  1. John R. Bullock, age 83 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, February 3, 2022 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Born on November 7, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Forrest and Franny (Laird) Bullock. On October 22, 1982 he married his wife of 39 years, Ellen L. (Walch) Bullock. She survives. John retired after 30 years of teaching in Illinois. He also coached baseball and basketball. He was an ordained Methodist Minister for 25 years until his retirement, most recently serving at Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois, PA. He is also survived by his children (Robin Price & her husband Michael, Rob Bullock & his wife Kim, Jackie Adams & her husband Steve, Sheryll Elzer & her husband Chris and Dawn Toberman), 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter (Roberta Bullock). There will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 1 p.m. from Treasure Lake Church with Pastor Bob Capelle and Pastor Joni Williams co officiating.   2. Sherri Rusonis Lingenfelter, age 65 of Falls Creek, PA died Saturday, January 29, 2022 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on November 22, 1956 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Guy A. and Beulah J. (Kinzey) Ovenshire. In October of 2009 she married George Lingenfelter. He survives. Sherri retired from Comfort Suites in DuBois as the breakfast manager. She loved to cook and crochet. She loved wildlife and sprint car racing. Sherri is survived by 1 daughter (Angela Gathers Stasiowski and her husband Shawn of Brockway, PA), 2 grandchildren (Shayla Moore and Austin Moore both of Denton, NC), 1 brother (Perry Ovenshire and his wife Cathy of Falls Creek, PA and 1 sister (Terry Dickey and her husband Ron of Reynoldsville, PA).   3. Mark Randall “Zeke” DuBois, age 60 of Little River, SC, formerly of DuBois, PA died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at McCleod Health Seacoast Hospital in Little River, South Carolina. Born on October 23, 1961 in Ulm, Germany, he was the son of the late Robert H. & Marilou G. (Green) DuBois. He was employed by Laudisi Enterprises in South Carolina as a supervisor. Randy was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School Class of 1980 where he played basketball and football. He attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Edinboro University. Randy loved life, his family and friends, the beach, and above all, he loved all things Washington Redskins. He is survived by 2 children (Alex and Grace DuBois of DuBois, PA), 2 brothers (Dr. John DuBois and his wife Linda and Jeffrey DuBois and his wife Paula both of DuBois, PA) 2 sisters (Kimberly DuBois and her husband Matthew Wood of Seattle, WA and Laura Read and her husband Dan also of DuBois, PA). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 12 PM – 3 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   4. William H. Sidelinger, age 59 of Reynoldsville, PA died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on February 9, 1962 in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of the late Harold and Carol (Mack) Sidelinger. Bill had worked as a meat cutter at Ted’s Meat Market for many years. He enjoyed tinkering with mechanics, fixing many things for family and friends and he loved to spend time daily with his grandson Will. Bill is survived by his children (Shawn Sidelinger & his wife Crystal of Sykesville, PA and Caylie Taylor & her husband Justin of Philipsburg, PA), 1 grandson (Will Sidelinger), 3 brothers (Harold, Michael & Daniel Sidelinger) and 2 sisters (Shirley Riehl and Linda Reese). He was preceded in death by 1 sister (Patricia Burham). Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 1 PM – 4 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   5. Thomas L. Wineberg, age 74 of DuBois, PA died Monday, January 24, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital with his family by his side. Born on September 22, 1947 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey and Leanore (Curry) Wineberg. Tom was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital as a therapist in the Adolescence Behavioral Unit after many years of service. Tom was a member James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was known as “Gray Squirrel.” He enjoyed fishing, attending his grandson’s soccer games, and loved to walk his dog Halo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DuBois where he was active in church affairs. Tom spent his life in service to others. He is survived by his two sons (Jeremy and Aaron Winberg both of DuBois, PA), three grandchildren (Braeden, Ethan & Lexus Wineberg), and one brother (Terry Wineberg & his wife Mindy of White Deer, PA). There will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the First United Methodist Church in DuBois with Pastor John Emigh officiating.   