Pinchock, Helen L..jpg
Helen Louise (Uren) Pinchock, age 99, a life long Eastside resident of DuBois, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at her home with her loving daughters arms around her at 9:57 a.m.

Born on April 29, 1923 on Sherman Avenue in DuBois, Helen was the youngest daughter of the late James Uren and Jeanette (Buskirk) Uren and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In 1948, Helen married the love of her life, Edward Albert Pinchock in Mercer, PA. They met at the St. James Hotel dancing in downtown DuBois and enjoyed 64 years of marriage until Ed passed away on Veteran’s Day in 2012.

Helen was a DAHS graduate of the Class of 1940 and was known as “PeeWee Uren” because of her tiny, petite structure! She was a lifetime member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois and was previously active in the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen was also a lifetime member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 VFW Auxiliary where she served as a past Trustee for several terms. She enjoyed helping the ladies in the kitchen for many events held at the  VFW and was honored to place flags on every veterans grave at the Morningside Cemetery  for Memorial Day services.

Helen worked for Sylvania in Emporium, PA, then returned home to DuBois to help her mother. While working at Jeffers Electronics next, she received a very exciting call in September of 1957 that a baby girl was born in Binghamton, NY! She gave immediate notice and was so excited that she just became a mother! Six days later Helen and Ed  drove to Binghamton, NY and brought their baby home!! In the late 60’s, Helen attended and graduated from the cosmetology school and maintained her cosmetology license for many years. Lastly, Helen worked for Murphy’s Mart in the merchandising office and retired in 1985. After retiring, Helen and Ed volunteered for Meals on Wheels delivering meals to the community residents for many years.

Years ago, Helen enjoyed knitting, dancing polka with Ed at wedding celebrations, canning pickles, watching Days of Our Lives and the QVC channel, she always wrote notes or cards to her daughter and grandson in Kansas. She loved to bake wonderful walnut bread rolls each year around the Christmas holiday to share and loved going to her brother’s camp in First Fork over the years to relax and play cards (Tripoley) till the wee hours in the morning. Most recently, she enjoyed the Hallmark movie channel, Wheel of Fortune and her word scrabble book. Helen loved holidays and special  occasions. She went out of her way to make each event spectacular for her family.

Helen was very devoted in her faith in God and enjoyed reading her daily devotions. She lived a simple life, enjoyed simple things and was happy! Helen had a very generous heart for the people she cared about. Above all, she and Ed loved spending time together as a family and visiting their daughter and grandson in Kansas. Helen was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Helen is deeply missed  by her daughter Debra Renee Lindberg of DuBois, PA and her grandson Dirk Edward Lindberg of Paola, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other family members. Jack Edward, the family dog misses his Grammie too.

Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Uren and her brothers; Everett, Merle, James “Hop” and Don Uren and Percy Fyock.
