Seth Burbank Pomeroy, age 85, of DuBois, PA passed away on Friday February 25th 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born On March 15, 1936 to the late Ray E. and Lila (Trow) Pomeroy, in Wilton, NH and was raised in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire.   Seth was a graduate of Milford, New Hampshire High School in 1954. In high school Seth was an active member of the student body. He was the Class Treasurer, participated in chess club and 4H, and was on the Student Prints and Yearbook Staff. Seth was also a performer, acting in (among others) the Senior Class Play ‘The Robe’. It was in this play he acquired the nickname “Zeke”, a name his wife used with him affectionately for the rest of his life.

After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for three years during the Korean Conflict. After his enlistment, Seth put himself through school at the University of New Hampshire graduating in 1964 with his Bachelors in Civil Structural Engineering. Seth became a Professional Engineer in March of 1969.

He used that training and expertise to contribute to the steel calculations and drawing for the World Trade Center in New York and the U.S. Steele Building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (known now as the UPMC building).  From there he built and repaired glass furnaces for a number of glass production companies including Brockway Glass, Thatcher Glass and Ball. He retired as an executive in 2001 from Saint-Gobain Glass. Throughout his life, Seth was not only a respected and successful engineer, he was also a devoted father of four, spending time coaching little league and as a Boy Scout Leader.

In his retirement, Seth traded in the blustery winters of the north for the sunshine and warmth of Vero Beach, Florida. He and Martha bought a house that not only became their home for half of the year, but also served as a favorite vacation spot for his friends and family alike. This house was not only special for the retreat and relaxation it offered him after all his years of hard work, but it was a house that had been in the family for many years. While back in Pennsylvania during the summer months, you would often find him on the Owens Brockway Golf Course. Seth was an avid golfer and loved competing with friends and participating in weekly leagues. He shared that love of golf with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, all who accompanied him and did their best to keep up with their beloved “Puppup”. Over the years Seth worked on his impressive stamp collection. Anyone close to him knew to take great care in returning stamps to him.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 65 years, Martha Arlene (McMillen) Pomeroy, whom he married in 1957, his four children Patrick (Leslie), Michael (Jacqueline), Dawn, and Seth Jr (Lori), 11 grandchildren Janyl (Dan), Kari (Chris), Patrick (Nicole), Tabatha (Bryan), Kayla, Adaire, Zachary, Savanna, Joshua, Marissa and Nicole and 9 great grandchildren Breaunna, Dagny, Daniel Burbank, Natalie, Garrison, Aubrey, Beckham Burbank, Adelynn and Tenzlie, also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen and brothers Ray, Jr., Carl, Fred and Keith. Seth was the last surviving sibling.
