Administrators Pompeii Posted January 30 Administrators Share Posted January 30 Richard A. “Dick” Shimmel, Sr. , age 77 of Luthersburg, PA died Sunday, January 28, 2024 at his home. Born on April 25, 1946, in Hyde, PA, he was the son of the late Anna Mae Shimmel. On May 2, 1962 he married Dorothy E. (Schoening) Shimmel. She preceded him in death on August 6, 2020. Dick had worked at Paris Uniform Rentals, Goodwill Industries, and Forsyth Drilling. He loved to go on long rides, enjoyed cooking with his wife and above all, he loved to be with his family and his two dogs Rinkles and Sissy. Dick is survived by his children; (Richard A. Shimmel, Jr. and his wife Anna of Sykesville, PA, Betty J. Sebring & her husband Jamie of Sabula, PA, Benjamin L. Shimmel & his wife Colleen of Luthersburg, PA and Greg P. Shimmel & his wife Jessica of Luthersburg, PA), thirteen grandchildren, four step grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and one sister (Helen Pierce of DuBois, PA). He was preceded in death by an infant son, two grandsons (Josh Shimmel and Bradley E. Heffner), one step granddaughter (Brittany Sebring), one sister and two brothers. As per Dick’s wishes, there will be no public visitation and a private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
