  1. Lori D. Miller, age 61 passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Woodlands Health Care Center following an extended illness. Born on October 23, 1959 in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Merle W. and Madeline M. (Kruger) Miller. Lori Graduated from Northside High School in 1977 and later worked for Hillcroft Industries for 19 years as a laborer. She enjoyed puzzle books and doing word searches. She is survived by one sister, Carol McKinley of Muncie, IN, two brothers, Merle (Skip) Miller, Jr. (Kara) of South Jordan, UT and Jack DeMiller (Janet) of Titusville, FL, ten nieces and nephews. Several great and great-great nieces and nephews, one aunt and uncle and numerous cousins. She was also preceded in death by several aunts and uncles. A graveside service will take place at Beechwoods Cemetery on October 4, 2021 at 11 AM with Pastor David Kohler officiating.   2. Thomas J. “T.J.” Strosky, age 28 of DuBois, PA died Friday, September 24, 2021 at his home. Born on August 5, 1993 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Thomas A. and Ruth Ann (Porrin) Strosky. T. J. was a member of the Falls Creek Eagles Aerie 965. He enjoyed cooking and hunting and fishing trips to Canada. He was also a music enthusiast and loved his “hot sauce” challenges with his brother-in-law, John. T. J. is survived by his siblings (Kelly Spellen and her husband John and Jessica Knarr, both of DuBois, PA), his maternal grandmother (Nancy Porrin of Falls Creek, PA), 1 nephew (Jayden) and 4 nieces (Madisyn, Kira, Elyssa and Alauna) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents (Joseph and Anna Strosky), maternal grandfather (David Porrin) and 2 uncles (Edward Strosky and David Porrin, Jr.). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 4 -7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   3. Sally Hollopeter Bowman, 67, of Cranston, RI, died Monday, September 20th, after a 16-year courageous battle with cancer. Born August 11th, 1954 in Rockton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Madeline Hollopeter. She is survived by her two children: Jason Bowman of Boston, MA, and Robert Bowman of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her older sister Susan Ayin of Aiea, HI, and leaves four siblings: Mark Hollopeter of Columbus, OH, Edna Bloom and David Hollopeter, both of Rockton, PA, and Brenda Rushe of Greensboro, NC. Sally trained in college as a classical pianist, then entered the field of banking, earned an M.B.A. while working full-time, and rose to a national position. Given the health needs of her two sons, she left banking to homeschool them and also ran a busy piano studio. Once her sons were both in college, she returned to the business world as a national large bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department, retiring in 2018. She was beloved for her huge heart, wit and humor, dedication to helping others, and ability to talk and connect with anyone she met. In addition to work, caring for her family and friends, and serving others, Sally had many interests that in part included music, reading, politics and theology, and gardening. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 6-8PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A private family funeral will be held from the funeral home the next day.   4. Dorothy J. Hoskavich Navarra, age 94 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Christ the King Manor. Born on January 2, 1927 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Hice) Baloniak. She was married to Harry Hoskavich. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1972. On June 9, 1973, she married P. John Navarra. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2014. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where she had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She loved cooking, baking and the holidays with her family. She loved tending to her flowers, reading her Bible and was very devoted to praying for her family and friends. She is survived by her son (Gary Hoskavich & his wife Elizabeth of Pawleys Island, SC), 2 daughters (Linda Beer and her husband William of Greensburg, PA, and Theresa Stoey, of DuBois, PA) 7 grandchildren (Megan, Matthew, Jenifer, Christina, Sarah, Amanda & Aimee), 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter (Janet Hoskavich), her sister (Mary Adalene Baloniak) and one granddaughter (Carrie Graham). There will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 11 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Father Edward Walk officiating.   5. Dennis “Todd” Bauer, age 65 of DuBois, PA died Monday, September 20, 2021 at his home. Born on November 21, 1955 in St. Marys, PA, he was the son of the late Francis “Butch” and Audrey (Dinsmore) Bauer. He was a 1973 graduate of Elk County Christian High School. On March 17, 2021 he married Pauline “Paula” (Breske) Newton Bauer. She survives. Todd had worked for over 20 years as a custodian at Elk County Catholic High School. He had previously worked at Stackpole Carbon Company and most recently he enjoyed delivering pizza for Dominos in St. Marys. