  1. Donald E. Ericson, age 75 formerly of DuBois Pennsylvania, formerly of Atlanta GA, residing in Prattville AL, died Sunday, January 1st 2023 at Bill Nichols State Veteran’s Home. Born September 10, 1947 in DuBois PA, he was the son of Robert E. and Margaret B. (Pifer) Ericson. On August 22nd, 1970, he married Charlotte J. (Weir) Phillips. Don was an Airman in the United States Air Force and served his country in Vietnam. When he returned home in 1970, he worked with Rockwell Manufacturing and served with Volunteer Hose Company #1. He held several jobs after that, including driving a semi-truck and setting tile. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed preparing excellent meals using the game he brought home. Don is survived by his wife Charlotte of DuBois; his brother Robert E. Ericson, Jr.; his daughter Tanya (TJ) Ferrara and her husband Marc; his son Maurice Ericson and his wife Amber; and his grandchildren Delilah and Sawyer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 from 10-11 AM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Felt officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.   2. It is with deep sadness the Spehalski family announces the passing of Richard Joseph Spehalski, our loving husband, father, and grandfather. Richard died peacefully on Sunday, January 1st, at the age of 87. Born on March 16, 1935 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Matula) Spehalski. On November 26, 1960 Richard married his wife of 62 years, Nancy M. (Sutton) Spehalski. She survives. Richard graduated from DuBois High School in 1953, where he played center on, as he repeatedly emphasized, “the only undefeated-untied football team in DuBois history” (1952). After graduating from Cornell University, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering, Richard dedicated his career to space exploration. He joined Jet Propulsion Laboratories in 1959 and worked on the Mariner, Viking, Voyager, Galileo, and Cassini programs that spanned his 39-year career. He was awarded NASA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Medal, and retired in 1998. Along with his wife Nancy, Richard is survived by one sister Virginia Good of DuBois, PA, sons Stephen and his wife Leah of Holland, MI, Mark and his wife Keri of Portland, OR and James and his wife Jill of Littleton, CO, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers (Raymon and Walter Spehalski) and a sister (Helen Kopeck) There will be no public visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.   3. Joseph Korney, age 84, of Sykesville, PA, formerly of Mentor, OH, and Penfield, PA, died Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on August 2, 1938 in Burnside, PA, he was the son of the late John and Ollie (Yanoski) Korney. On August 1, 1959 he married Joyce Lynn (Bailey) Korney. She preceded him in death on June 18, 2012. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Joe retired from Caterpillar Inc. as a mechanic in the Experimental Department after 30 years of service. He was very proud to be a Journeyman. After his retirement from Caterpillar, Inc. he worked at Hall Chemical for 10 years. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post 435 in Glenn Campbell, PA. Joe is survived by one daughter (Pamela J. Gelormino and her husband Michael of Mentor, OH), one sister (Betty Fridley of Mentor, OH) and numerous friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter (Patty Jo Korney) , four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM from the funeral home with Pastor Doug Reid officiating.   4. Florence A. “Flo” Kulbacki, age 85 of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at her home. Born on May 18, 1937 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. and Evelyn (Doutt) Pringle On November 10, 1956 she married her husband of 66 years, Stanley M. Kulbacki. He survives. Flo, along with her husband had several businesses in DuBois over the years. She enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports. She was an avid Pirates, Steelers, Penguins and Pitt Panthers fan. Flo also loved bingo and going to Salamanca. Along with her husband, Flo is survived by two children (Michael Kulbacki and his wife Toni and William Kulbacki and his wife Vicki both of DuBois, PA), five grandchildren (Bill, Adam, Kaylee, Michael and Aaron), four great grandchildren (Mackenzie, Braylee, Madison and Maclyn), one sister (Cindy Hanna and her husband Thomas of Reynoldsville, PA),and one sister-in-law (Nancy Pringle of Penfield, PA). She was preceded in death by brothers George W. “Bill” Pringle and John Pringle, an infant brother and one sister-in-law Hazel Pringle. There will be no public visitation and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.   5. Louise M. Calliari, age 94 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on May 13, 1928 in Penfield, PA , she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Carmella (Flamio) Camise. Louise was a waitress at the Keystone Restaurant and the M&M Restaurant in DuBois for many years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Steeler fan. Louise is survived by three children (Thomas Calliari and his wife Doris of Brockway, PA; Susan Calliari and her husband Kenneth Flanick of Powell, OH; and Cheryl Burkes and her husband Ernie DuBois, PA), and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son (Gary Calliari), three brothers, two sisters, a grandson (Brian Calliari), and a great grandson (Lane Palmer). There will be no public visitation.   6. Shirley J. Bush, Age 83 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Christ the King Manor with her loving and devoted husband by her side. Born on December 20, 1939 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marlin and Olive (Frantz) Strouse. On July 26, 1959 she married Raymond C. Bush. He survives. Shirley graduated from Roseville High School in Roseville, CA in 1957 and she retired from Heller Springs Company after 25 years of service. Prior to that she spent 10 years at BF Goodrich in DuBois, PA and was a tax preparer for many years. Shirley was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois. She enjoyed reading, exploring the genealogy of her family and loved her dogs. In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by two children (Jeffrey L. Bush and his wife Donna of DuBois, PA and Gloria J. Dimick and her husband Thomas S. of State College, PA), four grandchildren (Nathan Bush and his wife Jamie, Yvonne Marshall and her husband Dan, and Tyler and Thomas R. Dimick), and three Great Grandchildren (Logan and Nolan Bush and Henry Marshall). Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers (Martin and Marlin Strouse). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   7. John Landini, Jr. age 92, of DuBois, PA, died Friday, December 30, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on December 7, 1930 in Brockway, PA, he was the late son of John and Philomena Catalono Landini. On August 25th, 1956, he married the love of his life, Nellie (McCluskey) Landini in St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He was a sergeant in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. When he returned home, he worked at multiple places including Nabsico and Owens-Illinois Brockway Glass in the Engine Room. John was a member of the Brockway American Legion and was a member and usher at Saint Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. John was a devoted husband, loving father, and affectionate grandfather. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, an expert gardener, and had an ultimate sweet tooth. John was also a man of immense faith and kindness. John is survived by three children: John Landini and his wife Karen of DuBois, David Landini and his wife Elizabeth of Portage, and Mary Rose Narus and her husband Anthony of Linglestown, ten grandchildren: Chelsea, Jacob, Patrick and his wife Christa, Sarah, Aubree, Brandon, Nathan, Ryan and his wife Shannon, Jordan, Sydney and her husband Andrew, and two great grandchildren: Nora and Roland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Landini, two brothers Michael and Jacob “Jack” Landini, three sisters: Helen Ralston, Dolly Stine, and Mary Mathews, and a nephew, Michael Veltri. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   8. Ryan D. Crytser, age 18 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home. Born on January 6, 2004 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Edward A. and JoAnn Garthwaite Crytser. Ryan was a June of 2022 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He enjoyed fishing, X-Box, computers, 3-D Printing and riding bikes with his friends. Along with his parents, Ryan is survived by his brothers; Adam Crytser (Kris) of Big Run, PA, Jacob Crytser and Jordan Crytser both of DuBois, PA, his paternal grandmother Yvonne Crytser of DuBois, PA, and one nephew Jack Crytser. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Jack Crytser, his maternal grandfather Richard Garthwaite and his maternal grandmother Helen Garthwaite who passed away on December 28, 2022. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4 -7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.   9. Helen M. Garthwaite, age 86 of Falls Creek, PA died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Christ the King Manor. Born on November 19, 1936 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Viola (Pifer) Maloney. On March 20, 1959, she married Richard F. Garthwaite. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2022. Helen was a homemaker. She was Catholic by faith. She enjoyed visiting with her friends as well as strangers. Helen is survived by her children; Richard Garthwaite, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Falls Creek, PA, John Garthwaite and his wife Brenda of Sabula, PA and JoAnn Crytser and her husband Edward of DuBois, PA, twelve grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother; Thomas Pifer. Her grandson, Ryan Crytser passed away on December 29, 2022. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4 -7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   10. Paul F. Gibala, age 55, died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Shadyside. Born on September 30, 1967 in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of Stanley F. Gibala and the late Antoinette H. Matzus. His father survives and lives in DuBois, PA. Paul attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He worked as a social worker for the Arc of Clearfield and Jefferson County in Personal Habitation Services. Paul was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and attended the DuBois Light and Life Church. He was a very spiritual and charitable individual and loved serving people. Along with his father, Paul is survived by his brother Mark S. Gibala of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his mother Antoinette, his maternal grandparents Anthony and Mary Matzus and his paternal grandparents Stanley and Olive Gibala. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 6 – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   11. Jason G. Dixon, Sr. age 58 of Luthersburg, PA died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at his home. Born on July 25, 1964 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late James and Ruth “Dolly” (Gregory) Dixon. On June 30, 2007, he married Lisa (Sulin) Dixon. She survives. Jason was a welding supervisor at Gasbarre Products Inc for the past 17 years. Previous to that he had worked at RESCAR for many years. Jason loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle “LuLu”, loved fishing at the pond, hunting, and going to dirt track races with his boys. Above all, he loved spending time with his entire family. In addition to his wife, Jason is survived by three children (Jason G. Dixon, Jr. and Justin E. Dixon, both of Falls Creek, PA, and Shelby E. Dixon of Clearwater, FL), two step children (Brandon Groves of Marietta, GA, and Justina Sulin of Luthersburg, PA), a grandson (Gage R. Dixon), a sister (Sherry Brumbaugh and her husband Dennis of Luthersburg, PA), and four nieces (Denielle Brumbaugh, Heather Werner, Jaynelle Horchen (Andy), and Heidi Piè (Josh)), and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Dixon. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2023 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   12. Carol Lee Armagost, age 68 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on January 4, 1954 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Ella V. (Milliron) Armagost. Carol moved to DuBois in 2019 after living in Emporium, PA for 45 years. She retired from GKN Sintered Metals in Emporium as a technician after 40 years of service. Carol is survived by one brother William L. Armagost and his wife Deanne and one sister Nancy Jo Horak and her husband Edward both of DuBois, PA, two nieces; Tammy and Susan and three nephews; Rich, Alex and Zack.   13. William L. Wachob, age 75 of Luthersburg, PA, died Monday, December 26, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on January 16, 1947 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Lester G. Wachob who survives and lives in Luthersburg, and the late Esther E. (Thompson) Wachob. On January 16, 1965 he married his wife of 57 years Martha J. (Muth) Wachob. She survives. Bill retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Company after 23 years of service. After his retirement from the gas company, he became a self-employed dairy farmer. He was a life member of Brady Township Fire, Rescue, and Ambulance Inc. where he served as Fire Chief from 1974 until 1978. Bill also enjoyed hunting. Bill is survived by his children Michael L. Wachob (Joseph A. Lansberry), and Scott Wachob, both of Luthersburg, PA, two grandchildren; Chicgo Callender and Matthew Wachob, one great grandchild, Takoda Callender, two brothers; Thomas D. Wachob and his wife Colleen and Robert G. Wachob and his wife Judy, both of Luthersburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 4 – 7 PM and Friday, December 30, 2022 from 10 – 11 AM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   14. Carmen A. Pape, age 92 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, December 24, 2022 at his home. Born on December 9, 1930 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Louis M. & Anna Galletta Pape. On May 12, 1956 in Punxsutawney, PA he married his wife of 66 years, Patricia A. (Burley) Pape. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2022. Carmen was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. In 1988, Carmen retired after 28 yeas of service from Ward Trucking as a driver. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church and was a life member of the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department’s J.E. DuBois Hose Company # 3 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars for over 65 years. Carmen was an avid fisherman, enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and spending the winter months in Florida. Carmen is survived by his children (Debra Jiamachello and her husband Joseph of Broadview Heights, OH, Diane Zack and her husband James of Greensburg, PA, Darlene McFate and her husband Okie of St. Augustine, FL, Karen Haky and her husband Michael of Cranberry Township, PA and Rick Pape and his wife JoEllen of DuBois, PA), eleven grandchildren (Shannon, Matthew, Kacie, Lyndi, Isaac, Megan, Sarah, Ryan, Anthony, Corinne and Ashlynn), eight great grandchildren and a brother (Peter Pape and his wife Elaine of Punxsutawney, PA). He was preceded in death by a brother (Rocco Pape) and two sisters (Frances Stojek & Concetta Pape) Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Josephine Ann "Joey" Binkowski, beloved wife of the late Peter Binkowski, died peacefully at the age of 95 on November 17, 2022, at her daughter’s home in DuBois, PA, where she had resided for the last several years. Born in Mount Carmel, PA, she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Aniela (Gabauer) Prostko. Joey was a resident of Derby, CT, for over 60 years and was a devout member of St. Peter and St. Paul Church. