Long, age 84 of DuBois, PA, formerly a longtime resident of Rockton, PA died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on September 20, 1939 in Rockton, PA, he was the son of the late Amos and Mildred (Anthony) Long. On September 9, 1961 he married his wife of 62 years, Gloria R. (Hauck) Long. She survives. Gary was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He retired from Bell Atlantic in 1999 after a 32 ½ year career. Gary enjoyed hang gliding and was an avid bicycle rider. In his later years he learned to play the guitar and played in a country music group during his winters in Florida. Gary and Gloria have been active in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church throughout their lives. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children (Lori Krukowski and her companion Rich of Dunmore, PA and Robert Long and his wife Kimberly of Midlothian, TX), three grandchildren (Heather Learn and her husband Kevin of Oceanside, NY, Jaylyn Long of Altoona, PA, and Charlie Banks of Blairsville, PA), and two great grandchildren ( Elliott and Graham Learn). Gary was preceded in death by his son in law (Richard Krukowski) and two brothers (Richard and Terry Long). There will be no public visitation and a service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
