  1. Brenda L. Ciepiela, age 52 of DuBois, PA died Friday, June 12, 2020 at her home. Born on November 8, 1967, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Robert & Rosella (Grafton) Glass. Her parents survive & live in Butler, PA. On October 6, 2001, she married Jan Ciepiela. He survives. Brenda as a homemaker Brenda is survived by 7 children (Aaron Rice of DuBois, PA; Rose Gillis of Frederick, MD; Crystal Chewe of Butler, PA; Joshua & Jonathon Ciepiela, both of Travers City, MI; and Faith and Amanda Ciepiela both of Warren, MI), 3 brothers (Bob Glass of Lovettsville, VA; Wes Glass of Wheeling, WV; and Mike Glass of Butler, PA) and 9 grandchildren.   2. Robert L. Krach, Jr., age 64 of Reynoldsville, PA died Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on December 21, 1955 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Robert L. & Helen (Clinchoc) Krach, Sr. On May 28, 1977, he married Deborah L. (Bearfield) Krach. She survives. Robert was a heavy equipment operator for several coal companies in the area for many years. He was a member of the Sykesville Eagles, was an avid hunter and enjoyed all types of sports, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Robert is survived by 3 children (Dana Drake & her husband Corry of Pittsburgh, PA; and Robert L. Krach, II and Devanie Krach both of Reynoldsville, PA), a sister (Kathryn DeLarme of Sykesville, PA; 2 brothers (Gary Krach of Reynoldsville, PA and Jeff Krach of Falls Creek, PA) and 3 grandchildren (Robert L. Krach, III, and Levi & Waylen Drake). He was preceded in death by a brother (Charles Krach) and an infant brother (Douglas Krach).   3. DeVere T. Perry, age 90 of DuBois, PA died Tuesday, June 9,2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on July 30, 1929 in Reynoldsville, PA, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Fuoco) Perry. Dee was a veteran having served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University for both his Bachelor of Science as well as his Masters Degree in Education. On July 17, 1970 he married Anna Mae Sidor. She preceded him in death in 1987. Dee retired from the DuBois Area School District in 1987 after 35 years of service teaching Social Studies and Math. Dee was a member of the Nativity of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church where he was active in church affairs and the Penn State Alumni Association. He is survived by his 2 sons;(Thomas Perry & his wife Sharon of DuBois, PA and James Perry of Beverly, MA), and 2 grandchildren; (Maddie and Spencer Perry). He was preceded in death by 4 sisters;(Rose Garofalo, Louise Perry, Christine Poydock and Sue Krushesky) and 4 brothers; (Patrick “Paddy”, Theodore, Thomas and the Reverend Michael Perry).   4. Edna E. Gould, age 78 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on July 27, 1941 in Brockway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Kennedy) Freemer. On May 15, 1961, she married her husband of 59 years, Robert K. Gould. He survives. She retired from J.C. Penney Company after 36 years of service. She worked at both the downtown store and the DuBois Mall. Edna enjoyed bowling for many years and doing crafts. She was an avid fan of all sports, especially NASCAR racing. She is survived by her children; (Theresa “Tessie” Molnar & her fiancé Chris Horner of Rimersburg, PA, David Gould & his wife Sheila of Stuart, FL and Jon Gould & his fiancé Renee Kuchenberg of Stuart, FL). 1 sister (Doris “Dee Dee”Abbas & her husband Mitch of Washington, PA) and 1 brother (Lester “Butch” Freemer & his wife Sandy of Brockway, PA) and 5 grandchildren; (Robert & Ashley Molnar and Seth, Sara & Kyle Gould). She was preceded in death by 2 brothers (Thomas & Richard) and 1 sister (Gracie). There will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.   5. William J. Kaizer, Jr. age 82 of DuBois, PA, died Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on September 28, 1937 in Stump Creek, PA, he was the son of the late William J. and Josephine (Trithart) Kaizer, Sr. On August 3, 1957 he married Hazel “Joyce” (Nelson) Kaizer. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2018. Bill retired from Beaver Meadow Creamery. Previous to that, he worked as a production manager for 23 years at Coca Cola until bottling was stopped. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Bill enjoyed fishing, especially fly fishing, hunting, and watching sports from T ball to the pros. Bill is survived by 2 daughters: Christine Hetrick & her husband Rick of Daytona Beach, FL and Patricia Thomas (and her late husband Rodger) of DuBois, PA; 1 sister, 2 brothers, 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter and an infant brother. There will be no public visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.   6. Theodore W. “Teddy” Wells, age 32 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, May 30, 2020 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on July 20, 1987, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Robert “Red” and Pauline “Polly” (Charnick) Wells. They survive. Teddy worked for Arbor Pro Tree Cutting Service for many years. He loved his job, especially working with his boss Sam Holland. He was a member of the Sykesville Eagles, the Sandy Hose Company #1 Firemans Club and Dad’s Horseshoe Club. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and loved all animals. Above all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. Teddy is survived by 2 sisters; (Mandy Torrell & her husband Joe of Sykesville, PA and Nicole Pompeii and her husband Steve Jr. of DuBois, PA), 1 niece (Morgan Torrell), his maternal grandmother (Pauline Charnick of Snowshoe, PA) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 2-4PM & 6-8PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A private service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from the funeral home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.   