  1. awww BigP..........2 weeks later and I miss him even more......I still feel on the floor beside my bed to feel him there...and he's not!! But he will always be with us on the mantle in his puppy paw tin.....

    Damn.......here I go crying again.......

It still hurts not seeing him here anymore....but it is getting easier each day..... :'(

  2. omg BigP.........I am so sorry for your loss........

I used to say I didn't know how it feels, but with Stogies death only 2 weeks ago, its still quite fresh on my mind.....

Stogie was 13, had heart and throid problems.......Lucia wasnt very old so I'm sure its harder to accept.....

I got Stogies ashes back last weekend so he is now with us on the mantle in a cute box....

    Again BigP.......I'm so sorry........... :'(

  3. Mine blooms a couple times a year.  I just love it.  It took forever to bloom though.  I think it had to get root bound before it bloomed.  It is in a smaller pot and is growing like crazy.  I feel like I need to re-pot it but don't want to take the chance.  I just keep winding the vines up and around and leave it alone.

We hadn't had any flowers for many years.........then I heard it had to be root bound and we had just transplanted it, so it took quite a while before it bloomed again........probably 4 yrs., and now I found 3 more flowers ready to bloom and had 3 bloom already!!! The flowers look like wax flowers, but when mine get white, right before they die, they smell soooooooo good.....

I do the same snellma.....I just keep wrapping the vine around it. I'll take a picture of my whole plant, if I can stand back far enough to see it!!!  ;)

  4. Hot Peppers

    1 peck hot peppers

1 8 oz. can tomato paste

1 lg. bottle ketchup  12-14 ozs.

    1 T salt

    3 cups sugar

    2 cups vinegar

    1 pint oil

Cut peppers into rings, the more seeds the hotter, I use a pie pan as a base....I fill the bottom of the pie pan with seeds for HOT peppers......a little less if your not a HOT pepper person!!

Boil 10 minutes, add peppers, cook another 5 minutes, but we do 10 minutes, hubby doesn't like them crunchy, then seal......makes approx. 6 quart....

  5. This is from a friend of mine......haven't made them yet, but hubby had a taste and likes them....

    Dilly Beans

    5 cups vinegar

    5 cups water

    1/2 cup salt

    1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper

Bring these 4 ingredients to a boil

    In jar:

    1 garlic clove

    1 dill head

Pack green beans in jars tightly (about a peck)

Pour brine over, can also put more dill on the top...

Process in hot water bath for 10 mins...

  6. We have picked 2 ripe tomatoes with no bottom rot, a 3rd is almost ripe enough, but they are small...

My cucumber plants look as if they have died, compared to other years I would get so many they would go to waste....I have had maybe 4 out of it....

Zucchini looks ok, better then my cukes!!

Peppers look pretty good too, not sure if there are any on them or not will have to check on that....

We also planted some cherry tomatoes and squash in planters to see what they would do!! The tomatoes are coming on but haven't checked the squash...

  7. We have had blight the last 2 years so this year we put them on the deck in flower pots with NEW miracle grow soil and they have been water well, yeppers sure enough the blight has gotten this way too I give up

awwwww.....sorry to hear that........hubby sprayed something on our garden that a friend told him about and so far it seems to have helped.......can even spray it on now that it has tomatoes......

we also had blight for 2 yrs.......hubby also has watered them real good and put the lawn clippings on it to hold the water in.........

we also have some in pots just in case.........but they are only the cherry tomatoes and some squash....

  8. Does it smell good?  I have an old variegated one that blooms several times a year but there is no fragrance.  Enjoy but don't cut off the stubby end where the flower bloomed.  It will bloom at that same spot again.

After the blooms turn whiter, they smell really really good! wish there was more then 1 bloom at a time...could fragrance my house with the smell!!  ;)

  9. dyna how to you start one of these plants from a cutting? and would you like to share some?

of course i'll share with ya silly..........lol

I have one started on my front porch.....part of it is dying, but i'm trying to revive whats left! I'm not good at remembering to water my house plants....leave that to your cousin!! lol

  10. Love the pic of the butterfly but I bet your humming birds are mad at you...LOL  My MIL's hummingbirds are drinking the stuff up like crazy this year.

naw........its wasnt empty!! they still have some in the bottom, and i filled it the same day as the picture!! lol

I had 2, but the one leaks....wish I could find one that didnt leak after the 1st year!!!  :(

  11. I zoomed in on it and tried to get a better pic.  At least I think this is the one Dyna is referring to.

That's it Tracy.......it's pink and looks fuzzy. The flower is dead now but I will try and get a picture of the stem..

Here is a picture of my butterfly bush that I planted last year.....finally getting some butterflys on them!!

So now I need to get an outside plant book and a butterfly book.......wouldn't hurt to get a bird book too!! lol

  13. The last one is spiderwort or Trandescantia.  It looks to be one of the hybrids as the heirloom ones are purple and floppy.

The red one looks like rose campion. I don't think that is attached to the leaves that are below it is it? It has a grayish, sort of fuzzy leaf.

the second one does have a gray fuzzy leaf.....

I didnt realize the spiderwort spread so much....but I like it, will just have to keep after it to keep it from spreading
