oceanside, CA), and two nephews (Michael and Marcus McGraw).   25. Sebastian T. Hipwell, Age 20 of DuBois, PA, died Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on July 20, 2001 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Andrew and Cherie (Givens) Hipwell. They survive. Sebastian was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School Class of 2020. He enjoyed going to the movies and to the beach. He loved all things Disney. Sebastian lived by the motto of his hero, Buzz Lightyear, “To infinity and beyond!” In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings (Colin, Adriana, and Kasmira Hipwell, all of DuBois, PA), paternal grandparents, (Ronald & Bonnie Hipwell of Palm Bay, FL), and his maternal grandparents (Dawn Givens of DuBois, PA and Henry Givens of Baker, FL).
