Event details

Autumn Guido, Social Worker with the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services of the PA Department of Labor & Industry, will speak at the Clearfield Center for Active Living on Wednesday, October 22. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., she will discuss various services available through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

VISUAL SERVICES AT CLEARFIELD CENTER

The mission of the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services is to assist persons with visual impairments to secure and maintain independence. They assist those with progressive eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and retinitis pigmentosa. Other conditions include loss of vision due to a stroke or retinal detachment that causes significant limitations.

Their services are available to children and older individuals in achieving safety and independence through vision enhancement services, advocacy, counseling, information and referral, and assistive technology. Additionally they offer vocational rehabilitation to eligible individuals who need services to prepare for or retain employment.

No reservations are needed for the program; however, those wishing to have lunch after the program are asked to make a reservation the day before by calling the Center at 814-765-9319.

The Center is in its new location at 116 South Second Street in Clearfield. Information on this and other programs, meals, and activities is available by calling the Clearfield Center or visiting the CCAAA website at www.ccaaa.net.

Programs and services of the Agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc, Mature Resources Foundation, and local and consumer contributions.