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Todd and Paula were proudly married wearing the “Black and Gold”. Todd also loved to fish, his “grandpuppies” and feeding the deer at his home in Treasure Lake. Todd is survived by his children (Joe Bauer of St. Marys, PA, Nicole Satterly & her husband Brian of Sayre, PA and Clarissa Bauer of St. Marys, PA), his stepchildren (Francisco Cassar of Kimball, MI, Eric Cassar of Hemet, CA and James Ray Newton III of Monroe, MI), 1 sister (Stacie Olewnik & her husband Richard of St. Marys, PA), 1 brother in law (Ed Owens of Charleston, MO), and was loved and will be missed by his step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, his nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.   6. Samuel W. Davis, age 62 of Luthersburg, PA died Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on April 4, 1959 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH, he was the son of the late James E. Davis and Joan E. (Guisler) Davis. His mother survives. Sam was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University and had worked as an Electrical Engineer. Sam enjoyed golfing and skiing. Sam is survived by his children (Steven Sadet & his wife Starlet of Loganville, GA, Cristian Davis and Amanda Davis both of Arden, NC), 5 brothers (James Davis & his wife Charlene of Rockton, PA, David and Daniel Davis both of Luthersburg, PA, William Davis of Treasure Lake, PA and Joel Davis and his wife Isabel of Rigby, ID) and 1 sister (Jennifer Light of Wernersville, PA). Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 6 – 8 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   7. Corey S. Bigelow, age 30 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, PA. Born on May 26, 1991 in Clare, Michigan, he was the son of David and Tracy (Cosgrove) Bigelow. They survive and live in DuBois. He had worked in the oil and gas industry, and previous to that, he had been a die setter in the powdered metals industry. Corey is survived by his four children; (David, Olivia & Oakley Bigelow and Gannon Vitarelli ) and two step children; (Ethan and Emma Curran), and his maternal grandmother (Deborah Cosgrove) and two brothers; (Lane and Kyle Bigelow).   8. Timothy B. Robertson, Sr., age 76 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home as a result of a tractor accident on the family farm. Born on May 23, 1945 in Phoenix, AZ, he was the son of the late Olive L. Robertson. On October 28, 1967 he married his wife of 53 years, Carolyn (Skraba) Robertson. She survives. He was a 1963 graduate of the DuBois Area High School and had remained very active with fellow classmates and class activities. Tim was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War Era. He retired after 33 years of service from Verizon Telephone. During his career, Tim was a splicer, a lineman and worked in supply. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where he had previously been active in many church affairs. He was a past chairman of St. Michael’s Polish Festival, was a past member of the Holy Name Society and Parish Council. Tim was a life member of the NRA, a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, the Pulaski Club and served on the boards of the Desire Cemetery Association and Clearfield Jefferson MH/MR. He was also a Polish American Veteran. Tim is also survived by his children (Sonya Linsenbach and her husband Troy of Lutherville, MD, Heather Robertson and her fiancé Jeff Edwards of Jacksonville, FL and Timothy Robertson, Jr. and his wife Valentina of Katy, TX). He was preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 1 PM – 4 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10 AM from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr.   9. Rodney C. Kelsey, loving husband and father, age 74 of DuBois, PA died Monday, September 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on September 28, 1946 in Grove City, PA, he was the son of the late John C. and Barbara McFadden Kelsey Deemer. After his father’s death, he was raised by Thomas Deemer who also preceded him in death. On July 7, 1967 he married his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth “Betsy” DeSalve Kelsey. She survives. Rod was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves serving with the 629th Transportation Unit. He retired from Glenn O. Hawbaker in 2010. Previous to that, he worked as a professional over the road truck driver for Preston Trucking for 19 years. During his driving career, Rod received 5 Triple Crown Awards as well as an award for driving over one million miles accident free and for his outstanding performance. Rod could build and fix anything and he loved to help others, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He is survived by one son John C. Kelsey & his wife Molly of DuBois, PA, two grandchildren (Sarah and Reed Kelsey), 1 brother (Tom Deemer and his wife Paula of Brockway, PA) 1 sister (Linda Thompson of Brockway, PA) and 1 sister-in-law Eileen Kelsey of Brockport, PA). Rod was preceded in death by 1 brother (James Kelsey) and 1 brother-in-law (Tom Thompson). Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 6 – 8 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11 AM from the funeral home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery.   10. Judith A. Bowers, age 81 of Reynoldsville, PA died Monday, September 13, 2021 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Born on August 31, 1940 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Twila (Shannon) Umbaugh. Judie married Rod S. Bowers. He survives. She retired as a teacher’s aide from the DuBois Area School District and she had worked as a teacher’s aide in Tallahassee, FL for many years prior to that. Judie loved being with her family and adored her grandchildren. Judie is survived by one son (Jeffrey Gordon & his wife Tracy of Brookville, PA) and one daughter (Jennifer L. Swartz & her husband Tim of East Greenwich, RI), six grandchildren (Zachary, Lucas, Haley, Sydney, Michael and Shannon), one great grandchild (Laiken) and siblings (Nancy Brasseur, John Umbaugh, Bernard Umbaugh, Jill Lisciandro and Penny Francis). She was preceded in death by one brother (Robert Umbaugh). There will be no public visitation and a private service will be held from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.   11. Stephen Coffman, age 83 of Reynoldsville, PA, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on December 12, 1937 in Sykesville, PA, he was the son of the late James F. and Mary (Miksich) Coffman. He married Beulah (Dempsey) Coffman. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2016. Stephen retired from Rockwell International Manufacturing after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, was active in the Reynoldsville Foundry and served for 18 years with the Sykesville Ambulance Service as an EMT. He is survived by 2 sisters (Barb Berkhimer of Senor, PA and Linda Gelnett of Sykesville, PA) and 1 sister-in-law (Mary Ellen Coffman of Johnstown, PA) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 son (Stephen Charles Coffman), 1 sister (Mary Ann Rogers) and 1 brother (William Coffman). There will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.   12. Shirley W. McCoy, Age 92 of DuBois, PA died Friday, September 10, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on December 2, 1928 in Ridgway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Benton C. & Margaret (Evans) Wilson. She was married to John McCoy. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1996. Shirley retired from Mid Continent Phone Company in Ridgway after over 20 years of service. Previous to that, she had worked at Quality Components in Ridgway. She was a Past President and long- time member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Unit 17 Auxiliary and was a member of the Ridgway Elks #872 for many years. Shirley was also a member of the Ladies of the Lake and the Treasure Lake Red Hat Society. Shirley is survived by her son (James A. Rickard, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Ridgway, PA), her daughter (Marsha L. Verostek and her husband Ken of Butler, PA), 5 grandchildren (James Rickard, III and Trisha Beeler, and Renee Verostek, Andrew Verostek, Sr. and Matthew Verostek), 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Shirley was preceded in death by her son (Larry Rickard), seven brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   13. Mary M. Russell, Age 74 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at McKinley Health Care in Brookville, PA. Born on September 6, 1947 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Rose (Petrucci) Calderone. On January 20, 1968, he married her husband of 53 years, Donald E. Russell. He survives. Mary was a 1965 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic High School. She retired from Riverside Penn Traffic as an office assistant for the buying department after over 20 years of service. She had also worked for the DuBois Regional Medical Center. Mary was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed reading. Above all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a son (Sean Russell of Rathmel, PA), a daughter (Dawn Marie Russell of DuBois, PA), 2 grandchildren (James & Paisley Russell), 3 great grandchildren (Connor, Ava, & Jim Russell) and a brother (Frank Calderone of DuBois, PA). