  3. One Thing, Jesus Christ - Article #4 - Fourth Series - May 8th, 2023 by Fr. Ben Daghir Editor's Note: Fr. Ben Daghir wrote this historical fiction story while studying at the Institute for Priestly Formation at Creighton University in the summer of 2018. The story focuses on the last moments in the life of Saint Peter while in Rome. Article: Peter’s eye sight is weakened as he’s crucified upside-down below the hot, Roman sun. The heat beats on his face and the sunlight glows on his blood. He desires to only be in the shadow of the Lord. This has always been his mission since he left Jerusalem – the shadow reminds him that he’s near Jesus. Shadows and darkness used to scare him, but now they only remind him of his love for the Crucified One. He can barely breathe, but his strength as a fisherman has returned from within his old bones. He’s found the balance on this Roman cross – his years on a boat have helped him. He catches the grace and realizes even more that God has been forming him since his youth. Peter begins to forget about the nails through his hands and feet, the excruciating pain, and even himself. As the blood flows from his heart, it’s replaced by Christ’s words which enter back into the organ which has spread the truth across an entire continent. He hears a voice that he’s familiar with and forgets about the world around him, “Do you love me?...Someone else will dress you…Come after me…Do not be afraid…Feed my sheep!” Peter immediately gets spiritually attacked and begins to think about denying Jesus three times. Peter is much more aware of this internal threat than he is of the Roman guards that are mocking him. They hate Peter because they’ve never met a criminal so calm before a cross. Peter decides to quench his fists and lifts his body up while refusing to fall into the dark thoughts. He silently prays, “Lord, help me give it a shepherd’s care.” The Roman guards then hear Peter shout “Yes!” three separate times. Quicker than the blood flowing down his chest do the memories of denying Jesus leave his heart and mind. The Roman soldiers are amazed with this man and hate his joy. These murderers are the most trained soldiers in the world, yet they don’t realize that Peter is enduring a much different war. Peter prays for them under his breath and he can relate to their weaknesses. In them, he sees a much younger, weaker Peter. His brother, Andrew, comes to mind. Peter enjoys the memories of his brother – especially the day he first met Jesus. He prays for his brother and thanks God for the memories coming back to him. Peter snaps out of his thoughts once a Roman guard kicks him in the mouth. He chokes on his blood. No longer pondering his thoughts, he looks up at his bloody body. The blood only fuels his prayer. Again, Peter hears powerful words from Christ. “Take this all of you and drink from it.” “You will never wash my feet” and the memory makes him smirk with a grin. The Roman guard sees his smile and draws his hand on his sword. “I’ve given you a model – as you should also do” and the flashbacks keep coming back to Peter. The Roman guards hear, “Yes, Lord!” He is kicked in the face another time. Blood splashes onto the soil. Peter looks around – he sees Roman legs walking around him. He loses hope and begins to fear. He responds with a whisper to the Lord and says, “God, help me to stay sober and alert. Evil is prowling around me. Let me be solid in faith.” Then, suddenly, a drop of blood falls from his feet and into his eyes. He looks up toward Heaven. Peter’s mind takes him to the Sermon on the Mount and he hears, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Just then, the Roman sun moves west behind the foot of the cross. The temperature cools. He regains his strength. A shadow is now cast over Peter. He desires the shadow of the cross. Only once before has he felt so much joy in his life – in the presence of the Risen Christ. “I’m supposed to be here, Lord” Peter says toward Heaven. Peter begins to cry for the first time today. The Roman guards laugh – they believe that they have finally broken the Christian leader’s spirit. One Roman, out of pride, runs over and kicks the Galilean in the head as hard as he can. Peter shakes the blow and never looks down toward earth again. He focuses solely on the foot of the cross. The Roman guard looks back toward the criminal. Peter then whispers, “You told me that I’m the rock, you called me, you love me. Jesus, I love you.” Peter is spiritually attacked another time and his mind races back to the Agony in the Garden. Peter hears a voice that he has learned to ignore but it still enters his mind, “You’ve failed him so many times Peter. You’ve always been a failure. You will fail again today.” Peter breathes slowly and responds, “Lord, not what I will, but what you will.” Near Peter’s feet comes a sound that says, “Follow me.” He tastes his own blood and can only see through one eye. He responds, “Yes, Lord – you know that I love you.” The sun continues its course west