  1. Linda L. Haag, age 79 of Troutville, PA died Monday, September 7, 2020 at her home. Born on March 9, 1941 in Troutville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Knarr, Sr. and Ruby Weber Knarr. On June 17, 1961 she married her husband of 59 years, Joseph Haag. He survives. Linda was a homemaker. She loved to quilt and bake. She enjoyed canning and working on the Knarr Family Farm. Linda is survived by her children; (Brian S. Haag & his wife Jaqueline and Terry J. Haag all of Troutville, PA), siblings; (Bernard Knarr of DuBois, PA, Nancy Galentine & her husband Ken of Luthersburg, PA, Denny Knarr & his wife Diane, Sally Knarr and Robert Knarr & his wife Leona all of Troutville, PA), 3 grandchildren; (Keith Haag & his wife Gina, Steven Haag & his wife Kayla and Jamie Mennetti & her husband Jeremy) and 5 great grandchildren;( Beau & Nolan and Kole, Kobie & Knox Haag). She was preceded in death by 1 son Timothy A. Haag. There will be no public visitation and a service will be held at the convenience of the family.   2. The family of William P. Kiel, age 88 or “Wild Bill” as he was known to friends, regrets to announce his passing on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. He is now on his eternal heavenly ride on his beloved Harley Davidson. Born on November 5, 1931 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence “Ted” Kiel and Betty DeLarme Kiel. He was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School. Bill was a Korean War Army veteran who then served an additional 6 years in the Army Reserve. He worked at V.T. Smith Dairy and was then employed by the DuBois Area School District as a custodian. Bill had served as a volunteer fireman at J.E. DuBois Hose Company #3. He was a man of great faith, and enjoyed church services as well as sharing the Gospel to people. From an early age, he was involved in working on cars, serving as a flagman at the old Hummingbird Speedway, enjoying the companionship of his dog and riding his motorcycle around town (where he was widely known as a daredevil on wheels starting in high school). He loved to visit the battlefields of Gettysburg and Civil War reenacting. He will be missed by many people around DuBois, as he loved to visit various establishments and make new friends. He is survived by sons Robert C. Kiel of DuBois, PA and William R. Kiel of Tionesta, PA and their mother Barbara “Peggy” Spene, cousin Dale Shannon and various other cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Rosalie and Donna. Due to our current circumstances, there will be no public visitation. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.   3. Judith A. Songer, age 75, of Shippenville, PA formerly of Brookville, PA, died Monday, August 31, 2020 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born on October 18, 1944, in Brookville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Henry) Crooks. Upon graduation from Brookville Area High School, Judy moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the government. She also held various jobs in the insurance industry. She was involved with the Brookville United Fund for many years. Judy also had served on the Brookville School Board and was involved with the yearly Laurel Festival. She enjoyed traveling, having visited 48 of the 50 states. Judy was a devoted grandmother and was fondly called “Kissy” by her 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Judy is survived by her children; (Brenda (Hetrick) Fleming & her husband David of Brookville, PA, Becky (Hetrick) Nesbit & her husband Michael of DuBois, PA, Barbara (Hetrick) Dempster & her husband Ronald of Mt. Airy, MD and Stephen Songer & his wife Christy of DuBois, PA), 2 brothers; (Richard Crooks & his wife Dorothy of Peoria, AZ and James Crooks & his husband Douglas Fuller of Ann Arbor, MI), 10 grandchildren; (Sarah, Hannah and William Fleming, Nicholas, Jack and Benjamin Dempster, Lauren Carr, A.J. Nesbit and Shani & Austin Songer) and 1 great grandchild (Maddox). There will be no public visitation and a private family funeral service will be held from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.   4. Edward M. Misiewicz, age 92, of DuBois, PA died Friday, August 28, 2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on August 12, 1928, in West Liberty, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph B. & Anna Mary (Lipniak) Misiewicz. On August 21, 1954, he married his wife of 66 years, Josephine (Seduski) Misiewicz. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2020. