Carol Spicher Brubaker, age 90, passed away peacefully on  Monday, October 23, 2023, at Christ the King Manor.


Carol was born in Rockton, PA on November 12, 1932, the fifth of ten children born to the late Lester and Leona (Kirk) Spicher. 


She graduated from DuBois High School, Class of 1950, and married Edwin Brubaker on February 16, 1951.  They recently celebrated 72 years of marriage.


Carol was a homemaker who enjoyed playing the piano, working on genealogy, feeding her hummingbirds, reading and doing crossword puzzles.


In addition to her husband Ed, Carol is survived by two daughters and two sons: Lori (Don) Playfoot, of DuBois, Dick (Patti) Brubaker, of Rockton, Wendy (Steve) Way, of DuBois, and Ernie (Laura) Brubaker, of Versailles, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) Kriner, Jeremy (Becky) Brubaker, Jamie (Jeff) Hall, Joy (Andrew) Bundy, Chris (Ashley) Way, Katie Way, Katelyn (Nick) Gessner, and Lindsay (Josh) Boone, as well as seven great-grandchildren.


She is also survived by her siblings: Mary Lou Miller and her husband, Bob, Marilyn Sayers, and Allen Spicher, all of the DuBois area.


Carol was predeceased by two sisters, Miriam Kirk and Mildred Dillingham; and four brothers, Donald, Raymond, Robert and Kenneth Spicher.  She was also predeceased by a grandson, Charles Mark Playfoot, and a great-grandson, Aidan Thomas Gessner.


Visitation will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Chapel at Christ the King Manor, with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Rick Howe officiating.


Burial will follow at Rockton Cemetery.


The family is very thankful for the loving care given by the staff of Christ the King Memory Support.