7. Randy A. Hannigan, Age 69 of DuBois, Pa died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his home. Born on February 19, 1951 in York, Pa. Randy was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He then obtained his Master’s Degree in Government Administration from American University. He retired as a Vice President of Operations from AmeriGas Propane Company after over 30 years of service. Randy, an avid sportsman enjoyed hunting and fishing, travelling with his wife, Katie. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his father, Earl W Hannigan and step-mother Audy Hannigan, his wife of 45 years, Katie Hannigan, 2 daughters , Becci Hannigan of Houston, TX and Megan Orf & her husband Joe of Wentzville, MO; 4 grandchildren, Kissinger & Zion Knott, and Helen & Lily Orf, a sister Connie “Cookie” Hannigan & her husband Marty Reed of Flagler Beach, FL.. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Cunningham Hannigan. There will be no public visitation.   8. Virginia M. Wolfgang, age 91 of DuBois, PA died Friday, May 29, 2020 at the DuBois Village. Born on January 28, 1929 in Kramer, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Bertha (Bishop) Fyke. On August 6, 1946 she married John L. Wolfgang. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2004. Virginia was a homemaker and was a member of the Treasure Lake Church. She is survived by her children; (Diane Ross & her husband Larry of Blandon, PA, Dennis Wolfgang & his wife Michelle of DuBois, PA and Dean Wolfgang & his wife Sherry of Fayetteville, NC), 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Virginia was preceded in death by 2 sons; (Terry Wolfgang and John L. Wolfgang, Jr.) and 2 brothers (Clair & Melvin Fyke).   9. Helen Ruth Dunlap, 92, of Fruitland Park, FL was born May 25, 1928 in DuBois, PA to James and Otie Smith Robinson. She passed away peacefully in her home on May 26, 2020. Mrs. Dunlap was a homemaker and an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with her family. Additionally, and for many years she was a member of Prime Time Singles. Survivors include: daughter Linda Senior of Fruitland Park; son Richard (Lynne LaVallee) Crawford of Salem, OR; son Robert (JoAnna) Crawford of Treasure Lake, PA; grandchildren, Gary (Jennifer) Senior, Michele Crawford, Melissa Schetrompf, Joseph Jewell and Leland Jewell; as well as great grandchildren, Jackson, Matthew, Derek, and Ashley; and a great-great grandchild, Harper. Helen is also survived by her brother, James (Nora) and sister, Vera Guthridge. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Dunlap, daughter Sharon, sisters, Betty Slattery and Mary Kear and a Grandson Andrew.   10. Marla McMahon age 88 (formerly of DuBois, PA) was born on April 28, 1932 in Boston, MA, daughter of William F. and Bernice Schneider and died on May 27, 2020 in Columbus, OH. As her father, Bill, was an executive with General Motors, the family first moved to Detroit, MI and then to DuBois, PA when Marla was in middle school. A 1950 graduate of DuBois High School, Marla went on to earn a B.A. in education from Allegheny College in 1953. Marla was married to James (Jim) R. McMahon, son of E.K. and Marcia McMahon of DuBois, PA on December 27, 1953. Marla and Jim spent most of their lives in Broadview Hts., OH, where Jim was an executive for IBM and Marla cared for their five children. Marla is survived by her children and their spouses: Marcia and Dennis Mastrodi, John and Lorraine, Jim and Menodora, Amy, and Mark and Karen McMahon, as well as six grandchildren: Lisa, David, Andrea, Rachel, Hannah and Scott, and two great-grandchildren: Nolan and Hayden. In addition, Marla is survived by two brothers-in-law and their spouses, as well as a sister-in-law: Lavina and Bill McMahon and Linda Schneider from DuBois, along with David and Karen McMahon from Rochester, NY. Marla is predeceased by her husband, Jim; brothers and sister-in-law, Bill, Glenna and John Schneider; along with her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Denny McMahon. Marla will be remembered for her kind heart, generous laugh, and thoughtful manner with each of her children, grandchildren, her friends and all who knew her. Marla was the quintessential mom; she liked nothing better than to be with her family, to hear a good story, to laugh, to visit her family in DuBois or watch the sunset on the porch of her Boynton Beach home where she retired with Jim, the love of her life. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 from 9:30 AM– 10:30 AM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   11. Elvera Grace Cataldi, age 88, of Drs Lane, Penfield, PA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her home. Born on December 23, 1931, in Cardiff, PA, she was the daughter of the late Enrico Luigi and Rose Josephine (Armanini) Segalla. She was a graduate of Bennett’s Valley High School Class of 1949. On July 8, 1950 she married her husband of 69 years, Dr. Francis C. Cataldi. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2019, and she has been lost without him. Elvera graduated from The Approved University of Beauty Culture in Indianapolis, IN, and was a self-employed beautician in the Valley for 50 years. She loved her customers, many of whom became like family. She had a green thumb, loved her flowers and could grow anything. She was hard-working and took great pride in a well-kept home. Elvera was known as “Vera” to family and friends and she could be counted on to cause or share a good laugh. Her daughters will miss her dearly, and her words of wisdom "in Italian" and attention to detail are with them constantly. She loved spending time with her family. Elvera is survived by her 3 daughters; Renee, Denise and Lisa, 1 brother Angelo (Joann) Segalla and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Marie (Francis) Lombardo & Inez (Carl) Salter and 1 brother Frank (Margaret) Segalla. Elvera was a loving Mother, devoted wife and good friend to many.   12. Kenneth W. DeBoer, Age 83 of Reynoldsville, PA died Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Falls Creek, PA. Born on August 10, 1936 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late William & Stella (Chase) DeBoer. On December 7, 2005, he married Karen R. Bloom DeBoer. She survives. He was a 1956 graduate of Brady High School. