  1. Joseph J. Skunda, 97, of Brockway, PA, formerly of DuBois, died peacefully April 22, 2021 at home. Born November 29, 1923 in DuBois, PA, Joseph was a son of the late Dominic J. and Stella M. (Reclite) Skunda; He was a proud American who still honored his Lithuanian heritage. Joe graduated from high school in 1941 and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he returned home and worked for the B & O Railroad as a foreman for over 30 years. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia M. (Reams) Skunda whom he married on July 3,1948. she preceded him in death on July 6, 2009. Joe was a devout Roman Catholic and served as an usher at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in DuBois. He and his wife prayed the rosary together daily. As a young man, he sang in the men’s church choir and played baseball in the church league. He also served as a volunteer fire fighter and was a life member of DuBois Fire Department’s Goodwill Hose Company #5, and was a member of the former Lithuanian Independence Club. Joe was a kind, generous and thoughtful man, who took care of his ailing wife until her death in 2009. He was the best dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather in the world. He loved gardening, playing rummy, and talking to everyone he met in the store. His friendly demeanor brightened the day and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his four children, Douglas Skunda and his wife, Cathy, of Indiana, PA; Deborah Berlin and her husband, Robert, of Brockway, PA with whom he resided; Gregory Skunda and his wife, Sue, of DuBois, PA; and Kristine Porter and her husband, Michael, of Easton, PA; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Riffer, Ryan Skunda, Karli Puhala, Michael Skunda, Julia Bernardi, Joseph E. Skunda, Alexander Porter, Nicholas Porter and Matthew Porter; ten great-grandchildren, Braden and Evan Riffer, Zoe Moore and Kait Puhala, Joshua Skunda, Raine and Dean Skunda, Scarlett Bernardi, and Rose and Lily Porter ; his sister, Rosemary Brinton; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dominic, Albert and Michael Skunda, and sisters, Estelle Rokoski and Genevieve Morris. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.   2. Leslie M. Randolph, age 67 of Dubois, PA died Monday, April 19, 2021 at her home. She was born on December 3, 1953 in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Patricia (Powers) Mersinger. She was the co-owner and operator of New Light, Inc. in Shippenville, PA. Leslie is survived by one son Garrett Randolph of DuBois, PA. There will be no public visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.   3. Antoinette “Toni” Scott, age 83 of Brockway, PA, died Monday, April 19, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on August 6, 1937 in Bakerton, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose (Mastaron) Gray. On July 16, 1960 she married her husband William S. Scott. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2019. Toni was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church and loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She was well known for her Christmas cookies and Easter pizza. Her family was her life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Toni is survived by one daughter (Beth Taylor and her husband Joe of Brockway, PA) and one son, (Dan Scott & his wife Molly of New Albany, OH), 4 grandchildren; (Matt Taylor & his wife Amber, Kirsten Ilyas and her husband Basheer, and AJ and Natalie Scott), 2 great grandchildren (Remy and Penn Taylor), 4 sisters in law (Marcia Gray, Mary Kernan and her husband Frank, Margaret Vail and Fink Scott) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 brother (William Gray) and 1 sister (Rose Marie Barnes). Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 6 PM– 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Social distancing requirements will be followed and masks are required.   4. Beverly A. Galentine, Age 77 of Grampian, PA died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born June 26, 1943 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Guy V. & Martha E. Jackson Galentine. On November 10, 1964, she married Archie L. Galentine. He preceded her in death in 2005. Beverly retired from Shop n Save in DuBois. Previous to that, she was a well-known cook at Valley Dairy in the DuBois Mall for many years. She, along with her husband Archie owned and operated Galentine Trucking. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader. Beverly was also a member of the Susquehanna Antique Machinery Association. Beverly is survived by a daughter, (Tracy Finnell & her husband Dr. Val of York, PA), 3 grandchildren (Zachary, Lucas, and Marina Finnell), 2 great grandchildren (Oliver & Ayla Finnell), and 3 siblings (Kenneth Galentine & his wife Nancy of Luthersburg, PA, Mildred Bilsky of DuBois, PA, & Sylvia Thomas of Brockway, PA). She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   5. Anna R. Rivera, age 53 of DuBois, PA died Friday, April 16, 2021 at her home. Born on August 31, 1967 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth (Katsoris) Kohlenberg. Anna was a homemaker. She is survived by one daughter (Anna Ruth Rivera) and one son (Joseph Manuel Rivera), 6 grandchildren; (Isabel, Camden, Annalyee, Manuel, Joseph, & Angelo), and siblings (Jessie Reighn, Irene Woods, Jo McDowell, and Carl, John, & Katherine Kohlenberg). She was preceded in death by her brother (James Kohlenberg). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1 p.m. from Luthersburg Union Cemetery with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.   