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the P. Francini Construction Company for many years until her retirement. Joey was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed champagne with her husband, cooking for her family and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. After retirement, she helped care for her grandchildren. She prayed the rosary daily, and cherished having her family over for Sunday dinner. She is survived by her devoted children: Peter Binkowski and his wife Mary, of Broomfield, CO; Alan Binkowski and his wife, Janet of Pawcatuck, CT; Nancy Beaulieu and her husband, Ryan of Bethany, CT; and Carol Rehermann and her husband, Richard of DuBois, PA. She had thirteen cherished grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law and lifelong neighbor, Maura Binkowski. She was the last surviving member of the Prostko family. Joey was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Prostko; and sisters, Catherine Rogevich, Helen Pilarsky, Genevieve Jason, Sister Jane Mary Prostko and Rita Strecker.   16. Karen Ann Weisner, age 79 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, December 18, 2022 at her home. Born on March 22, 1943 in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Betty Jane (Kisskadden) Tonkovich. On December 26, 1961 she married Jerome Weisner, Sr. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2005. Karen had been a bus driver for Clepper Bus Service for five years and had also worked at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. Karen was an avid bowler in the DuBois area for over sixty years, she enjoyed trips to Salamanca and working on crafts and was a huge Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Karen is survived by her children; Shelly Caine and her husband Ed of Falls Creek, PA, Marrianne Gearhart and her husband Bud of DuBois, PA, Michael Weisner and his wife Suzi of Annapolis, MD and Jerome Weisner, Jr. and his wife Tammy of DuBois, PA, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.   17. Anthony S. Guido, age 88 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on May 27, 1934 in Tyler, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nancy (Cataldi) Guido. On September 30, 1961, he married his wife of 61 years, Margaret A. (DeLullo) Guido. She survives. Tony was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with honors and went on to graduate from the Dickinson School of Law with honors. Tony was an attorney for over 60 years. He was a partner in the Law Firm of Hanak, Taladay and Guido. Prior to that, he was in private practice. He was a member of the State of Pennsylvania Bar Association as well as the Bar in Clearfield, Jefferson and Elk Counties. Tony was the former Campaign Chairman and President of the DuBois Area United Way, former Board Member and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the DuBois Hospital, former Advisory Board Member of Vines Country Club, Fort Myers, FL, former member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Dubois Country Club and a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion. Along with his wife, Tony is survived by four children; John A. Guido and his wife Kelly of Flint Hill, VA, James P. Guido and his wife Dianne of Jupiter, FL, Mary Meredith and her husband Paul of DuBois, PA, and Margie Guido and her husband John Hawkins of Alexandria, VA, five grandchildren; Hannah, Weston, Liam, Erin and Renee and one sister Joann Segalla of Weedville, PA.   18. William R. “Bill” Heitzenrater, age 74 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at his home. Born on July 3, 1948 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late H. Vaughn and J. Ethel (Bodenhorn) Heitzenrater. On April 20, 1968 he married Judith “Judy” (Leksell) Heitzenrater. She survives. Bill was a 1966 graduate of Punxsutawney High School. Upon graduating from Penn State University, DuBois with an Electrical and Electronic Technology Associate Degree, he went to work for Bell of PA in Harrisburg, working 13 years in the Engineering Circuit Layout Bureau. In 1981 he transferred to Outside Facilities Engineering in DuBois until his retirement in 2002. Bill served for six years with the United States Army Reserve, 316th Station Hospital as a medical corpsman, achieving the rank of SP5. He was also an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America for 18 years. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two children; Christina (Mike) Delp of Coudersport, PA and Richard Heitzenrater of Corpus Cristi, TX, three grandchildren; Noah and Nash Delp and Kylie Heitzenrater, one sister Yvonne (Laverne) Thompson of Big Run, PA and one brother Charles Heitzenrater of Erie, PA.   19. Donna M. Miller, age 67 of Reynoldsville, PA died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at her home. Born on November 24, 1955 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Martin) Roush. On August 30, 1986 she married Paul “Lee” Miller. He survives. Donna retired from Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital as the manager of Medical Records after many years of service. She loved camping, ceramics, arts and crafts and her dogs. Above all, she loved being with her family and following their many activities. Donna was especially excited about the birth of her first great grandchild.   