  1. Pastor Pens Gossip Book Dr. Matt Mitchell has been the Pastor of Lanse Evangelical Free Church in Lanse, PA since 1998. He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Westminster Theological Seminary. He lives in Lanse with his wife, Heather, and four kids: Robin, Andrew, Peter, and Isaac. He writes a regular blog about the Bible and life called "Hot Orthodoxy" at matt-mitchell.blogspot.com and is the author of the new book Resisting Gossip: Winning the War of the Wagging Tongue (CLC Publications). The idea for the book took root five years ago while Mitchell was attending seminary school and was published September 3, 2013. Mitchell will be at the Kylertown Center for Active Living on Friday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. to talk about the perils and wickedness of gossiping. There are no reservations needed for the program. However, those interested in having lunch afterward at the Center are asked to call at least one day prior to the event to make a meal reservation. Any Clearfield County individual 60 years of age or older may contribute to the cost of the meal on a donation basis. The cost to those under age 60 is $3.50. The center is located at the Kylertown Center for Active Living at 70 Senior Drive, Kylertown, PA 16847. Information on this and other programs, meals, and activities is available by calling the Kylertown Center at 345-6338 or 1-800-225-8571 or visiting the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging website at www.ccaaa.net. Programs and services of the Agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc, Mature Resources Foundation, and local and consumer contributions.

    The DuBois Public Library Fall Basket Raffle will be held from November 12 until November 22. Anyone may participate by creating a book-themed gift basket. The basket should include a book and items related to the subject of the book. It is also helpful to include a list of those items. * Baskets may be dropped off at the DuBois Public Library on Friday, November 1 or Saturday, November 2. They will be on display from November 4 until November 9, and tickets will go on sale November 12 through November 22. The drawing will take place at 2:00 P.M. on November 22.   20. Keystone Family Child Care Providers will be hosting their first annual fall festival Sunday Oct. 20th at the Florian Banquet Center on Mill Road in Clearfield. The festival will be held from Noon to 4 pm and feature a fun day of activities for kids and families including a magic show at 2 pm. The cost is only $1.00 per person, which includes all activities, as well as hot dogs, chips and drinks. Door prizes and raffles will be held throughout the afternoon.
