hmmmm, i just dont remember the elks theater......i do the avenue theater, and the one at the pershing.....what was the place up from the high rise that had the 2 lane bowling ally in it?

I believe you're thinking of the Rec Center on Long Ave. ....... But it was an 8 lane bowling alley

I remember the year of the big flood and the basement of the jr. high flooded.  Things certainly have changed.  Back in my day it was 7th grade on Long Ave, 8th and 9th grade on the Boulevard at the school pictured, and then 10-12 at the senior high on Orient Ave.

Scribner seventh ...... I remember it well from the early seventies  ....... the best memory was hanging out and sitting on " the wall" on Friday and Saturday nights .... great times

Could it be the cable wheel off of an old coal strip mining dragline ???

Thanks for posting these pics. I love to see pics of things that are no longer around.    Speaking of mansions, does anyone have any old pictures of the mansion that was out in Sandy Twp.  at the WigWam.  Never saw it but hear stories of it.