21. Randall T. Vargas, age 53 of DuBois, PA died Friday, December 9, 2022 at his home. Born on December 18, 1968 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Thomas E. and Frances J. (Yakulis) Vargas. They survive and live in DuBois, PA. Randy was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School and held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the Pennsylvania State University. He was passionate about tennis and golf and had served as the Tennis Pro at Toftrees at University Park. Randy was very active in Scouts for over 20 years. He was currently employed with the Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania and had previously worked for the Boy Scouts of America Bucktail Council for many years. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks #519 in Reynoldsville, PA and had volunteered with Pennsylvania Special Olympics and the American Red Cross. “Tex” loved playing cards with his friends.   22. Ted L. Reitz, age 84 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Christ The King Manor. Born on November 14, 1938 in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Paul G. and Dorothy F. (Feldman) Reitz. On December 30, 1971 he married his wife of 50 years, Addie L. (Hayman) Reitz. She survives. Along with his wife, Ted is survived by his children; Tracie Young and her husband Bill of Charlotte, SC, Ginger Reed and her husband Brian of Creekside, PA, Vickie Watters and her husband Tom of Indiana, PA, Michael Reitz and Ann Reitz Krieger both of League City, TX, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one sister; Nancy Micks and her husband John of DuBois, PA Ted was born into a family of hard workers. His parents instilled a tremendous work ethic in him that carried him throughout his life. Over his 42-year career, he successfully worked in many facets of the grocery business founded by his family, Riverside Markets. Though he ended his career as an executive with Penn Traffic, his favorite job was driving trucks. Ted Reitz was an exemplary man. His personal accomplishments were many, but it was his strength of character, integrity, work ethic, willingness to help others, spirited personality, and twinkle in his eye that are the attributes for which he will surely be remembered. Ted was a man of few words, letting his actions speak for him. He was truly a decent human being, and will be dearly missed. He loved golf, cards, spending time with friends and family, business, travel, keeping an immaculate lawn, and helping others. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and involved in many aspects of the community. Born on August 15, 1951 in Key West, FL, he was the son of the late Robert and Evelyn (Atwell Bethel). On March 31, 1971 he married his wife of 51 years Linda (McClantoc) Bethel. She survives. Bruce and Linda and their family moved to West Liberty in 1983. He was a graduate of Key West High School, the DuBois Business College, ITEC, and Transport Tech. Bruce was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Sykesville, PA. He was devoted to Christ, his family, his church and his friends.   24. Diane L. Smith, age 70 of DuBois, PA died Friday, December 2, 2022 at her home. Born on December 31, 1951 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lamar and Olive (Korb) Shaffer. On June 6, 1970, she married her husband of 52 years, James W. Smith. He survives. Diane retired from the DuBois branch office of PNC Bank after 45 years of service. Sha had attended Salem United Methodist church and enjoyed bingo, coloring, and cooking and baking for her family. Diane also loved to sing and was half of the well known duo, the “Singing D’s”. Diane is survived by her son (Matthew J. Smith and his wife Nantana of DuBois, PA), a grandson (Carter Smith, and four sisters (Sharon Muth of Luthersburg, PA, Lois Bickel of Chestnut Grove, PA, Betty Shaffer of Bloomville, OH, and Connie Shaffer Farrell of DuBois, PA).   25. Joseph A. Pearce, age 82 of DuBois, PA died Monday, November 28, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on February 24, 1940 in Glen Campbell, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Helen V. (James) Pearce. On September 10, 2011 he married Sue (Thomas) Pearce. She survives. Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War. He was the owner/operator of Pearce Janitorial Service for many years, and was also the owner/operator of 4 Paws Grooming for over 10 years. Joe was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and had been an avid bowler for many years. He also loved to tinker with cars and was an animal lover. Along with his wife Sue, Joe is survived by his two children; Joseph E. Pearce of DuBois, PA and Sherry Ann White of South Carolina, his three step children; Michael Nightingale of Churubusco, IN, Daniel Nightingale of New Harmony, IN and Heather Salling of Brockway, PA, ten grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, seven siblings; Charles Pearce of Brockport, PA, Karen Harry and Cathy Senior both of Brockway, PA, Rick Pearce and William Pearce both of DuBois, PA, Doug Pearce of Reynoldsville, PA and Dave Pearce of Falls Creek, PA.