6. David William Smiley passed away on January 5, 2022, at the age of 75, in Colorado Springs, CO. His struggles with serious medical issues recently showed his courage to face challenges with a smile and stay strong until the end, despite his ailments. David was born (December 21, 1946) and raised in DuBois, PA. At age (18) David decided to join the Marine Corp and bravely served in the Vietnam War for the country he was proud of. David met his wife Helene (Horvath) Smiley while attending a Halloween party in 1975. They fondly recall it as "a little bit of trick & a little bit of treat" that evolved into them taking vows on January 3, 1976, and living a full life together for 46 years. David enjoyed football and was a dedicated lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was also his grandson (Jaun A's) biggest baseball fan; he always supported all 11 of his grandchildrens' passions and endeavors. David was an Operating Engineer Local 150 member (1977-2005). He was a heavy-equipment crane operator and worked at Fermilab and Argonne National Laboratory for many of those years. David built and maintained a Pinewood Derby track in the 1980s that many Boy Scout troops enjoyed over many years and is still in use today. He took immense pride in his projects; many noticed and appreciated his efforts. Everyone wanted a go at Mr. Smiley's track as it was one of the finest around. David's potato candy was renowned amongst family and close friends around the holidays for many, many years. As his love and dedication to his family shine through, we will carry our memories in our hearts to share for years to come. He will be greatly missed and always in our thoughts. His "kid-at-heart" spirit will live on forever. We love you, Husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. David is preceded in death by his father, Dorsey Ralph Smiley, Mother Alice Marie (Hoover) Smiley, and Sister Kathleen Gail (Smiley) Koppenhaver. David is survived by his wife Helene Smiley, his Brothers Dennis (Rebecca) Smiley and Allan Smiley; his Children Derek (Beth) Smiley, Kristel (Jaun) Jansen Van Vuren, Joseph Exline, and Darlene (Mark) Kirk; Grandchildren Liam and Emma Smiley; Jordan, Jaun and Alexander Jansen Van Vuren; Jeffrey, Mackenzie, and Meagan Exline; Jacob and Joslyn Kirk; and Great Grandchild Auden Exline. He leaves behind fond memories with his many nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania. Friends will be received on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   7. William T. “Bill” Senior, age 73 of DuBois, PA, died Monday, January 17, 2022 at his home. Born on September 11, 1948 in DuBois, PA he was the son of the late William and Catherine (Rensel) Senior. Bill was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a carpenter for many years and retired from Sensus Metering. After his retirement he worked part time at Hovis Auto & Truck Supply. Bill loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill is survived by 2 sisters (Nancy Butcher & her husband Ron of Las Vegas, NV and Mary D’Arcangelo & her husband John of Mesquite, NV), 2 brothers (Joseph Senior & his wife Cathy of DeBary, FL and Richard Senior & his wife Toni of DuBois, PA), 2 nephews (Ron Butcher, Jr. and Christopher D’Arcangelo), 2 nieces (Katie D’Arcangelo and Chelsea Senior), 1 great nephew (Benjamin Butcher), 2 step nephews (Scott & Charles Puleo), 1 step niece (Teresa Puleo) and numerous step great nieces and nephews.   8. Rose P. Clark, age 96 of DuBois, PA ascended into Heaven to spend eternity with her beloved husband Sonny on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on August 18, 1925 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Petronella (Kerkosky) Waseleski. On May 3, 1947 she married her husband of 58 years, George M. “Sonny” Clark. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2006. Rose retired from the Riverside Penn Traffic Steak n’ Snack Restaurant after over 20 years of service. She was a member of both the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where she was active in church affairs and the former Lithuanian Club. Rose is survived by her children (Cindy Costa & her husband Richard of Spokane, WA, Patty Deeb Yarger of DuBois, PA and George E. Clark & his wife Jeanne of DuBois, PA), 10 grandchildren (Rich Costa, Michelle Davis, Michael Deeb, Chris Deeb & Jennifer Deeb, Sarah Miller, Jessica Morgan, George A. Clark, Stephanie Porter & Jeremy Clark), 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers (Joseph & Stanley Waseleski), 5 sisters (Mary Waseleski, Sister M. Rene Waseleski, Ann Griffith, Martha Amshey & Helen Amshey) and 1 granddaughter (Mary Suzanne Clark).   