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. Ed retired as a machine operator from Rockwell International Manufacturing after over 40 years of service. He was a life member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was very committed to his Catholic faith. He was also a member of the Polish Citizens Club and the Sandy Hose #1 Fireman’s Club. He enjoyed gardening and oil painting in his early years. Most important to Ed was his family. He will be missed most for his smile, wit and his jokes. Ed is survived by 5 children (Helen Sutton & her husband Paul of Pittsburgh, PA; Mary Jo Horgan & her husband Marty of Pittsburgh, PA; Jeanne Kolash & her husband Michael of DuBois, PA; Sharon Fremer & her husband Mark of Alpharetta, GA; and Michael Misiewicz of DuBois, PA), 11 Grandchildren (Jennifer, Steven, Rachel, & Kevin Sutton; Kaylin & Sean Horgan; Michael Kolash, Michelle Hemke & husband Travis; Abigail & Sophie Fremer; and Michael B. Misiewicz), 3 great grandchildren (Layne & Launa Hemke; and Allie Kolash); He was preceded in death by 5 brothers; (Stanley, Alex, Joseph, Walter and infant Frank Misiewicz), 4 sisters; (Helen Busch, Hattie Grzybinski, Mary Murone and Anna Kostick). Although missed by many, he rests with his bride and love of his life, his parents, and his siblings. Ed was the last surviving member of his family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 1-4 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Social distancing requirements will be followed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 10 AM from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   5. Robert E. “Bob” Rutherford, age 94 of DuBois, PA died peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the DuBois Village. Born on November 12, 1925 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Albert & Margaret (Sheridan) Rutherford. On February 14, 1954, he married Morley Ann (Highley) Rutherford. She preceded him in death on August 6, 2011. Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. He retired from the Chevron Corporation in Pittsburgh after 35 years of service as Manager of Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance. He attended the University of Missouri where he obtained both his B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering and his J.D. in Law. He, along with his wife, were very active in the Episcopal Church in both Pittsburgh, PA and St, John, USVI. Bob enjoyed following the stock market and was a member of the Audubon Society in St. John, as well as other numerous philanthropic organizations. Bob is survived by his children; (William Rutherford & his wife Linda of Kansas City, MO, Jain Rutherford of Seattle, WA and John Rutherford & his wife Lisa of DuBois, PA), 1 sister (Isabelle Chapman of Long Island, NY), 6 grandchildren; (Missy, Melanie, Thomas, Roxanne, Stephen & Taylor), 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; (Albert & William Rutherford). As per Bob’s wishes, there will be no public visitation and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.   6. Dora H. “Helen” Wilson, age 93 of formerly of Chestnut Avenue, DuBois, PA, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Christ The King Manor. Born on February 16, 1927 in Brookville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carlton W. & Ida E. (Young) Hetrick. Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois, PA, enjoyed crafting, gardening, traveling and she loved doing puzzles. She is survived by her children; (David A. DeMotte & his wife Gerri of Washington, PA, Sandra J. Zavatsky & her husband Jim, Donald E. DeMotte & his wife Lisa and Christal L. “Cookie” Blakeslee all of DuBois, PA),3 step children; (Jack & David Wilson and Mary Ann Snell), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 husbands; (William DeMotte, Daniel Ott and Lawrence Wilson), 2 brothers; (Allen & Ray Hetrick) and 2 sisters; (Rose Zimmerman & Alice Hetrick).   7. Barbara J. Pompeii, Age, 84 of DuBois, PA died Friday, August 21, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 4, 1935 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Waseleski) Amshey. On August 2, 1958, she married her husband of 62 years, Anthony E. “Tony” Pompeii. He survives. Barb was a 1953 graduate of the Sandy High School. She then went on to attend Spencer School of Nursing in Meadville, PA where she became a registered nurse. Barb worked at the DuBois Hospital for 40 years and was one of the initial RN’s for the intensive care unit and also served as the night supervisor for many years. She was a life member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and traveling to the beach with her family. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Barb is survived by 3 children (James E. Pompeii & his wife Kelle of DuBois, PA; Michael A. Pompeii & his wife Lee Ann of Fredericksburg, VA; and Lisa A. Pompeii of Lancaster, PA), 1 brother (Joseph Amshey of Reynoldsville, PA), 5 grandchildren (Jill, Brian, Josh, Kasey, & Drew Pompeii), and 2 great grandchildren (Lyla & Scarlett). She was preceded in death by 2 brothers (David & Paul Amshey). Due to our current circumstances, there will be no public visitation. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 10 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   8. Elizabeth J. Depra, Age 94 of DuBois, Pa died Friday, August 21, 2020 at Christ the King Manor. She formerly lived on Arminta Street in DuBois. Born on September 3, 1925 in Creekside, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wensel & Agnes (Sims) Kline. She was married to Samuel Depra, Jr in November of 1963 and he preceded her in death in March of 1986. She lost a son, Paul Pavelko, Jr. in 1961. Elizabeth was one of ten children and only one brother and one sister survive. Elizabeth is survived by 2 daughters, Diane Van Sice& Karen Joyce, both of DuBois, PA, 2 grandsons, Robert Celinski (Cathy) of Ridgway, PA & James Van Sice (Carla) of North Carolina and a great granddaughter Kendra Celinski of Jeannette, PA. During her productive years, Elizabeth was “June Cleaver” domestic. She enjoyed antiquing, home décor, gardening, sewing and helping family and friends; even strangers. she had a wonderful sense of humor and had a kind heart. Elizabeth did not fear leaving the world, assured of her salvation in Jesus Christ. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.   9. Julian L. Baummer, Jr., Age 79 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at his home. Born on May 31, 1941 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Julian L. and Grace (Hagg) Baummer, Sr. On June 17, 1983, he married Amelia (Sprankle) Baummer. She survives. Julian was a veteran of the United States Navy having retired as a Master Chief after 20 years of service including a tour in the Vietnam War. He then went on to work for 15 years at Brockway Pressed Metals until its closing. He was a past member of the Reynoldsville Eagles and the Forth Ward Hose Company. Julian is survived by 7 children (Joseph Baummer & his wife Patricia of Penfield, PA; John Baummer of Reynoldsville, PA; Paul Baummer of Houtzdale, PA; Karen Landini & her husband John of DuBois, PA; Susan Deemer & her husband Rick of Rockton, PA; and Tricia Territo, and Megan Baummer, both of DuBois, PA), 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Georgianna Lockitski. Due to our current circumstances, a private family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.   10. Frances A. “Fran” Marshall, age 72 of DuBois, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at her home. Born on January 11, 1948 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Grace (Lucore) Novitsky. On October 28, 1987 she married Frederick S. Marshall. He survives. Fran was the manager of Fashion Bug in DuBois many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church where she was active in church affairs, especially the Outreach Dinner Program. She was also a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church Rosary Infant of Praque Society, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Falls Creek, PA. Fran enjoyed reading, music in the city park on Thursday nights and spending time with her grandchildren. Fran is survived by one daughter, (Michele Hatten of Curwensville, PA), one sister, ( Barbara Ross & her husband Ron of DuBois, PA), 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son (James Hatten, Jr.) and one sister (Carol Teddick). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 4-7 PM the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Social distancing requirements will be followed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 10 AM from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr.   11. Joyce A. Heinrichs, age 89 of DuBois, PA departed this world peacefully on August 19, 2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on March 13, 1931 in Raritan, NJ, the daughter of the late Charles & Natalia (Righi) Manara. On October 28, 1956, she married her husband of 64 years, Henry G.“Hank” Heinrichs. He survives. During her 30 years in DuBois, Joyce loved to host family and friends at the lake, making countless great memories. She made many dear friends volunteering at St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church activities, the adult literacy program, the local medical clinic and various events planned by the Treasure Lake Garden Club. She loved her time spent with wonderful neighbors, the Ladies of the Lake, her book club and her “walking” buddies. She is survived by 2 sons;( Jeff Heinrichs & his wife Andrea and Jon Heinrichs & his wife Theresa), and her seven cherished grandchildren Michael & his wife Christine, Jonathan and his wife Lisa, Steven, Eric, Daniel, Renata and Andrew Goldstein and Larissa. She is also survived by her brother Jim Manara. She was preceded in death by a daughter (Nancy Heinrichs Vieira). Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 10 AM until 12 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   12. Sherry A. “Susie” Okonski, age 67 of DuBois, PA died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on November 28, 1952 in St. Marys, PA, she was the daughter of Robert and Belva (Sherry) Jasper. Her mother survives and lives in St. Marys, PA. Her father preceded her in death. On April 28, 1978, she married Donald M. Okonski. He survives. She was a graduate of Elk County Catholic High School and the DuBois Business College. Sherry was the owner and operator of Rosie’s Book Shop for many years. She loved her dogs Riley & Regal and enjoyed meeting with her book club friends every month. She was the leader of Colorful Creations, an organization that provided chemotherapy caps for cancer patients throughout the world. Sherry had a heart of gold and was always helping her family and community. She is also survived by 1 sister (Cheryl Baumgratz & her husband Carl, Jr. of St. Marys, PA), 1 brother (Richard Jasper & his wife Robin of St. Marys, PA), 2 nephews; (Rob (Mindy) Trask of St. Marys, PA and Henry Okonski of Pittsburgh, PA), 2 nieces; (Adda Jasper of Harrisburg, PA and Jean Jasper of Glen Hazel, PA) and great nieces and nephews; (Lyssa, Macy, Matthew and Sam). Sherry was preceded in death by a special uncle (David Jasper) and a very special nephew (Jason “Jake” Trask).   