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   14. Elaine Frances Nelson went to heaven to be with her beloved husband, Richard, on September 8, 2021. She was 93 years old. She was born in Brockway, PA, to the late Anthony and Angelina (Paruolo) Gregorio. On August 22, 1953, she married Richard Carl Nelson who preceded her in death on June 28, 2006. They were married almost 53 years before his passing. Elaine had worked at Brockway Glass before her marriage and until her first child was born. She always had fond memories of roller skating at Ridgway Roller Rink. One year her husband surprised her with a YMCA membership where they enjoyed many years swimming together. After his passing, she continued with friends she had made, always enjoying having lunch afterward. She always attributed her longevity to her husband’s gift of swimming. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Church in DuBois. She was a long-standing member of the Rosary Society and helped prepare many meals to serve after funerals at St. Catherine’s. She was a wonderful baker and cook, always welcoming her children’s friends to stay for dinner. When she made her delicious homemade bread, it was always shared with the nuns and priests who always looked forward to Mrs. Nelson’s bread. In later years she helped the First Communion students make their own special loaf. While her children were in grade school, Elaine and her friends took turns hosting card club at their homes. She continued playing cards throughout her life and was an avid reader. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was loved deeply. She had many friends and relatives that cherished her. She is survived by 2 daughters: Diane Tangeman of DuBois, PA, and Barbara (Michael) Martino of Brentwood, TN. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren: John Tangeman, Dr. Margot Martino, and Olivia Martino. Also preceding her in death were 4 sisters: Betty Baker, Rose Verne, Mary Marchiori, and Pauline Umbaugh; 3 brothers: Pat, Dennis, and Angelo Gregorio; and 2 infant siblings. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 9:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to DuBois Public Library, 31 S.   15. Nancy Susan Ausec Meighen, Age 85 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at her home. Born May 29, 1936 in Jeannette, PA, she was the second daughter of three born to the late Naomi Josephine Harvison Ausec and Frank (Fritz) Ausec. She graduated salutatorian of Jeannette High School’s Class of 1953. She served as Secretary to the Director of Recreation of the City of Greensburg before dedicating herself to raising her family. She married James William Meighen on October 24, 1953. Bill died on May 9, 1993. Nancy was an active member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and served on the Women’s Guild, Consistory, as a Sunday School Teacher and as an assistant to the Treasurer. Her volunteerism included being a Cub Scout Den Mother, a DuBois Public Library Story Hour Teacher to three-year-old’s, a volunteer driver delivering meals for the Community Center and as an aide in the DuBois Elementary Schools. She delighted in gardening, working outside, reading and drawing. Nancy’s gifts of optimism and smiles were shared with many and will be fondly remembered. Her laugh was contagious and she always sat at the “kids’ table” for holidays. (It was the most fun!) She was the heart of her family. Being a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother brought her joy. Her family cherished her. She is survived by daughter, Dennie Malacarne and husband John of DuBois; son Jeff Meighen and wife Marilyn of York, PA; son Kurt Meighen of DuBois and son Mark Meighen and wife Jackie of Greenville. Her grandchildren include Tim and Roopa, Jonathan and Janet and Mark and Lauren Malacarne, Shaun and Mac Meighen, Caleb and Cole Meighen, and Jenna and Josh Tofani and Allyson and Amy Meighen. Her great grandchildren are Kai and Benjamin Malacarne, and Daphne and Theodore Tofani. She is also survived by sister Judy Pahnos of Orchard Park, NY; brother-in-law Don Kuhns of Greensburg, PA and sister-in-law, Lynn Zimmerman of Harrison City, PA and niece Heather Johnson and nephews Doug and Andy Pahnos, Greg Kuhns and Jim and Jay Zimmerman. In addition to her husband Bill, she was preceded in death by mother-in-law Esther Huffman Meighen Smith, daughter- in- law Wendy Kuhns Meighen and sister, L. Kathleen Kuhns.   16. Marie Chess, age 95 of DuBois, PA died Monday, September 6, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on November 25, 1925 in Reynoldsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Nell (O’Donnell) Nocerini. She married Jack W. Chess. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2011. Marie was a homemaker. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #86. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by a sister (Catherine Nocerini) and a brother (Donald Nocerini). There will be no public visitation.   