and the shadow disappears. The hot, Roman sun beats down on the corpse of a Saint. The upside-down corpse has just flipped the authority of Rome on its own head. Heaven rejoices. Christians are praying in Rome for Peter. The Roman guards are proud of their work in accomplishing the task of ending the Christian leader’s movement. And last, and certainly least, the devil slithers away in frustration saying to himself “Virgin woman, carpenter, and now a fisherman!” The soil of Rome has never soaked in someone’s blood so quickly – as if it has experienced a masculine drought for centuries. The soil has yearned for a Gladiator of God. ======================== Fr. Ben Daghir is a priest for the Diocese of Erie. During the investigation, officials were led to a house on Chatham Lane Drive in Grand Blanc Township, where they received jurisdiction to seize child porn from the location, Swanson said. The search warrant they used to seize the material was also used to arrest 36-year-old Preston Creed Boehm. GHOST then executed another search warrant on a house in Burton on Dec. 20, 2022. That search led to the arrest of three Burton residents in connection with Boehm’s operation. Crystal Benton, 42, Nicholas Dunn, 41, and Joshua Hippensteel, 45, were arrested. “What they did as four adults, who were charged with taking care of children, they exploited the children,” he said. The suspects exploited the children, groomed, and drugged them to monetize their sexual acts, Swanson said, adding the suspects groomed the children with THC-laced gummy candy. The house in Burton was the epicenter for the human trafficking ring, Swanson said, adding that it was where all the child porn was manufactured and distributed to the Grand Blanc Township residence which was then distributed to the dark web by Boehm. Swanson said the investigation is still in progress, stating he believes more people are involved and there are more victims. » https://www.wnem.com/2023/05/05/genesee-co-residents-arrested-dark-web-human-trafficking-children/ » ▫️Feds: Canton man paid woman in Philippines to send him live child porn CANTON, Mich. - A Canton man is facing charges after authorities allege he paid a sex trafficker in the Philippines $30-40 for live videos of young girls being sexually abused. 13. Genevieve, (Debbie), Yotter passed to a new life May 1, 2023 at age 96. Born to Sydney and Charity Lockwood on January 11, 1927, mother had a long and interesting life. Mother stated many times since dad passed that she was ready to go. She died peacefully while in a coma from a stroke. Priscilla sang mom on her way with her favorite hymns. Priscilla does not sing well, but neither did Mother, so it seemed fitting. It was fortunate Deb had not used her operatic voice as she would have sung the entire floor to the other side. Mom married Dad not long after he returned from the Pacific theater during WW2. They quickly fulfilled the American family ideal of one daughter and son, but only 11 months after Chris, Jr. was born, Mother had several nightmares that she was pregnant with triplets. She, at age 24, told Dad of her dreams. The dreams were prophetic and 7 months later, very premature, identical triplet girls were born. At age 25, Mother was suddenly overwhelmed with 5 children under the age of five, 4 of whom were in diapers. Mom's mother, Charity, did not live close-by, but hired her sister-in-law, Carmelo, to help Mother. This may have saved Mother's life. In the last several years of mom's life, she often said she was so grateful to have had help from several family members. Dad changed jobs after the triplets' birth so as not to travel so much. The new job moved the family first to Baltimore and then Winter Park, Florida. Though born in Pennsylvania, Mom spent the happiest part of her life in Florida, which she considered her heart state. Mom and Dad lived in Central Florida for 35 years until he retired from Lockheed-Martin and she from her career as a site monitor at a senior citizen meals program. She loved her job and was almost always on time for it, a Herculean feat for her. Her experience working with seniors was a real aid to her when she became one herself, as she was an "expert" on every quirk of hers that she attributed to advancing age. Unfortunately, by the time she was past senior and into elderly stage, she was also past taking any advice she had given her seniors. Mother was fortunate to have had a career that she really loved. When Mom and Dad moved back to Pennsylvania, Mom had bits of Florida sand under her finger nails, but she figured it was Dad's turn to choose a geographical location. She and dad stayed active in the Episcopal and Lutheran churches in Dubois, Pennsylvania. They had numerous friends and relatives with whom they maintained an active social life. Mother returned to Florida following Dad's death. Though grieving Dad, it was a joy for her to get back to Florida. Before working for the school board as a site manager, Mother spent the majority of her time