  1. Marjorie M. Murdock, age 85, of Hospital Avenue, DuBois, PA died on Monday, November 06, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.

    Born on December 31, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late S. Paul and Adelaide (Worrall) Spears. She was raised in Reynoldsville, PA.

    On May 12, 1951 she married Joseph J. Murdock.  He preceded her in death on August 3, 1999.

    She along with her husband were the owners/operators of the Silver Front Restaurant in Sykesville for over 30 years. After her retirement from the Silver Front, she worked at the Penn State DuBois Bookstore for 7 years.

    Marjorie was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was always very active in many community services and projects in the Sykesville area. She enjoyed ceramics, bingo, traveling and most importantly, being with her family. 

    She is survived by two daughters (Pamela Murdock and Karen Perry both of DuBois, PA); three grandchildren (Tony Perry of Moshannon, PA, John Perry and his wife Jodie of Harmony, PA and James Perry and his wife Angela of Ponte Vedra, FL); and 6 great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by two brothers (Paul and James Spears) three sisters (Adelaide Spears; Vivian Casey; and Mary Reay Shearer) and a grandson (Joshua Martino).

    Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 10-11 AM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

    Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.

  2. Florence C. Stoltz Jack, age 84, of DuBois, PA formerly of Emporium, PA died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.

    Born June 11, 1933 in St. Boniface, PA she is the daughter of the late Wilfred and Anna (Thomas) Anna.

    On April 18, 1953 she married Ronald Stoltz. He preceded her in death in 1992. On June 27, 1998 she married Robert Jack. He preceded her in death in 2011.

    Flo was happiest serving her family. She loved to cook meals and pray for those she loved. Out of love for God she gave to those she knew had needs with no expectation of recognition for herself. Flo led a deeply spiritual life, her Bible was well worn and highlighted with her favorite verses. Flo lived a life of beautiful simplicity. In her last years she was always sure to express appreciation to anyone who cared for her. We will miss her beautiful smile and the life she lived.

    She is survived by seven children (Debra Miller and her husband Barry, Eric Stoltz and his wife Cindy, Mark Stoltz and his wife Sharon, Sally Wigfield and her husband Greg, Harry Stoltz and his wife Mary Beth “Biz”, Todd Stoltz and his wife Beth and Stephen Stoltz and his wife Billie Jo); three brothers (Edgar, Richard and Dennis Anna); three sisters (Kathleen Waksmunski, Connie Dubetsky and Linda Hoelman); 26 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by three brothers (Gerald, Robert “Bones”, and Dan Anna) and two sisters (Penny Bender and Mary Grace Strittmatter).

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2-5 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in DuBois, PA.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:30 AM from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Siebert as celebrant.

    Burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Emporium, PA.

    Although flowers are appreciated, memorials may be placed with Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801 and/or Penn Highlands Hospice, 100 Hospital Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801 and/or Guy & Mary Felt Manor Assisted Living, 110 East 4th Street, Emporium, PA 15834.

  3. D. Elaine “Tyke” Amon, age 83, of Milton, PA formerly of DuBois, PA died on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Watsontown, PA.

    Born on December 5, 1933 in Indiana County, PA she was the daughter of the late Marlin and 
    Margaret (Sink) Lukehart.

    She married James Stewart. He preceded her in death. On February 15, 2003 she married Robert F. Amon. He survives.

    Elaine retired after having over 30 years of service as an administrative assistant for the Riverside division of the Penn Traffic Company. 

    She was a member of the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church in DuBois and attended the First Baptist Church of Milton. She taught for PA Literary Council in DuBois and enjoyed reading and needle work.

    She is survived by one step daughter (Barbara Hunter and husband David of Turbotville, PA) two step grandchildren (Chad and Daniel Hunter) and two step great grandchildren (Sidney and Hannah Hunter).

    She was preceded in death by a sister Louise Wray. 

    Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 9-11 AM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Dick Whitaker officiating.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

  4. Jacqueline Rokoski of DuBois, PA, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017.

    Born August 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John & Mary Mitravich Stankavich.

