  1. This is not meant to be taken offensively in any way, but is he overweight? I see a lot of dogs at work with arthritis that end up worse off when their weight is an issue and I've seen it cause a wide variety of limb deformities and swelling. You should be able to feel a dogs ribs by lightly touching the sides, they shouldn't be entirely visible by looking at a pet, but you shouldn't have to push through a layer of fat to feel them either, there also should be a noticeable waistline from above and a slight tuck up when looking at the side. (I know this may be more difficult on a full coated dog.) Most vets don't bring up the weight issues unless they are asked because we in the pet industry have been verbally abused by customers more times tan not who think it's acceptable for a pet to be overweight even though we are seeing signs of concern.

  2. My grandma lived down below beulah land and had old graves in the end of their woods. I personally had a strange encounter when I was maybe 7 or 8. I walked my dog there on a daily basis but could never bring myself to go alone...

  3. Ham and Veggie Soup

    Medium Bone-in Ham End

    5 Large Potatoes Cubed

    6 Large Carrots Sliced

    2 Cups Chopped Celery

    1 Large Onion Sliced

I throw everything in my crock and add enough water to cover the veggies then let it cook for about 5 hours on low until the ham starts falling apart. I prefer a bone in ham to help flavor everything. I also sprinkle some shredded cheddar in my bowl to eat it.

  4. Kraut Stuffed Peppers

    For Hungarian or Banana Peppers

Fill canning jars with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon dill, and one clove of garlic.

    Drain sauerkraut

Cut stems from peppers and remove seeds

Stuff peppers with kraut (The end of a wooden or plastic spoon seems to work best!)

Put peppers in canning jar (5-7 depending on the size of the peppers)

Boil 8 cups white vinegar, 4 cups water, 4 cups sugar for brine (App. 10 quart jars worth)

    Poor boiling mixture into jars

Put your Seals and Rings on and put the jars in boiling water for about 10 minutes then let them seal.

    Taco Supreme Pizza

Layer taco sauce, taco seasoned meat, crushed taco shells, nacho cheese and taco blend shredded cheese and bake at 425 degrees until cheese until cheese melts. When you take it out of the oven, add lettuce, onions, tomato, and salsa right before you eat it.

    Chili Cheese Fry Pizza

Layer french fries (pre-cooked), chili, nacho cheese, and shredded cheddar cheese on crust. Bake at 425 degrees until cheese is melted.

  6. The original blue DAWN makes a great, easy, inexpensive fly spray for horses too!! I make and use it all summer for WAYYYYY less then a fraction of what the other store bought stuff costs.

    Equal parts:

Dawn ( the original blue stuff only, not the concentrated, or extra stuff..)

    Apple Cider Vinegar

    Water

Put it all in a large spray bottle and there ya go! It doesn't smell so sweet, but if you just want to repel those nasty flys while your horses are out in the pasture, you can make this all summer for very little cash.

THANK YOU! Good fly spray isn't cheap!

As for bathing dogs, I use it as a prewash. It gets rid of the grit and grime and the smell of the shampoo lasts longer. For the clients that come in every 4 weeks or less, I do tend to use it every other time so as not to irritate their skin.

  8. Trying this one tonight...

    Baked Italian Whiting Fillets

    1 1/2-2 lbs Whiting Fillets

1 quart Stewed Tomatoes in Juice

    Italian Bread Crumbs

    1-2 eggs

    Olive Oil

    Garlic Powder

    Worcestershire Sauce

Marinate fish fillets in Worcestershire sauce garlic powder. You can add more spices as you wish to cover up the stronger fish taste. Let it sit about 1/2 hour. Use the olive oil to coat the roaster. Coat the fillets in egg and Italian bread crumbs. Lay in a single layer in the roaster and fill space with stewed tomatoes and sauce. Cook at 425 degrees until fish is cooked to your liking. (Time depends on thickness of fillets.)

  9. My Thick and Chunky Chili Recipe

    Great with Venison!

I have no real recipe I follow, but intend on making a thick, chunky chili.

2-3 pounds of ground beef or venison

    8-10 tomatoes

    5-6 large green peppers

    2-3 medium onions

    1-2 hungarian peppers (chopped finer)

    2-3 jalape

  10. I tried my pork chop recipe on chicken and loved it so I thought I'd share

Take boneless chicken and dip in olive oil then "bread" with a mixture of Cajun spices, meat tenderizer, pepper, and chili powder. Fry in butter until white on the outsides. Add vegetable broth into the frying pan and let simmer until cooked thoroughly.

Tastes just as good with the pork chops.
