    I am thinking ahead about garden season. We are planning on a tiered garden this year, maybe four levels. My question to you is...What have you found that helps to keep all the critters away (large and small) I have used spinners and aluminum plates that bang and blow in the wind (my back yard looks like a carnival) and that seemed to help the year before last, but last year we put a fence up and I think the animals thought it was for them to graze in.

    Any great new ideas or suggestions?

  3. LEEK DIP

     

    go dig fresh Leeks.  

     

    In a food processor: This makes a lot

    Leeks

    Onions

    Garlic

    All to taste

    Add 1 envelope of Dry lipton Onion soup (any flavor)

    1 8oz pkg cream cheese

    Mix this all up

    Pour into big bowl

    Add 3 -1lb cont sour creams

    1 cup Hellman's mayo Light (or whatever dressing you like)

    Mix that all together.  And divide into small containers

    It seems to taste better the longer it sits.

  4. I make this and use washing soda. It is important for the best results to use hot water when using Borax. I like the idea of mixing with a box of cheapo dish washing soap. Thanks for the tip....I will try that the next time.

    Although it has numerous industrial uses, in the home borax is used as a natural laundry booster, multipurpose cleaner, fungicide, preservative, insecticide, herbicide, disinfectant, dessicant, and ingredient in making 'slime'. Borax crystals are odorless, whitish (can have various color impurities), and alkaline. Borax is not flammable and is not reactive. It can be mixed with most other cleaning agents, including chlorine bleach.

  5. A solar dryer works great and you would be surprised how quick they dry on a hot sunny day.

    I bag it and store it in the freezer, if I have the space to keep it bug free (it doesn't take up much space.)

    CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

    1 Coffee Mug

    4 tablespoons flour

    4 tablespoons sugar

    2 tablespoons baking cocoa

    1 egg

    3 tablespoons milk

    3 tablespoons oil

    3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

    Nuts (optional)

    Small splash of vanilla

     

    Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

    Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

    Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.

    Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high.

     

    The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don 't be alarmed!

    Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

    EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)

     

    This the most dangerous cake recipe in the world

    because we now are all only 5 minutes away

    from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Pour the Frangelico liqueur over the soft sweet ladyfingers. (You may substitute the same volume of Orange Juice for a non-alcoholic preparation.<br style="display:none" gauntlet_tokenizer_reserved=""/>)<br /><br />In a mixing bowl, blend together the mascarpone with the pumpkin puree.   8. These pizzettas are so amazingly simple, yet so very good! They are very low cal, and a great side dish, or even snack! The portobello mushrooms give a very rustic, earthy flavor.

     

    Weight Watchers Portobello Pizzettas recipe 1 pt.

    Makes 24 servings

     

    Ingredients

    5 ounces frozen chopped spinach

    1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

    1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed

    1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper

    12 portobello mushrooms (3 to 4 in diameter)

    2 medium tomatoes, large dice

    2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

    salt

     

    Preparation

    1. Thaw spinach and press out liquid, finely chop.

    2. Combine spinach, cheese basil, and pepper in a mixing bowl.

    3. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

    4. Clean mushrooms, remove stems.

    5. Place mushroom caps top side down on a lightly greased cookie sheet, brush with butter or margarine.

    6. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of spinach mixture into each cap.

    7. Sprinkle with tomato and salt.

    8. Bake for 12 minutes or till heated through OR place on the unheated rack of a broiler pan.

    9. Broil 4 inches from the heat for 3 to 4 minutes.

    10. Cut into quarters and serve.