    She was married to Leonard Rokoski, who preceded her in death on October 15, 1967.

    She is survived by her daughter Ramona Ferguson & her husband Charles A. Jr.; granddaughters Sarah Louise and Eleanore; sisters Rita Mattivi & her husband Al and Jean Deitsch & her husband Richard, and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her brother, John Stankavich, Jr.

    There will be no public visitation.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.

    Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

    The family requests that memorial masses in Jackie’s memory be sent to St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 116 South State St., DuBois, PA 15801.

  5. Kathy J. Hallowell, Age 68, of Central Christian Road, DuBois, PA died Friday, October 20, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois. 

    Born on September 28, 1949 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Gloria (Alexander) Nasuti.  

    On July 8, 1967, she married David R. Hallowell. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.

    Kathy retired as the Assistant Manager at Matthews Hallmark at the DuBois Mall after many years of service.

    She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and she enjoyed her grandchildren and following their many activities. 

    Kathy was always ready for an adventure.  If there was an empty seat; het butt was in it.  She was the consummate party planner and holiday organizer.  She loved celebrating family and friends and always remembered special days in their lives.

    She is survived by 2 children (Brenda L. Kunselman & husband Scott, and Bob D. Hallowell & wife Heather, both of DuBois, PA) 2 brothers (Ed Nasuti & wife Della, and Bill Nasuti & wife Barb, both of DuBois, PA) a sister (Jacque Boyles & husband Ronald of Clearfield, PA) and 4 grandchildren (Haley & Aliza Hallowell, and Courtney & Isaac Kunselman)

    Visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Leon Blose officiating.

    Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

  6. Larry Greathouse, Age 61 of Hemlock Lane, Kersey, PA, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Altoona.

    Born on September 16, 1956 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Hoyt) Greathouse.

    On December 29, 2010, he married Beth (Oknefski ) Greathouse.  She survives.

    Larry retired from SGL Carbon in St. Mary's after 34 years of service.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5887, and the American Legion Post 208, both in Ridgway, PA.  He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

    He is survived by 2 children (Gretchen Greathouse of Hughesville, MD and Troy Greathouse of Accokeek, MD) 2 step children (Ur Frederick of Pittsburgh, PA and George Frederick of Ridgway, PA)
     A brother (Ronald Greathouse and his wife, Joyce of DuBois, PA), and 2 sisters (Linda Moore and her husband, Richard of Reynoldsville, PA and Janice Pregmon and her husband, Thomas of Treasure Lake).

    Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 9 to 11 a.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

    A private funeral service will follow.

    Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

  7. Ellen M. Vanatta, Age 76 of Grant St., Reynoldsville, Pa died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at The DuBois Nursing Home.

    Born on October 16, 1941 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bud & Jennie Synder.

    On June 11, 1982, she married Dean F. Vanatta.  He survives.

    Ellen was a care giver and a homemaker.  She attended both the Lighthouse Church & the Sandy Valley Community Church.

    She is survived by a step daughter (Anissa Marie Vanatta of St. Mary's, PA), a step sister (Carol Dunlap) a step brother (Harold Dunlap) and 3 step grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her step daughter (Cathy) and step brother (Joe)

    There will be no public visitation.

    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the Lighthouse Church in DuBois with Pastor's Dean & Penny Smith officiating.

    Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor's choice.

  8. Grace D. Sutterlin, age 94 of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA died Saturday, October 14, 2017 in DuBois, PA.

    Born on August 18, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Norma Dillinger.

    She was married to Walter F. Sutterlin.  He preceded her in death in 1985.

    Grace retired from the North Hills School District after many years of service.

    She was Lutheran by faith.

    She is survived by 2 children (Nancy J. Newton of Cleveland, OH and Scott R. Sutterlin & his fiancé Suncha of DuBois, PA) 2 grandchildren (Chris & Mark Newton) and a great grandchild (Gage Newton). In addition to her children, Grace was cared for local by Linda Thomas.

    She was preceded in death by 2 sisters

    There will be no public visitation.

    A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 1 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Amy Miller officiating.

    Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor's choice.
