Death toll rises to 115 in Moscow terror attack

Florene A. Kerr, age 93 of DuBois, PA died Friday, March 22, 2024 at Nelson’s Golden Years. Born on January 21, 1931 in Reynoldsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Stockdale, Sr. and Zeta (Cochran) Stockdale. On June 20, 1953 she married Thomas C. Kerr. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1992. Florene retired from Ideal Products in Sykesville, PA after over 20 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in DuBois, PA. Florene is survived by two sisters (Ruth Dobis of DuBois, PA and Connie (John E.) Hopkins of Pinehurst, NC), and three brothers (Matthew (Patricia) Stockdale of Reynoldsville, PA, Joseph (Iva) Stockdale of Sykesville, PA and Francis Stockdale of Punxsutawney, PA), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers (John, Robert Jr. and Wilbur Stockdale). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 2 -5 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11 AM from the funeral home with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church 197 Eastern Avenue, and/or Nelson’s Golden Years, 137 Oklahoma Cemetary Road, both in DuBois, PA 15801. James A. Bonante, Sr., age 90 of Punxsutawney, PA died Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his home. Born on July 14, 1933 in Sykesville, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Pompea Mary (Rubino) Bonante. On February 14, 1962 he married his wife of 62 years, Marian J. (Martin) Bonante. She survives. Along with his wife, James is survived by his children (James A. “Jim” Bonante II and Nancy A. Bonante-Fye and her husband Harold, both of Punxsutawney, PA), eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one sister (Lucy McGee of Erie, PA). He was preceded in death by three brothers (John, Frank and Arman Bonante) and one sister (Nancy Bonante). There will be no public visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801. Marc Leo “Hano” Hanlon, age 63 of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Christ the King Manor after fighting a valiant 20+ year battle with brain cancer. Born on December 19, 1960, in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of the late Patrick Hanlon and Marie (Bertocchi) Hanlon. His mother survives and lives in DuBois. Marc was a 1979 graduate of Central Christian High School and proudly belonged to Goodwill Hose Company #5. He spent two years in the Army Reserves in Fort Knox, KY and professionally became a certified Plumber/Pipe Fitter. With that union position, Marc traveled extensively working on hospitals, prisons, schools and even nuclear power plants. He was incredibly brilliant and quick witted. Always maintaining his independence and sense of humor, Marc enjoyed singing, drumming and had an appreciation for music. He could often be heard singing to his tunes at the Manor. Along with his mother, Marc is survived by his daughter(Kendahl Rose Belman and her husband Aaron), his ex-wife (Susan (Smith) Kohn and husband Mike), two sisters (Kim Hanlon and Tricia Mower and her husband Cliff, and three brothers (Tim Hanlon and his wife Elona, Jeff Hanlon and his wife Jenn and Chris Hanlon and his wife Sarah Rienzi). There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel at Christ the King Manor with Fr. Matias Quimno as celebrant.
