  1. Musical fun is on tap for the DuBois Area Historical Society’s 14th Spring Luncheon. The locally-based Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players will provide the entertainment for the luncheon and promise a pleasant program with a few laughs and a bit of a sing-a-long. The luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, at noon at Christ Lutheran Church, 875 Sunflower Drive, DuBois. The cost to attend is $15 per person for a lunch featuring Italian wedding soup, macaroni salad, Subway sandwich and desert. Reservation deadline is March 13 and should be sent to the DuBois Area Historical Society, Attention: Ruth, P. O. Box 401, DuBois, Pa. 15801. The mountain dulcimer is one of only two musical instruments to originate in North America, the other being the five-string banjo. The long, stringed instrument is placed on the lap for playing and provides a rich and varied musical voice. The Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players trace their origin back to a free-period activity first offered by Virginia Schott at DuBois Area High School. Schott became interested in the instrument after attending librarians’ workshops where it was used as part of story telling activities. In addition to providing instruction for students at the high school, several adults became interested too, resulting in the adults practicing together outside the school setting. That initial group attracted additional people from the surrounding area and in 2010 the Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players performed for the first time at a DuBois Area School Retirees luncheon. The name Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players was selected in honor of the Sandy Lick Creek that runs through DuBois before connecting with larger rivers. The group wanted something that sounded folksy, but aptly described the group and indicated they resided in many different towns in western Pennsylvania. Since that time the Sandy Lick Mountain Dulcimer Players have performed in five counties for church groups, nursing homes, senior centers, reunions and other organizations, including twice at the Indiana County Fair. The group has also hosted in DuBois a number of the outstanding dulcimer players from throughout the United States, including DuBois’ own Butch Ross, to provide lessons and perform in concert. 10. One Thing, Jesus Christ. Fr. Ben Daghir Will Post Weekly Articles HERE! SPECIAL EDITION ARTICLE #8 - February 27th, 2023 by Fr. Ben Daghir Editor’s Note: Fr. Ben Daghir had the unique opportunity of celebrating Mass for the seminarians at St. Mark's Seminary in Erie on February 21, 2023. This article is a summary of his homily to the seminarians. The Gospel reading for that day was Mark 9:30-37. Article: Notice that the Apostles “had been discussing among themselves who was the greatest.” How boring their conversation must have been! Let me be clear: these discussions can occur in both seminary and the priesthood. It’s often tempting for us to compare one another, gossip, and fall into pride. Up to this point in the Gospel of Mark, the Apostles have seen Jesus perform remarkable miracles. He has calmed the storm at sea. He has cast out demons (such as in the story with Legion when the swine run off the cliff into the sea). He has cured Simon’s mother-in-law, he has cleansed a leper, he has healed a paralytic, he cured the man with a withered hand, he cured the woman with hemorrhages who simply touched his cloak, he has miraculously fed over five thousand, he has walked on water, he has placed his fingers in the deaf man’s ears and brought healing, he miraculously fed another four thousand, and he has placed spittle on a blind man’s eyes and sight was restored. Gentlemen, I think you get the point. The Apostles should be talking about what Jesus has done as opposed to which one of them will be the greatest. It’s a temptation in seminary and priesthood to stop talking about what Jesus is doing and reduce conversations to what another brother can or cannot do. It may sound like this, “Oh yeah, Billy will never go onto further education. He’s not smart enough. In fact, he will most likely be a parochial vicar at a small parish for a long time” or “Johnny, he will be a good administrator but he just cannot preach at all.” These types of conversations are no different than that of the Apostles who “had been discussing among themselves who was the greatest.” What does Jesus do once He finds out that the Apostles had been having this type of conversation? He gives them an immediate lesson. In fact, Jesus reverses the conversation from “the greatest” to “the lowest.” Jesus reminds them that an authentic follower of Him must take the lowest place. Of course, this still holds true (especially for a seminarian and a priest). I think that it’s important for me to remind you of who you are as a seminarian. You know that the word seminarian (seminarius in Latin) means seed. You also understand that a seminary (seminarium in Latin) is a seedbed/garden. Notice a seed's movement: it enters the lowest place, below the soil. It enters into the dirt in order to grow (which is a reflection of humility, to be down to earth like a seed). A seed does not take the greatest place but rather the lowest place. It then digs its roots