Administrators Pompeii Posted November 3, 2023 Administrators Share Posted November 3, 2023 Charles E. Murphy, age 78 o Rockton, PA died Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at his home. Born on August 3, 1945 in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Chester and Louise (Payton) Murphy. On September 19, 1991 he married Sherry L. (McCauslin) Murphy. She survives. Charles retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army after a 20-year career that included two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from the military, Charles served as a security officer at the DuBois Christian School over the past 5 years, a job that he loved. He attended First Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading. Charles was a proud member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a philanthropic organization that supported children in Kentucky. Charles is also survived by his two daughters (Catherine M. McBurnett and her husband Josh of Southside, AL and Melisa A. Jenkins and her husband Chase of Rainbow City, AL), four grandchildren (Andrew & Greenlee McBurnett, Erica Cash and her husband Bo and Talon Jenkins). He was preceded in death by two brothers (George and Andrew Murphy). There will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM from the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating.
