Shirley Aline Hagen, (aka, “Grandma Shirley” to many) age 84 of DuBois, passed away Sunday February 6, 2022,  at home after a brief illness.

Born May 8th 1937, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Lester Kiel Zartman and the late June A. (Miles) Zartman-Lines.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Blythe H. Hagen whom she married on May 28, 1954 in DuBois. He has been an amazing caregiver the last two years, with help from many including her good friend Becca Tartal, who made it possible for her to stay in her own home.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois, where she greeted all the children with her candy bag.

Prior to 1964 she worked at Brockway Glass, then became a homemaker.

She loved to cook, shop, bowl and love on every child she met, earning the title of Grandma Shirley to many.  She was a 700 club bowler, little league team mom, and ran the concession stand. Many will remember her cow bell, trumpet and “charge cheer”.   She never missed an event any of her children or grandchildren were a part of and she spent many nights sitting at Showers field watching the local teams play.  She worked in the nursey at the church and as an Awana Cubbie leader at the church for many years.

She is survived by three children, Randolph L Hagen (and his wife Dona) of Enumclaw, WA, Richard L Hagen of Rockton PA, and Cindy L Hoffer (and her husband Mike) of DuBois, PA.

She is survived by 6 grandchildren Randall Hagen of Washington, Candice Hagen Shaw (and her husband Jerry) of Arizona, Erin Hagen of Rockton, Kristie Hoffer Kline (and her husband Kyle) of DuBois, Kyle Hoffer of Sewickley, & Kelli Hoffer of DuBois.  7 great grandchildren, Beckley Shaw, Corbin Shaw, Riley Hagen, Parker Kline, Carter Kline, Kamden Kline and Kinsley Kline.  She is also survived by one sibling, Lester L. Zartman (and his wife JoAnn) of DuBois and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a brother James H. Zartman and a sister June Ann Main.

Friends will be received Thursday, February 10th, 2022 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 11th at 11 AM from the First Baptist Church in DuBois with Reverend Mark Montgomery officiating.

Interment will be at the Morningside Cemetery.

Memorials can be sent to First Baptist Church, 197 Eastern Ave. DuBois PA 15801.
