  1. I picked a 1/2 bushel of peas yesterday

We have a lot of peas too. We just love them. Half the time they don't even make it to the house. We'll sit down and eat them right at the garden.

We also have lettuce coming out our ears....We planted WAY too much for our little family. We give it away by the bag full (plastic shopping bag!)

We planted radishes this year for the 1st time. They are doing really good too.

peppers cucs, and zucs.....not so much!

  2. I was wondering, if I planted a jalepeno plant or 2, do you think I could get them to grow indoors? I have skylights and other plants seem to do well in that room. What do ya think? Fresh peppers off the plant all year would be pretty cool!!

  3. When I went outside this morning, all the tops of my sunflowers were gone. All of my stella d'oro flowers were chomped off and spit out!

I'm assuming deer, and they didn't like the taste of the lilys? I spray with Deer Off, what the heck!

I'm ashamed to say that a couple of expletives were said.

Does anyone else have this problem? Could it be another critter besides deer?

And does anyone know if the sunflowers will come back. Only the tops were eaten, the rest of the plants are still there.

Everything was looking so beautiful, I could cry!  :'(

You need to ask yourself one question....."What would Jack do?!"

He would keep watch all night until whatever it was comes back.....and then

HE WOULD BULLRUSH THAT SONOFA***, RIP OFF IT'S HEAD AND SH*T DOWN IT'S NECK!   Don't let Lambert see ya cry!    ;)

Sorry to hear about your flowers though.......

  4. I decided to go with the THORNLESS blackberry bush from Hanzely's Nursery. I got 3 of them, 12-18" tall. I'm hoping to put them in the ground tomarrow! The nice people at the nursery said just put them in the ground and watch them grow.

Now the part that makes me nervous....when to prune??

    Mature Height: 3-6 ft.

    Mature Width:  3-5 ft.

    Sunlight: Full or Partial

    Soil Conditions:  Adaptable

    Drought Tolerance:  Good

Hardy to -10 degrees. Should I cover them for the winter. Windchill can get colder than -10.

  5. Hot Chili Cheese Dip

This is so easy and everyone loves it!  You can use low or no fat Cream Cheese and Chili, and it's still fantastic!

In a large pie pan, spread 16 ounces of Cream Cheese.

Pour on a can of your favorite prepared Chili.

Cover with 3-4 C of your favorite shredded Cheese.

Heat in the Microwave for 4 - 10 minutes till the edges are bubbling and the center is hot and melty clear through to the bottom.

    Spoon onto crackers.

add jalanpenos        :o :X        feel the burn!!