6. Michael R. Smith, age 48 of Reynoldsville, PA died Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his residence. Born on September 17, 1972 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Michael C. Smith and Carol Ann (Stange) Smith who survives of DuBois, PA Michael retired from the U.S. Marine Corp. as a Captain. He also was a graduate of the University of Florida with a BS Degree. In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by two sisters; (Brenda Forster of Deland, FL) and (Laura Hains and her husband Richard of Deland, FL). He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service for Michael R. Smith, age 48 of Reynoldsville, PA who passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor James Goodman officiating.   7. Jane M. Bonsall, Age 95 of Luthersburg, PA died Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Christ the King Manor. Born on February 28, 1926 in Troutville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Esther (Weisgarber) Bonsall. On August 14, 1965, she married James H. Bonsall. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2016. She retired as an elementary school teacher after 25 years of service working in both the Altoona and the DuBois Area School Districts. While in DuBois, she taught kindergarten at the Hubert Street School. Jane was a member of Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the DuBois Area School Retirees Association, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the Brady Grange #1218 and the Over 50 Club. She loved gardening, crocheting, music and enjoyed traveling. Above all, Jane enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by four nieces: Kathy Hartzfeld and Nancy London and her husband, Harold, both of Punxsutawney, PA; Margaret Bonsall of Youngstown, OH and Becky Anderson and her husband, Richard of DuBois, PA; two great nieces and five great nephews. She was preceded in death by one nephew Wallace Bonsall. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   8. Carole J. Senior, age 77 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Nelson’s Golden Years. Born on December 4, 1943 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jean Love Pifer. On June 4, 1961 she married Donald L. Senior her husband of 59 years. He survives. Carole retired from S&T Bank after over 30 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls and the Masonic Youth Service Organization. She was also a member of the J.E. DuBois Hose Company #3 Ladies Auxiliary. Carole is also survived by her children; (David Senior and his wife Jane, Rodney Senior and his wife Jo Ann and Scott Senior and his wife Shelly, all of DuBois, PA), two brothers; (Daniel Pifer of Oregon) and Mark Pifer of Plum Boro, PA), 3 grandchildren; (Brittany Senior, Samantha Adamczyk and her husband Gary and Eric Senior) and two great grandchildren; (Dawson and Jaxtyn). Due to our current circumstances there will be no public visitation.   9. Rita D. Kosempa, age 82 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on September 1, 1938 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Bergotti) Sink. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s Grade School and High School. Rita retired from the billing department at the DuBois Regional Medical Center after many years of service. She is survived locally by her cousin Angie Russell of DuBois, PA. She was preceded in death by her daughter (Christine Kosempa), one brother (Eugene Sink), two sisters; (Virginia Sink and Dottie Hackney) and cousin (Dick Fioravanti). Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   10. Judy S. Ogden, Age 69 of Falls Creek, PA died Saturday, March 27, 2021 at her home. Born on April 8, 1951 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Dorothea Wrighter Potempa. Judy retired from the DuBois Regional Medical after many years of service as a nursing assistant. previous to that, she had worked at the DuBois Nursing Home. She had been a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in DuBois and enjoyed donating to multiple charities dealing with wildlife. Judy loved Elvis Presley and had an extensive collection of his memorabilia and music. Judy is survived by 2 daughters, (Kimberlie Baughman & her husband Richard of Reynoldsville, PA, Kelly Berry & her husband William of Falls Creek, PA), a brother (Joseph Potempa of Penfield, PA), 5 grandchildren (Kayla Stewart, Eric Baughman, Dylan, Alex, & Sara Berry), and a great granddaughter (Emma Stewart). She was preceded in death by her brother, David Potempa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium.   11. Chad R. Schriver, Age 46 of Niagara Falls, NY died Friday, March 26, 2021 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born on December 30, 1974 in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of Carl & Mary (Frantz) Schriver. his father preceded him in death and his mother survives and lives in DuBois, PA. On July 23, 2004 he married Mary Beth Rutty Schriver. She survives. He was a 1993 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. Chad was the Produce Clerk at Tops Market in Niagara Falls. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son Michael Anthony Schriver of Niagara Falls, NY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Tabatha Schriver. There will be no public visitation and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.   