  3. Note: Wall St Journal broke this story. They would be the last media to ever post a negative story against Epstein. Things are changing ... its called DRIP DRIP DRIP, to wake people up. REPORT: Epstein’s Private Calendar Shows Meetings With International Business, Political Power Players JAMES LYNCH REPORTER April 30, 2023 The private calendar of deceased financier and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein shows meetings with international political and business leaders, documents reviewed by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) show. The documents show Epstein met with former Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler on numerous occasions between her time in the government and her current position with Goldman Sachs, according to WSJ. Epstein first scheduled to meet Ruemmler in August 2014 and planned to introduce her to acquaintances afterwards. Their first meeting occurred after Epstein called her about potentially representing the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the philanthropic organization run by billionaire Bill Gates and his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, a Goldman Sachs spokesperson told WSJ. A spokesperson for Gates said Epstein never worked for Gates, his relationship with Gates was misrepresented and that Gates regrets having met him, according to the outlet. Over the next few years, Epstein and Ruemmler met more than three dozen times while she was a white-collar defense attorney for prominent law firm Latham & Watkins, the documents show. Ruemmler had a professional relationship with Epstein and did not travel with him, the Goldman Sachs spokesperson told WSJ. “In the normal course, Epstein also invited her to meetings and social gatherings, introduced her to other business contacts and made referrals,” the spokesperson said. “It was the same kinds of contacts and engagements she had with other contacts and clients.” Epstein was not a client at the firm, a spokesperson for Latham & Watkins told WSJ. Epstein connected Ruemmler with Ariane de Rothschild, who now serves as CEO of Swiss private bank Edmond de Rothschild Group, WSJ reported. The introduction led to the bank hiring Latham & Watkins for U.S. regulatory purposes, the bank and Goldman spokesperson told the outlet. Epstein would meet with de Rothschild more than a dozen times for business deals, helping find staff and other matters. She purchased nearly $1 million of auctioned items for Epstein in 2014 and 2015, and she negotiated a $25 million contract between Epstein’s Southern Trust Co. and the bank in 2015. Edmond de Rothschild group told WSJ she met with him from 2013-19 and introduced him to U.S. finance leaders, recommended law firms and consulted with him on taxes and risk. The bank said in 2019 de Rothschild never met with Epstein, a statement they acknowledged was not accurate. Additionally, the bank told WSJ de Rothschild was unaware of Epstein’s past and she supports the victims after learning about his behavior. Epstein also scheduled more than a dozen meetings from 2013-19 with Joshua Cooper Ramo, then-co-CEO of Henry Kissinger’s consulting firm and board member for Starbucks and FedEx. Many of his appointments with Epstein were scheduled after 5 p.m. at Epstein’s townhouse, WSJ found. One meeting took place in 2013 with Epstein and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, another individual who met with Epstein regularly, the documents show. Barak typically met with Epstein when he took trips to New York City and Epstein regularly introduced him to people for geopolitical discussions, WSJ reported. “He often brought other interesting persons, from art or culture, law or science, finance, diplomacy or philanthropy,” Barak told the outlet. Epstein was convicted by Florida prosecutors in June 2008 for procuring and soliciting a minor for prostitution, per WSJ. He spent 13 months in a work-release program and was registered as a sex offender. In July 2019, Epstein was charged for alleged sex trafficking by federal prosecutors after reporting by the Miami Herald about Epstein’s sexual abuse drew significant public scrutiny. Epstein was found dead in his jail cell in August 2019 — it was ruled a suicide. His romantic partner and co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, was sentenced in June 2022 to 20 years in prison for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.

  8. One Thing, Jesus Christ - Article #3 - Fourth Series - May 1st, 2023 by Fr. Ben Daghir Article: The Cross on Mount Zion Road in Weedville, PA is a powerful place. I have had the honor of being there many times. Without the cross, it would be just another lookout. Yet, it is something completely different as a result of it. One looks out toward the beautiful Elk County hills and one is also challenged to look within. The cross depicted in Christianity demands that we consider what is of utmost value in life. It demands that we consider the Christian story. In a beautiful way the cross, which 2,000 years ago was a cruel and brutal instrument of torture used by the Romans, seems to fit on the Mount Zion Road as it does in so many places throughout the world. What once instilled fear into millions by the hand of Caesar, now gives us hope and comfort. This is very interesting and we shouldn’t take it for granted. We owe a tremendous amount to those early Christians who were bold. They held the cross high almost as a taunt to the Romans. Many of these Christians were martyred and some were thrown to the lions in the Colosseum. It’s very easy to forget how many have suffered for the sake of the Gospel in order for us to be Christians today, in order for the cross to stand on the Mount Zion hillside and in places all over the globe. Yet, Christians have consistently clung to the cross of Jesus Christ because something remarkable happened on it. Jesus took on all the weight of fear, sin, and death. He took on all evil’s dysfunction, betrayal, hatred, chaos, disorder, and pain. His blood then poured into all of the effects of sin, all the way to its cause - pride. As Adam grasped in dysfunction, Jesus poured Himself in love. As Adam elevated himself to be like God, Jesus humbled Himself taking the cross as His throne. Incredible. Beautiful. Powerful. The Carthusian order has this motto “The Cross is steady while the world turns.” I’ve thought about this quote while visiting the Mount Zion Cross. I’ve seen the world turn from that cross as the leaves change colors in the fall, as snow blankets the landscape in the winter, as springtime emerges, and as summer becomes green. I’ve been to that cross with people who are now deceased. I’ve seen my hopes and dreams change each time I visit the cross over the years. Yet, the cross is steady. It remains. In other words, the Carthusians, like those earliest Christians, are right - the cross is steady while the world turns. We have all seen the world turn, change, and shake its fleeting head at us. The cross, on the other hand, remains secure. It tells us there’s something more, something far greater than this world has to offer. ======================== Fr. Ben Daghir is a priest for the Diocese of Erie. He is a graduate of Elk County Catholic High School in Saint Marys, Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, and St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. He considers writing one of his favorite hobbies.

  10. HISTORICAL SOCIETY SPRING WALK IN FALLS CREEK Falls Creek is celebrating 175 years in 2023. The DuBois Area Historical Society will join in the activities by holding its 14th Spring Walk in Falls Creek on Saturday, May 13. The DuBois Area Historical Society defines its service area as the same as the DuBois Area School District. The walk is free and open to all. One of the Society’s newest board members Brian Leech is organizing the walk starting at 10:30 a.m. from the Falls Creek playground. Stops are planned at Taylor Park, the old high school building, the former Jackson China Site, the old railroad station, and several other locations throughout the community. The walk is free and open to all. Falls Creek was founded in 1848, but it was not until years later that Joseph Taylor (1843-1918) and Snyder Fuller were responsible for much of its development. The first settlers arrived in the Falls Creek area in 1824 and the borough was established in Washington Township, Jefferson County in 1839. At its conception Falls Creek was divided into two communities, Falls Creek and Evergreen. When an application was made for a post office, it was learned that another community in Pennsylvania was named Evergreen, so the name was changed to Victor. The entire community was officially named Falls Creek when J. F. Reed was named postmaster in 1889. NOTE: The DuBois Area Historical Society is holding a fund raiser in cooperation with Buck’s Pizza of DuBois, on Monday and Tuesday, May 15 & 16. A voucher is required and may be printed at the Society’s website www.duboishs.com or obtained at the historical society museum.