9. Thomas L. “Tim” Shaffer, Sr., Age 79 of Sykesville, PA died Friday, January 21, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on July 22, 1942 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene and Theresa (Dixon) Shaffer. Tim worked for many years at McDowell Manufacturing in DuBois. After McDowell closed, he went to the police academy at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and went on to serve the Reynoldsville Borough as a police officer. He was an avid hunter and trapper. He enjoyed playing Bingo and in his earlier years, he raced at the Hummingbird Speedway. Tim is survived by 3 children (Sheri Fitzpatrick & her husband Tom of DuBois, PA; Thomas Shaffer Jr. & his wife Jean of Punxsutawney, PA; and Nina Shaffer & her wife Heather of Mechanicsville, VA), 4 grandchildren (John Michael Pearce & his wife Ashley; Kody Shaffer & his wife Alisha; and Neil & Kyle Fitzpatrick), 3 great grandchildren (Lane Shaffer and Greyson & Mattie Pearce), 2 sisters (Dorothy Thompson of Buffalo, NY, and Linda Clark of Tyrone, PA) and his companion of 22 years (Louise Howard). He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers (Gerald, Robert, & Loraine Shaffer), and 3 sisters (Betty Himes, Gail Shaffer, & Donna McLeod). Born on Friday, January 7, 2022, she was the daughter of Delores Delp of Reynoldsville, PA and Chris Martin of Lock Haven, PA. Adalynn is survived by 1 brother (Gage White) and 1 sister (Harley Yusnukis), paternal grandparents (Nicole Hancock and John Martin) and maternal grandfather (Kevin Delp).   11. Alice Knepp, age 57 of Morrisdale, PA died Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on October 25, 1964 in Philipsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Salvage and Vivian (Burton) Salvage. Her mother survives. On February 13, 2009, she married Michael Knepp. He survives. Alice had worked at Dollar General in Morrisdale. She was a member of Life Community Church in DuBois where she enjoyed participating in many church activities. Alice is also survived by her two children (Josh and James Burnside), numerous grandchildren and six siblings (Jean Buckvich, Elizabeth Buskey, Thomas Salvage, Cathy Pierce, Leroy Salvage and Charles Salvage).   12. Ann Katherine Waylonis, age 78 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Penn Highlands Hospital after a long illness. Born on July 30, 1943 in DuBois, she was the daughter of Anthony Waylonis Sr. and Ann (Kardysauskas) Waylonis. Ann was a 1961 graduate of DuBois High School and a 1965 graduate of Steubenville College. Ann taught elementary school in Maryland and at St. Catherine’s school in DuBois. Later, for many years she was the manager of the Best Western motel in DuBois. After retirement from full time work Ann worked part time at the Courier Express as an editor. Ann enjoyed reading, gardening, travel and the company of family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Ann is survived by her brother, Anthony Waylonis, Jr. who resides in DuBois, her special nephew Anthony Waylonis from Alexandria, VA, and her special niece Ellen Waylonis from Cambridge, MA. Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph. There will be no public visitation and a private family funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.   13. Paul V. Staniszewski, Age 79 of Troutville, PA died Friday, January 14, 2022 at his home. Born on March 27, 1942 in Canonsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Vincent and Matilda (Habe) Staniszewski. He was a graduate of California of Pennsylvania State Teachers College. Paul retired as a director of the special education program in Wayne New Jersey after 50 years of service. During his tenure he was invited to Washington D.C. to serve on the President's Council for Hiring the Handicap and did so for several years. Paul was a man who found beauty in nature both large or small; from a butterfly to an elk, from a flower to a mountain. Locally, he is best remembered for his photography, especially of the elk. He was the author of several articles in the Watershed Journal. He loved gardening, flowers, and cats. Paul is survived by his life companion Aldeen Lanzoni, with whom he made his home. They were together for 56 years. He is also survived by his three nephews (Richard, Edward, & Paul Lanzoni, all of DuBois, PA).   