Upcoming Exhibit: St. Leo's Student Art Open House

The Elk County Council on the Arts (ECCOTA) is pleased to feature the artwork of second grade students from St. Leo's School in Ridgway, Pa. Artwork was created during the class's recent Arts in Education residency hosted with ECCOTA through their partnership with Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA). The art open house will give students a chance to present their work to the art community in a professional gallery setting.

During the residency, students worked with local artists to learn art's impact - and their impact - on their communities. With the help of artists PJ Piccirillo, Julie Mader, Rich Valley Apiary, and Susan Gobbel, students learned about storytelling, complimentary colors, painting, and jewelry making while also learning about identity, community, nature, beekeeping, fossils, ecosystems, and our impact on the environment.

Students and artists will come together, along with their families, for the open house as a final community celebration. The art open house will take place Friday, May 10th, 5-7 pm. Light refreshments will be served and the public is enthusiastically encouraged to attend and help support young artists.

Opening Reception: Friday, May 10th, 5-7pm.
Exhibit will Run: May 1 - May 20, 2019