17. John M. Anderlonis, age 74 of DuBois, PA, died Monday, September 6, 2021 at Christ the King Manor. Born on September 4, 1947 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late John R. “Babe” and Rose M. (Matula) Anderlonis. He graduated from Alliance College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. John had worked in the lab at DuBois Regional Medical Center for 27 years. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where he was an altar server in his youth, the Pulaski Club and the Olympic Athletic Club. He enjoyed archery and rifle hunting, playing baseball and loved to fish. John is survived by one sister (Mary Ann Lepeonka and her husband Paul of North Patomic, MD), 2 nephews (Jason Lepeonka and his wife Lori and Michael Lepeonka and his wife Allison), 1 great niece (Madison Lepeonka) and 3 great nephews (Ryan, Henry and Logan Lepeonka).   18. Thomas Carpin, Jr. ,age 92, of DuBois, died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Christ The King Manor. Born on June 3, 1929, in Weedville, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Dora (Malorgio) Carpin, Sr. On October 24, 1953, he married Josephine F. (Makofka) Carpin, she preceded him in death on December 27, 2016. Tom was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He was a 1947 graduate of the Weedville High School and later served during the Korean War in the US Army with the 2nd Infantry Division and was awarded a Bronze Star. He retired after 35 years with Carbon Graphite. Tom enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and spending time with his family. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler, Penguins and Pirates fan. Tom is survived by three children: Darlene Lockett and her husband Tim of DuBois, Dennis Carpin and his wife Melinda of DuBois and Michele Kister and her husband Kurt of Sykesville. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Aileen Barbazzeni and a brother, David Carpin. On November 20, 1981 he married Martha O. (Drum) Beam. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2015. Don worked many years for Womeldorf Incorporated, Mid State Amusement and the Independent Political and Social Club. He was a life member of the Independent Political and Social Club, the Sandy Hose Company #1 Firemen’s Club and the Olympic Athletic Club.   20. Stephen S. Petrick, age 85, of Reynoldsville, PA died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at his home. Born on December 12, 1935 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Stephen & Alberta (Lias) Petrick. On January 2, 1960 he married Barbara H. (Hanson) Petrick. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2020. Steve graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1953. He then joined the United States Airforce in November of 1953. On the GI Bill, Steve graduated from Utah State University with a Journalism degree with a minor in Photography. Along with his service to our country in the Air Force, he was also a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. Steve started his career as a newspaper journalist in Somerset, PA for the Somerset Daily American, both writing stories and acting as the photographer for the newspaper. After moving back to Reynoldsville Steve started Photo-Write Services and will mostly be remembered as the local photographer and took wedding pictures for over 30 years at weddings and events in the surrounding area. He also did portrait sessions, and he took the student pictures for DuBois Central Catholic School for many years. In his early years, Steve was a member of the Jaycee’s where he was recognized one year as Jaycee of the year. He was an avid Steeler fan and watched the games at the Pine Inn with all of the other wild and crazy Steeler fans. He was also an avid shooter and shot rifles in the local shooting and plinker leagues. He specialized in Silhouette Shooting and excelled at local and state Silhouette Shooting events. Steve will also be remembered for his volunteer work with the NRA in organizing the many local NRA fundraising dinners and charity auctions in our area. He and Barb were members of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Reynoldsville. He is survived by his children (Stephen Petrick and his wife Tracy of Pittsburgh, PA, Lori Rocco and her husband Gian of Centre Hall, PA and Marla Ball and her husband Craig of DuBois, PA), six grandchildren (Stephen & Devani, Alisa & Jason and Cory & Jordan), and two great grandchildren (Delayni & Adelyn), He was preceded in death by brother, Francis A. He was involved with the Sykesville Little League for 15 years, was an avid bowler and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and was the Winslow Township Tax Collector for many years. Born on March 25, 1927 in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Pard and Mary (Maxim) Gustinbell. She married Emerson Yount, Jr. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1990. Eleanor was a homemaker and she was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Infant of Prague Society and was always very active in church affairs.