12. J. Richard “Dick” Eazor, age 91 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on August 25, 1929 in Beaver Falls, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Anna (Ferris) Eazor. On January 5, 1955 he married his wife of 66 years, Wanda C. (Martin) Eazor. She survives. Dick was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. having served during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Dick Eazor Chevrolet-Pontiac in Brockway for 40 years. He was a past member of the Brockway Kiwanis Club and the Parson Marnatti American Legion Post 95 in Brockway. Dick is survived by one son James B. Eazor of Falls Creek, PA and two daughters; Lorraine Andrews & her husband James of Hartstown, PA and Candace Eazor of DuBois, PA, one granddaughter Shannon Harrett of Greenville, PA and two great grandchildren; Riley & Jay. He was preceded in death by one son Richard A. Eazor and one grandson Garrett. Due to our current circumstances there will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.   13. Gregory D. Punchios, Age 67 of DuBois, PA died Friday, March 26,2021 at his home. Born on June 7, 1953 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Wilford Punchios, Sr. and Betty (Sipe) Punchios. Greg worked as an engineer for Owens Illinois in furnace repair for many years. Through is work, he had the opportunity to travel the world. He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars where he was a member of the Honor Guard, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, and the Olympic Athletic Club. Greg is survived by a granddaughter (Erica Sweka of Sykesville, PA), 4 brothers (Wilford Punchios of Palm Springs, CA; Michael Punchios & his wife Patty and Theodore Punchios, both of DuBois, PA, and David Punchios of Phoenix, AZ), 4 sisters (Daryel Dickey of Buffalo, NY, Sharon Martin & her husband Jack of Mechanicsburg, PA, Robin Borelli & her husband Michael of DuBois, PA, and Diana Peterson & her husband Jon of Kissimmee, FL) and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son (Gregory Punchios) and a brother (Dennis Punchios). There will be no public visitation. A celebration of life service will be held from the James J.   14. Lydia I. Cunningham, age 98 of Spring Grove, PA (formerly of DuBois, PA) died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at her home. Born on January 23, 1923 in Reynoldsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Dorathea J. (Schultz) McKee. She had married James Federico who preceded her in death in 1947. She then married William C. Cunningham in 1963. He preceded her in death in 1994. Lydia had worked at Sunshine Market in Reynoldsville, PA, Cameron Manufacturing and Rockwell International Manufacturing. She was also a part owner of the Yellowjacket Drive-In in Sheridan, AR. Lydia is survived by her two daughters; Sandra Buffington and her husband Steven of Spring Grove, PA and Sallie Federico Reynolds and her husband Richard of San Diego, CA. She was a dedicated grandmother to her two grandchildren, Aaron Buffington & his wife Jennifer, and Adam Buffington & his wife Elizabeth, as well as 3 great grandchildren, William, Jameson, and Morgan Buffington. She is also survived by her sister Dorathea “Dolly” Snyder of Mayport, PA. Lydia was preceded in death by her 3 sisters; Christine Bearfield, Ruth Henry, & Dolores Sheetz and 2 brothers; George & Robert McKee. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   15. Shirley (Kirk) Shively Erickson, age 86 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on July 14, 1934 in Rockton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Gertrude (Weber) Kirk. In 1995 she married Donald H. Erickson. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2014. Shirley had worked as a communication dispatcher for the Police Department in Hollywood, FL for 28 years. She had a strong faith and was very active within Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois. Shirley had a wonderful creative side- always impressing her friends and family with her knitting and sewing projects. Not to mention, her ability to whip up a delicious meal in minutes, while also being able to spot a crumb on the floor a mile away. She was clever and incredibly sarcastic, not afraid to tell it like it is. Every summer she looked forward to spending time with her granddaughter, baking cookies, making Shepard’s pie, and going to the family farm. She also loved her dachshunds puppies and cared for 3 generations of Misty’s. Undoubtedly, Shirley will be missed by friends and family alike.   16. Sharron Switzer age 72 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, March 20, 2021 at her home. Born on May 10, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Irvine and Cecile (Arnold) Chandler. She married Bernard Switzer. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2018. Sharron retired as Produce Manager from Tops Supermarket in Youngsville, PA after over 30 years of service. Sharron and her husband had loved to camp and travel throughout the United States. She, along with her good friend Carol Brodie, enjoyed each other’s company and made many road trips and volunteered for various charitable organizations in the DuBois area. She is survived by her daughter (Michelle Sedor & her husband Stephen of DuBois, PA) and her stepson (Shannon Switzer of Warren, PA), two granddaughters; (Amanda Dyer of Erie, PA and Alexis Dyer of DuBois, PA), two step grandchildren, one great granddaughter (Zoey Dyer), numerous step great grandchildren, two sisters; (Nancy and Elizabeth) and one brother (Ronald).   