13. Kirk Christian Anderson, age 26 of DuBois, PA, died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born on August 7, 1994 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of Christopher T. Anderson of Syracuse, NY and Tanya (Malasky) Duttry and her husband Mark of DuBois, PA. He is survived by his wife Victoria Kaye (Wheeler) Anderson, his "Princess". Kirk is also survived by his siblings; (Brooke Young of Springfield, OR, Arin Anderson of Shepard, WV and Tara Anderson of DuBois, PA). There will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.   14. Jack L. Manners, age 81 of DuBois, PA, died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at his home. Born on December 4, 1938 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Sidney and Violet (Burkett) Manners. In 1960, he married Joann (Anthony) Manners. She survives. Jack was the owner and operator of Jack’s Heating for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.   15. Ruth “Marlene” Saari, age 82, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of DuBois, PA, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on January 23, 1938 in St. Marys, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald Johnson Ross and Ruth Pauline Walker McKolanis. She was married to Felix “Ken” Saari. He preceded her in death. Marlene was a homemaker and also a substitute teacher. She was a member of the North Hills Community of Christ Church of Pittsburgh and enjoyed art, music, reading, and journaling. In her younger years, she enjoyed belonging to her garden club. Marlene is survived by 4 children (Debra Rivera and her husband Adolfo of Spring Hill, FL; Dallas Perkins and his wife Andrea of Sherman Oaks, CA; Stephen Perkins and his wife Lisa of Williamsburg, VA; and Randal Perkins and his wife Julia of Pittsburgh, PA); a sister (Sarah Hughes and her husband James of Myrtle Beach, SC), 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.   17. Margie A. Good, age 81 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, August 9, 2020 at her home. Born on August 28, 1938 in Punxsutawney, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Theresa (Palmer) Gresock. On May 10, 1958 she married her husband of 62 years, Jack Good. He survives. Margie was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, going to yard sales, oil painting and dancing.   18. C. William “Bill” Adams, Sr.age 80 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, August 9, 2020 at his daughter’s home in Treasure Lake. Born on August 25, 1939 in Youngstown, PA, he was the son of the late Carl & Lillian (Morris) Adams. On October 4, 1958 he married his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Hauser) Adams. She survives. Bill retired as the superintendent of both the Gold & Silver Golf Courses at Treasure Lake after 35 years of service. Previous to that, he was the foreman of the Latrobe Country Club Golf Course under the guidance of Deacon Palmer, the father of Arnold Palmer. He was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 965 in Falls Creek, PA. Bill loved to golf and work in his yard. Born on November 13, 1959 in Punxsutawney, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ira Eugene and Ruth (Dallenbach) Fillhart. Her mother survives and lives in Punxsutawney. She was married to David “Scott” Guzzo. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2007. Susan had just retired from Acosta Sales and Marketing after many years of service. She served on the Union Township Park Committee for many years and was a member of the Roseville Independent Chapel where she was active in church affairs. Susan loved baking, quilting, traveling and going to different places to eat. She was known as a “foodie”. Above all, she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was a kind, loving person who had the ability to light up any room. Once you met Susan, you had a friend for life. She is survived by her children; (Joshua J. Muth & his wife Sarah of Wheeling, WV, Michael P. Muth of Rockton, PA, Sherri S.   23. Bernard E. “Bernie” Powers III, age 64 of Boone Mountain died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his home. Born November 21, 1955 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Bernard E. Powers Jr. and Berdeana R. (Spessert) Powers. He was a 1973 graduate of DuBois Area High School. Bernie was an avid baseball player in his younger days; winning Federation Championships with The DuBois Colonials and Falls Creek Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, many outings with friends, watching the Oakland Raiders, and traveling to the Seneca Casino. After working since the age of 16 for many different companies, Bernie retired from Keystone Bingo in 2017. Bernie is survived by his brother, Stephen E. She was a member of the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Sykesville, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and always active in church affairs. She also loved to knit.
