Throughout her life, Betty was always involved in volunteer activities.  As a girl scout troop leader, a Maple Avenue Hospital Auxiliary volunteer, United Way Board volunteer, member of First United Methodist Church, DuBois Class of 1946 Alumnae Society, Betty believed in giving back to her community through her time and her service. She treasured her time with her family and her friends, and opened her home for numerous holiday events, super bowl parties, birthday parties, and graduation celebrations.

Following the passing of her husband in 2016, Betty moved to DuBois Village,  then to Fulton, Maryland to be closer to her children.  Interment will be in the Morningside Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her three children:  Valerie (Jeffrey) Wetstone of Columbia, Maryland; Linda Tock of North Tonawanda, New York; Jeffrey Shenkle of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two of her three brothers, Glen (Pert) Stewart and Ron Stewart.

The family will have a private gravesite service later this summer.
