Administrators Pompeii Posted February 13, 2021 Administrators Share Posted February 13, 2021 Walter H. Dixon, age 81 of Punxsutawney, PA died Friday, February 12, 2021 at Christ The King Manor. Born on December 10, 1939 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Ellen (McNally) Dixon. On April 24, 1965 he married his wife of 56 years, Barbara M. (Syphrit) Dixon. She survives. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in the Vietnam War. Walter retired after over 40 years of service from Jefferson Wholesale Grocery in Punxsutawney, PA. He was a member of Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ, Brady Grange #1218 and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Walter enjoyed collecting HO Trains. He is survived by 2 sons; (Mark Dixon and his wife Stefanie of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael Dixon of Punxsutawney, PA), 5 grandchildren; (Michael, Cody, Caleb, Grant & Kiley Dixon), 1 sister (Jeanne Dixon of DuBois, PA) and 1 sister-in-law (Doris Danka of Big Run, PA). He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; (Ellen & Agnes Dixon). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 1 PM – 3 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Social distancing requirements will be followed and masks are required. We ask that you keep your visit brief so that everyone has a chance to pay their respects to the family. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 3 PM with Pastor Audra Ferguson officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the Jefferson County Honor Guard. Burial will take place in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ, 71 Hill Street, Troutville, PA 15866.
