  1. Doritos recently changed their packaging. Now a smaller ounces per bag. I really hate that these companies think consumers are morons. Just keep it the same & increase the price, let me decide if I want to still buy your product. Don't try to fool me.

  2. For soap scum remover, great on shower walls & tub

1 cup white vinegar, heated in microwave

about 3 squirts blue dawn dish soap

    Put into a spray bottle

Spray onto tub/ shower let sit 15-30 minutes

    Wipe down walls & rinse.

(This is a little pungent, so keep the kids & pets back) Add a drop or two of peppermint extract from the kitchen it helps a little.

Love this! I won't be buying anymore tilex etc.

Question, I thought that I read somewhere that the original Dawn was great to use on tub/shower walls?
One of our bathrooms has the old bath tub and shower surround. I hate it and especially scrubbing it. I've tried to talk hubby into re-doing the whole thing and tiling it. It would cost a lot because when the house was built, they built the surround in, so everything would have to be gutted. So for now, it'll have to wait for a year or two.

Does anyone know about the Dawn cleaning method? I'm wondering if you just put a coat of it on and let it sit for a while??

  3. Not sure if this "recipe" is listed here [not reading them all.] It's a new one I saw the other day, and makes a very large amount of it.

    4lb 12oz -- Borax

    3lb 7oz -- Arm & Hammer Washing Soda

    3lb -- OxyCleanurex Crystals

14.1 oz -- Fels Naptha bar soap

    4lb -- Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

1 or 2* 55oz bottles -- Dry fabric softener [Purex Crystals used by recipe poster]

*Depends on how much sent and softening you prefer/need.

They recommend letting the grated soap dry for 2 or 3 days on foil lined baking sheets. Once dried they put it in a blender to make into a powder.

I recently made this one and added a bottle of the Downy scent booster. I think I can live with this recipe. The oxy clean really helps with the boy smell.

  4. Really don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but every description of the afterlife I've heard sounds boring.  Are there challenges on the other side?  If not, what's to keep you from going bonkers?

As to this guy's visions, could they not have come from a dream that he had just before awakening -- you know, after he had healed enough to be able to come out of the coma?

Read 90 minutes in Heaven. I have an aunt who was a very religioius good hearted soul, almost a saint compared to most. She described the same things before her passing, a small glimpse of what was to come. She left behind 4 children her youngest was 9 years old unable to walk and in a wheelchair with cerebral palsy. Heaven must have been pretty amazing to leave her family just a few days before Christmas.

  5. Chicken Gnocchi Soup        (Like Olive Garden)

    1 tablespoons extra virgin oil

    4 tablespoons butter

    4 tablespoons flour

    1 quart half and half

    1/2 cup celery, finely diced

    1 cup onion, finely diced

    2 minced garlic cloves

2 14 ounce cans of chicken broth if you enjoy thick soup, use one can

    1 cup carrots, finely shredded

1 cup chicken breasts, cooked and diced (you can use a rotisserie chicken) yes, buy the rotisserie chicken

1 package gnocchi, cooked  (you can find these in gourmet/pasta section of the grocery store - you may want to cut the gnocchi in half if it is large, or purchase the mini size if available) (or make yours from scratch, easy & better tasting, see recipe below)

1 cup of fresh spinach coarsely chopped

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon thyme

    1/2 teaspoon parsley

    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

    Instructions

Saute the onion, celery, and garlic in the butter and olive oil over medium heat until the onion becomes translucent. Add the flour and make a roux. Let the butter and flour mixture cook for about a minute before adding 1 quart of half and half.

Cook gnocchi according to package directions.

Into the roux, add in the carrots and chicken. Once the mixture becomes thick, add the chicken broth. Once the mixture thickens again, add the cooked gnocchi, spinach, and seasoning; simmer until soup is heated through.  Before serving season to taste by adding additional salt.

    Homemade Ricotta Gnocchi

    8 oz. Ricotta Cheese

    2 eggs

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan Cheeese

    1 tsp salt

    1 tsp pepper

    1 tsp garlic powder

1 cup all-purpose flour, or as needed

Stir together the ricotta, eggs, Parmesan Cheese, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a large bowl until evenly combined. Mix in 1 cup of flour, add additional flour if needed to form a soft dough.

Divide dough into 3 or 4 pieces and roll into 1/2 thick ropes (like a snake). Cut into 1 inch pieces and roll off the back of a fork to indent lines on gnocchi. Place on floured baking sheet in frig until ready to use.

To cook, bring large pot of water to boil, add the gnocchi cook 1-2 minutes until it floats to the top.

  6. 7 up Biscuits          (These are amazing, with a little garlic powder, parsley & cheddar cheese they remind me of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits)

    2 cups Bisquick

    1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup 7up or other clear fizzy soda

    1/4 cup melted butter

To make like cheddar bay biscuits add to dough:

    1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

    1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp dried parsley (add to remaining half of butter, to brush on tops)

In large bowl, mix together the Bisquick and sour cream, then add the 7 up. Dough will be very wet. Melt half of the butter in a cast iron skillet and drop dough by rounded spoonfuls into butter. Bake in cast iron skillet if possible, if not use glass baking dish.

Bake at 450 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Brush tops with remaining half of butter

Make these! You won't be disappointed.

  7. 1 cup Cascade Powder

    Hottest Tap Water

    5 gallon bucket

Mix the Cascade powder in 5 gallon bucket of hottest tap water, Stir to dissolve, add clothes. Soak overnight then laundry as usual.

For yellow armpit stained T-shirts & dingy whites.

    Will make them white again!

I tried this & it works!

  8. White vinegar also works great on stains.

Just got a new front load washer, I checked my stockpile of laundry soap & it all says it is safe for HE machines. So don't get fooled into thinking you have to buy one brand.

  9. Morningside is what we would like all our cemeteries to look like.  They were well organized from the time it began in 1925 as a result of the way Rumbarger was run.  The credit goes to Frank, who has supervised Morningside for about 40 years, and his great crew.  However, Rumbarger will never look like Morningside.  The rows aren't even and for some reason they put walls all over the cemetery.  It was probably very attractive in it's early days but much of the work is hand mowing and trimming which takes a lot of time.

Maybe with some donations, they could replace some areas with other materials that would require less maintenance.

  10. Just a thought, Dubois High School has a requirement for volunteer work before you can graduate..How about some young, strong kids to help with the clean up..Maybe have an ongoing thing each year..They learn how to give back to their community & the cemetary could get lots of volunteers..

**Could also add cayenne pepper or hot sauce for spice.

  12. How is it on really dirty, football, baseball, playing in the dirt clothes.  I also have a terrible problem with stains in the armpit areas (white tee shirts)  I have a heck of a time getting these out.  Even with bleaching.

Peroxide sprayed onto the stain will help. I now use it everytime I was white Tee shirts. Just the bleach didn't work for us either.

  13. We put moth balls around the outside of the garden in the grass. Obviously you wouldn't want to do this if you have small children but we have tons of rabbits and they don't bother the garden and the deer avoid it like the plague. I used to plant a small patch of lettuce away from the garden just for the rabbits.  They left the garden alone and I had extra lettuce. They don't like the smell of marigold either. The first year Ihad my husband plant marigolds we ended up with a hedgerow that  nothing could get through. I picked enough seeds from it to 1/2 fill a 5 gallon bucket. Everyone the next year had marigolds.

Good point, I have seen amish gardens & they use marigolds.

    What are steak bites?

  16.

Yes. I do that a lot. I'm a pasta nut and frozen/un thawed pasta just doesn't work well.

You can freeze the sauce for later. Just start backing down the amount of pasta that you have cooked or eat it the next day for lunch.