14. David Kaufman, age 63 of Monroeville, PA died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his home. Born on July 6, 1958 in Jersey Shore, Pa, he was the son of the late Jacob and Ida “Sue” (Mamolen) Kaufman. David was a 1976 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s in Business Administration from Clarion University. David had worked as an auditor, a claims adjuster and in higher education. His most recent position was with the Better Business Bureau until his retirement this past summer. David was very passionate about Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was an avid rider and belonged to many different riding groups. He enjoyed being out on the open road with the many friends he made while riding. He is survived by his sister (Georgi Terrizzi & her husband Ray of State College, PA), a niece (Jordan Terrizzi), a nephew (Ryan Terrizzi), as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the funeral home with Laurel Suslow officiant. Burial will follow in the Sons of Israel Cemetery.   15. Joseph Roy, age 85 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on May 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Anthony and Bertha (Brink) Roy. Joe was a member of PEER, Pennsylvania Empowered Expert Residents Program and was very active in affairs at the DuBois Nursing Home. He is survived by 4 nephews that he was raised with (Thomas, James, William and Michael Roy) as well as other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, 1 sister (Martha Beck) and 3 brothers (Melvin, George and Thomas Roy). Joe was preceded in death by 4 brothers (Mike, Charlie, Bob and Tony Roy) and 4 sisters (Violet, Agnes, Thelma and Pauline). There will be no public visitation. Born on July 10, 1947 in St. Marys, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Grace (McQuone) Ginther. On July 9, 1994 he married Katherine (Poltl) Ginther. She survives. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the purple heart for his service. He retired from SGL Carbon in St. Marys after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior and had been a member of the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department. Wayne was very supportive of any charity that supported United States Veterans. Above all, he was devoted to his family. He is survived by his children (Allan Ginther & his wife Jenny Silvis of St. Marys, PA) and (Sue Ganczak and her husband Ray of St. Marys, PA), 3 grandchildren (Blake & Jesse Greishaw and Jaxon Silvis) and 1 brother (Donald Ginther of Kersey, PA).   17. Angelo L. Carmella, age 98 of DuBois, PA died Monday, January 10, 2022 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on September 18, 1923 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Leonard & Frances (Kartavich) Carmella. On April 30, 1949 he married Elizabeth L. “Tootie (Assalone) Carmella in Tyler, PA. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2020. Angelo was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. Angelo retired from the Jackson China Company in Falls Creek, PA after many years of service. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, and was a Red Cross and Meals on Wheels volunteer. He enjoyed racquetball at the DuBois YMCA and played a few times a week until he was 90 years old. Angelo is survived by his children; (Gerald Carmella & his wife Sherry of Lancaster, PA, Janis Mathewson & her husband Robert of Port Matilda, PA and Mary Harmon & her husband J.T. of Bethany Beach, DE), 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.   18. Linda C. Vesnesky, age 73 of DuBois, PA died unexpectedly, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at her home. Born on April 1, 1948 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Angeleen (Laman) Vesnesky. Linda was a 1966 graduate of DuBois High School. Linda worked at Daytona Florida Hospital as Office Manager. Linda relocated to DuBois in 2004 to care for her mother with cancer. She especially loved watching olympic figure skating, eating at Wendy’s and Subway and walking at the mall. Linda is survived by her loving brother Robert Vesnesky and many cousins.   19. Alice L. Saunders, age 79 of Rockton, PA, formerly of Sykesville, PA, died Friday, January 7, 2022 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on October 16, 1942 in Rockton, PA, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Maude (King) Lininger. On October 9, 1970 she married Claude R. Saunders. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1981. Alice had worked for the Pennsylvania State Department of Public Welfare as a caseworker in the Jefferson County office. She enjoyed gardening and baking. Alice is survived by her son, 2 granddaughters and 1 brother. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.   