downward, lower and lower long before it ever bears fruit. Of course, this is reflective of the humble trajectory of Jesus Christ. God became a human being and entered our world alongside the stench, dirt, and mud of animals in a manger. He then continued to go lower throughout the Gospels. He kneels down next to the woman caught in adultery and writes in the sand. He washes the disciples' feet. Jesus also teaches His disciples, “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). Jesus even enters the lowest place imaginable, a Roman crucifixion that leads into the depths of death and hell. Jesus goes all the way down into the muck and mud of our fallen humanity. In other words, Jesus always takes the lowest place. An authentic priest follows the trajectory of Jesus, he takes the lowest place at all times. He does this by entering into the difficulties, conflicts, stresses, worries, anxieties, struggles, fears, problems, and sins of people. He always takes the lowest place and then lifts others toward Heaven. An authentic priest never elevates himself, stands above others, or looks down on them. Instead, like Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, an authentic priest looks up to humanity because he has taken the lowest place. His priesthood is to serve others, to lift them up, to heal them, and to encourage them. Gentlemen, know that I love to be a priest. Know that I often fail to take the lowest place. Know that I am a work in progress. I encourage you to be like a seed that enters downward, taking the lowest place. Do not be like the Apostles in today’s Gospel who participate in the boring conversation of “who was the greatest.” The priesthood is not found in that conversation. Follow the path of Jesus Christ which is the path of humility. It’s in this lowly place that one finds the priesthood. ======================== Fr. Ben Daghir is a priest for the Diocese of Erie. He is a graduate of Elk County Catholic High School in Saint Marys, Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, and St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. He considers writing one of his favorite hobbies.

  12. You know that Elon would not say that unless he has seen the evidence on Fauci. I hear GITMO calling!!! https://t.co/yrhOMM6fON Elon Musk accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan, China lab where COVID-19 is believed to have originated from. Musk said Fauci funded gain-of-function research “via a pass-through organization (EcoHealth)” on Twitter Sunday. Musk’s fiery accusation came in response to a tweet that aggregated the multiple occurrences where Fauci denied any gain-of-function research and counter-signaled the idea that COVID-19 originated from a 2019 Wuhan lab leak. “Dr. Anthony Fauci funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, lied to Congress about it, and now both the FBI & the Department of Energy have concluded that the coronavirus originated at the Wuhan lab. Does that mean Dr. Anthony Fauci funded the development of COVID-19?” the video’s caption reads. Hours earlier the Wall Street Journal released a bombshell report which revealed the U.S. Energy Department is now considering it likely COVID originated from a Wuhan, China lab leak. The Energy Department’s update came in a classified intelligence report shared with the WSJ. Previously, the Energy Department was undecided on COVID’s origin and numerous public health officials like Fauci disregarded a lab leak theory. On Feb. 13 House Republicans formally requested Fauci, the former Chief Medical Advisor to President Biden, and the president of EcoHealth Alliance, Dr. Peter Daszak, come before Congress for an interview. Fauci and Daszak were cited by thousands of media outlets as truth-sayers when they claimed “the evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 is not a purposefully manipulated virus” and “we do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible.” Musk’s tweet referenced Daszak’s company. Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance is a U.S. National Institutes of Health grantee that “passed taxpayer funds to the Wuhan lab to conduct gain of function research on bat coronaviruses – research that may have started the pandemic,” the House Republicans’ request stated. Throughout the 117th Congress, Reps. James Comer (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) have “sent numerous letters to the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.” “They have also requested information from several virologists who colluded with Dr. Fauci during the early days of the pandemic to downplay the lab leak theory and wrote a paper concluding with no evidence that COVID-19 is not a result from a lab leak or gain-of-function research,” the letter reads. All of their requests have been ignored or insufficiently responded to.

Does anyone even believe anything these CRAZIES tell us? > IT WAS PURPOSELY LEAKED 🚨#BREAKING: The U.S. Energy Department has concluded Covid most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress. - WSJ The Energy Department now joins the FBI in claiming Covid originated from a mishap at a Chinese laboratory. Four other agencies, along with a national intelligence panel, still judge that it was likely the result of a natural transmission, and two are undecided.
