  13. The Reverend Robert McKay IV, Age 82 of DuBois, PA, a devoted servant of God, a loving family man, and a lifelong model railroading enthusiast, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025. Born on August 30, 1942, in Cincinnati, OH, Robert's life was a testament to faith, dedication, and the joy of following one's passions. Robert graduated from Hobart College in 1964 and continued his theological studies at Philadelphia Divinity School, graduating in 1967. His ministry began as an assistant priest at St. Luke's in Metuchen, NJ, before he went on to serve as priest at St. Mark's in Pleasantville, NJ, and Christ Church in Bordentown, within the Diocese of New Jersey. His calling led him to Michigan, where he served Christ Church in East Tawas, St. John's in Oscoda, and St. Andrew's by the Lake in Harrisville, before eventually finding his spiritual home at Church of Our Savior in Dubois, PA, where he retired. Yet, retirement could not quiet Robert's deep commitment to Jesus; in 2016, he answered the call once more, serving as a supply priest at St. Paul's in Phillipsburg, PA, until his passing. Robert's pastoral care touched countless lives, and his kind, steady presence brought comfort and guidance to many. His sermons were heartfelt, often infused with wisdom gleaned not only from scripture but from the simple, profound joys of life - like the meticulous art of building a model railroad. From childhood, Robert's love for the 1965 Pennsylvania Railroad was unwavering, and he filled the basement of every home with intricate scale models, crafting landscapes that echoed his reverence for detail and history. Robert was predeceased by his beloved second wife, Gail. In a beautiful turn of fate, he was reunited in life with his first wife, Roberta, with whom he shared two sons, Robert J. and Russell. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Jennifer and cherished grandsons, Robert J. and Ian. Robert's memory lives on in the hearts of his brother Donald, sister Alice, and his many beloved nieces and nephews. His life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and an enduring curiosity for the world around him. Robert's legacy is not only in the churches he served or the models he meticulously built but in the relationships he nurtured and the unwavering kindness he showed to everyone he met. A service celebrating Robert's life and ministry will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg, PA on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. with the Rt. Rev. Audrey Cady Scanlan as celebrant. Interment will be at Trinity Episcopal Church in Moorestown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Phillipsburg, honoring Robert's lifelong commitment to serving others. Rest in peace, Reverend McKay. 21. Anne D. Whitcomb, Age 82 of Franklin, PA, formerly of DuBois, PA, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Sugar Creek Care Center in Franklin, PA. Born on June 28, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank C. and Barbara (Gow) Deemer, Jr. My mother Anne D. Whitcomb passed from this earth after finally succumbing to compounding health conditions while restfully sleeping. Last week she experienced another TIA (Transient ischemic attack. In layman's terms, a baby stroke). She has been stricken with and fighting dementia, Parkinson's, two full strokes and so many TIA's I lost count over these past 10 years. I would like to take a moment to celebrate some of her life's achievements. She was an intellectual at the root of everything and education was always prominent in her life. Her education began at the Emma Willard School for Young Women and concluded with earning two Master's Degrees. The first from the University of New Mexico in Urban Planning and the second from Clarion University for Library Science. Additionally, she at one point was a certified Social Worker as well as freelanced occasionally as a grant writer for some local organizations and businesses. She in her younger years told me she was one of the first women in the United States to get a professional racehorse trainers license. My mother's passions have always been horses, classical music as well as some theater and show tunes. I will always be thankful to her for taking me to see "Cats" and "The Phantom of the Opera" when I was young. This experience along with a few others gave me an appreciation for culture and the arts that I had never known before. My mother also instilled in me the value of community service and giving something back to the world even if it was just a little bit. Despite any financial difficulties, I can remember a few years when we only had can of beans to put under the Christmas tree (not kidding) but on Christmas eve she would let me unwrap a single gift but only after she sat me down and we would enclose a very small check to Heifer International (The mission of Heifer International is to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. Heifer does this by providing appropriate livestock, training and related services to small-scale farmers and communities worldwide). She explained that by helping someone in need with the simple act of providing a means to have food, can latterly change their lives. She said this while enclosing the $5 ish dollar donation in an envelope and then pointing to the can under the tree. She would say, we may only have that right now but there are many people that dream of having a can of beans. Anne is survived by her son Cliff Whitcomb, daughter in law Heather Whitcomb and three grandchildren Aiden, Collin, and Kaitlyn. There will be no public visitation and a service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Heifer International https://www.heifer.org/index.html in her name. 24. Delores V. (Moesta) Montgomery, Age 94 of DuBois, PA, died Saturday, February 15, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on August 19, 1930 in Hazel Park, MI, she was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Parrish) Moesta. On November 17, 1950, she married her husband of 65 years, Rev. Gerald T. Montgomery. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2016. Delores will be remembered for loving games such as Scrabble and Bali that she often won. How many thousand-piece puzzles can you complete if you do about one a week? Avid doesn’t quite say it. Up until her last years, she was a great cook who helped her church publish congregational cookbooks. At Christmas in her prime, she made 350 DOZEN cookies to give to doctors, teachers, friends and church gatherings. Steve’s friends all seemed to know when to show up for them. Baskin Robbins sold her more than one praline ice cream cut-halves. Delores enjoyed reading a lot also. The only family dog was scary and unfriendly to friends and family alike, with the exception of Delores. Delores would sit at the kitchen table reading, while the dog placed his paw on her lap and she would hold his paw. Kids and grandkids will remember the perpetual candy basket that she always kept filled for any that would pass by her coffee table. We will miss her- quiet, content, easy going, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune watching, and honest. She gave her pastor husband support for his ministry in many unassuming, in the back-round ways. Delores was beyond faithful until his dying day. God had mercy on her and brought her home after some intense suffering. She knew she was in God’s hands. Delores is survived by three children (Rev. Mark Montgomery and his wife, Deborah of DuBois, PA, Stephen Montgomery and his wife, Carol of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Renee Roberts and her husband, Tim of Kokomo, IN), nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson (Michael Roberts) and a brother( Edward Moesta).