being overwhelmed with having five children under the age of five. As the children became older, she became heavily involved in politics and was a very active member of the Episcopal church. Mother worked on trying to acquire a more robust sense of humor and demonstrated her bit of success once when her liberal-democrat daughter asked her what she wanted for her birthday. Mother replied, "For you to register Republican." Her daughter looked at her in disbelief as mother started laughing and said, "See, I am getting a sense of humor. " Mother enjoyed her 96 years of life; some might conjecture that her longevity was due in part to the excess exercise she had when young, running after us. As the daughter of a coal miner, mother was always astounded that she had traveled as widely as she had and had participated in so many interesting activities and events. Mother often brought up how far she had come from her beginnings. Not in an egotistical way, but as a expression of gratitude and wonder. Mother is preceded in death by just about everyone. But to name a few, her husband, Chris Yotter Senior, her son, Chris Yotter, Jr., a sister, Patricia Lockwood, both brother-in-laws, her parents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. As said before, pretty much everyone. She is survived by her sister, Jo Morelli, four daughters, Deborah Oriel, (John), Patricia Yotter, Pauline Carroll, and Priscilla Yotter. Grandchildren, Tammy, Matthew, Tracy, Diane, Donald and Michelle. And great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, regular and great. Mother was often overwhelmed as a parent of 5 very strong-willed children and a husband who suffered from PTSD (though that problem was not talked about then), for many years at the start of their 66-year marriage, but she continued to have faith in God and belief in a life in the hereafter. She persevered! Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 12 PM - 1 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM from the funeral home with her daughter Priscilla Yotter officiating. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 109 North Brady Street, Suite 2, DuBois, PA 15801. Online condolences can be sent to http://www.baronickfuneralhome.com/condolence

  16. RECHARGE WHILE YOU SLEEP ! GET POSITIVE ENERGY WHILE YOU REST ! RELEASE NEGATIVE ENERGY WITHOUT EFFORT ! White noise is the most common way to block unnecessary disturbing sounds when trying to induce a good night sleep, or when you are trying to relax your mind with a quick nap, or trying to soothe a crying or colicky baby. Almost all white sounds are designed to just block the noise. They do not necessarily energize and recharge mind. This particular white noise has the powerful sound of OM chanting, which is the most powerful sound of the universe according to ancient Vedic cultures. It is a powerful way to release all stored negative energy in your mind while your mind is in the resting phase. In our experience, the sound is way superior to other sounds because of the quickest sleep induction time. Also the video has dark background which will not disturb the person or child trying to relax and sleep. Sleep is an important part of your daily routine—you spend about one-third of your time doing it. Quality sleep – and getting enough of it at the right times -- is as essential to survival as food and water. Without sleep you can’t form or maintain the pathways in your brain that let you learn and create new memories, and it’s harder to concentrate and respond quickly. Sleep is important to a number of brain functions, including how nerve cells (neurons) communicate with each other. In fact, your brain and body stay remarkably active while you sleep. Recent findings suggest that sleep plays a housekeeping role that removes toxins in your brain that build up while you are awake. Everyone needs sleep, but its biological purpose remains a mystery. Sleep affects almost every type of tissue and system in the body – from the brain, heart, and lungs to metabolism, immune function, mood, and disease resistance. Research shows that a chronic lack of sleep, or getting poor quality sleep, increases the risk of disorders including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, depression, and obesity. FOR ADULTS: listen at low to medium volumes. FOR INFANT AND KIDS : play at medium volume !! Tips for Getting a Good Night's Sleep !! *Set a schedule – go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. *Exercise 20 to 30 minutes a day but no later than a few hours before going to bed. *Avoid caffeine and nicotine late in the day and alcoholic drinks before bed. *Relax before bed – try a warm bath, reading, or another relaxing routine. *Create a room for sleep – avoid bright lights and loud sounds, keep the room at a comfortable temperature, and don’t watch TV or have a computer in your bedroom. *Don’t lie in bed awake. If you can’t get to sleep, do something else, like reading or listening to music, until you feel tired.