17. James Robert Hess, 56, of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 19th 2021. Jim was born in DuBois, PA on June 9th 1964, the son of Bonnie Bloom of DuBois and the late John Hess. On May 7th 1988 he married his wife of 32 years, Tricia M. (Volosky) Hess, she survives. Jim was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and spent 38 years working in the rail car industry for Rescar Inc. He was involved with the Sabula United Methodist Church and volunteered as a youth football coach and Boy Scout Leader. Jim enjoyed spending time with his wife, traveling to Disney World, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his mother and wife, Jim is survived by three children: Justin Hess and wife Meghan of Rockton, PA Danielle Kane and husband James of Dallas, PA, and Joshua Hess of DuBois, PA.   18. James J. Lane, Age 94 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home after a long battle with COVID 19. Born on March 1, 1927 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Jefferies) Lane. He was married to Ila J. (Love) Lane. She preceded him in death. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He retired from the Brockway Glass Company as a Manager of Sales & Marketing after over 35 years of service. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, Jim was a member of the Garfield Lodge #559 Free & Accepted Masons and the Jaffa Shrine. He was a life member of the Sandy Hose Company #1, a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, the Reynoldsville Eagles, and the Penn State Alumni Association. Jim was an avid college wrestling fan and followed both Penn State & Clarion University closely. He was a dance skating instructor in his younger days and loved his poodle dogs. He is survived by a daughter, Nikki Bacha and her husband Joseph of DuBois, PA, 2 grandsons, Easton and Weston Bacha, both of DuBois, PA, a sister, Joan Heindl and her husband Ed of DuBois, PA, and his long-time friend Kathy.   19. Francis A. Romeo, age 91, of DuBois, PA died Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his home. Born on February 8, 1930 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Mittiga) Romeo. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. Francis was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, having served during the Korean War. He had been employed by S & T Bank (formerly Union Banking & Trust Company) for 36 years. Francis served as DuBois City Controller for 5 consecutive terms totaling 20 years. He was awarded Controller of the year by the Pennsylvania City Controller’s Association. He had been very active in The Knights of Columbus where he was a Past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of the third and fourth degrees. Francis had been an avid bowler and an active member of the Allegheny Mountains Bowling Association for many years where he was inducted in to their Hall of Fame in 1996. He also enjoyed antique and classic cars. Francis was a Past Commander of the George D. Montgomery Post 17 American Legion where he had served as the Chaplin, and was a Senior Vice Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he also served as the Chaplin. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was an area group leader of their youth group. Francis was an active volunteer with many organizations including; Disabled American Veterans, was an AARP Income Tax volunteer, and Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging. Frances is survived by 4 nephews (Robert Pohe, Mark (Lorraine) Gearhart, Tony (Davina) Romeo, and Dr. Michael (Lindsay) Romeo) and numerous great nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters (Julia Pohe and Mildred Gearhart), and a brother (Joseph Romeo). Born on August 6, 1928 in Helvetia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Petro) Baranoski. On May 16, 1953 she married Cashmere Henry Krulia. He preceded her in death in September 2018. They had been married for 65 years. Josephine was a waitress at the former Lithuanian Club as well as a homemaker. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in DuBois and then St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in DuBois. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Krulia of Pittsburgh, and her daughter Mary Ann Frankola and her husband John of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren: Kathryn Frankola of New Orleans, LA Stephen Frankola of New York, NY and Kevin Frankola of Seattle; WA and two great grandsons, Walter and Henry Welsh. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Walter and Frank Baranoski, and five sisters: Mary Vesnesky, Phyllis Godak, Genevieve Doksa, Bernice Rydbom, and Dorothy Ball. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War. He had worked in the maintenance department at the DuBois Mall for many years. He enjoyed working on his vehicles and loved to go fishing. Above all, he loved being with his family.   23. Marion E. Foltz, age 95 of Kensington, MD, formerly of DuBois, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD after a short illness. Born on April 14, 1925 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Orpha (King) Deasey. On November 27, 1949, in DuBois, PA, she married James H. Foltz of Reynoldsville, PA. He preceded her in death in 1998. Marion was a longtime resident of Kensington, Maryland, where she was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church. She graduated from Indiana University and became a registered nurse. She used her nursing background throughout her life to help family and friends. Marion loved working in the kitchen. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, tending to her house plants, and watching baseball games and NASCAR. She is survived by her son, James D. Foltz, Kensington, MD, and several nieces and nephews. She was the last member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Deasey, and Joseph F. Deasey.