20. Mary C. Bolink, age 83 of Dubois PA died Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Dubois Nursing Home. Born on March 1, 1938 in Connellsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Maxwell) Skelley. On June 28, 1996 she married John Bolink. He survives. Mary retired as a caregiver from the DuBois Nursing Home after 17 years of service. She was a member of Smithtown Community Church. Mary enjoyed visiting with family and friends, going to church and reading. Mary liked picnics, shopping, taking the dog for a walk and most of all enjoyed her grandchildren.   21. Earl L. “Earlie” “Pup” Wray, Age 85 of DuBois, PA died Friday, January 7, 2022 at his home. Born on April 19, 1936 in DuBois, PA he was the son of the late Harry and Edna (Roderick) Wray. On May 25, 1963, he married Virginia S. “Ginny” (Yokobosky) Wray. She survives. Earlie was a veteran of the United States Army He retired from Rockwell International Manufacturing after 38 years of service. Earlie loved football. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan, and he, along with his son Jeff attended many OU football games. He was a well-known fixture for many years at the DuBois Beaver Football games as a player, a fan, a radio announcer and a spotter. During his playing career, he was a member of the only undefeated football team in DuBois Beaver history. He also accompanied WCED’s George Williams to many Pitt & Penn State Games. Earlie was active in the DuBois Little League as a coach for both his children and grandchildren. In his playing days, he was a member of the Murray’s Ford Softball Team, considered to be one of the best teams in the state of Pennsylvania. During his two-year teener league baseball playing career, he was a member the Pennsylvania State Teener League Championship 2nd place team, and the following year, a member of the state championship team. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and following their many activities. He is survived by a son (Jeffrey Wray & his wife Michele of DuBois, PA), a daughter (Diane Bakas & her husband John of New Smyrna Beach, FL, 4 grandchildren (Brittany & Alexis Wray, and Jason & Michael Bakas) a great grandchild (Alexander Bakas), and a brother (William Wray of Hamburg, PA.). He was preceded in death by four brothers; (Melvin “Booby” Wray, Robert “Auckie” Wray, Harry “Sooner” Wray, and Thomas Wray) and three sisters; (Grace Wray, Virginia Nesbitt and Kathryn Matson.)   22. Josephine (Kosko) Greenfield, age 92 of Raleigh, NC, formerly of DuBois, PA, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Raleigh, NC after a brief illness. Born on November 27, 1929 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Elizabeth (Rizzo) Schimizzi. She was married to Franklin (Chick) Kosko who preceded her in death. She then married Douglas Greenfield who also preceded her in death. Josie was a homemaker and had been a Grants Department Store manager and worked at Carborundum. She was a swimmer at DuBois Area High School where she held a long-distance swimming record. Later in life Josie was an avid bowler and cyclist and competed on both the state and national levels. She was a proud volunteer participant of the National Women’s Health Initiative for 40 years. Josie was Byzantine Catholic by faith and has lived most of her life in North Tonawanda, New York. Josie is survived by her children; (Debra Kosko of Raleigh, NC and Joseph Kosko of Saint Petersburg Beach, FL), 3 sisters (Georgia Schimizzi and Sandy Schimizzi both of DuBois, PA; Nancy Bogard of Port Clinton, OH) and over 50 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 sister (Mary Kopnitsky) and 2 brothers (Joseph & Frank Schimizzi). A private family visitation will be held. Carmel, IL, he was the son of the late Everett and Julie (Sietz) Youngman. On September 17, 1949 he married J. Faylene “Faye” (Scales) Youngman. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2018. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Youngman Bit Services and previous to that, he worked at Baker Hughes for 17 years. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. Born on September 26, 1943 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Houpt) Borrelli, Jr. In September of 1981 she married her husband, Thomas Pedulla. He survives. Sarah was a 1961 graduate of St. Catherine High School and a 1964 graduate of Mercyhurst College. After graduation she taught grade school in St. Marys and then was a 4th grade teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Savannah, GA and also overseas. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where she had been a religious education teacher for many years. When she was younger, she was involved in Community Theater and could speak several different languages.
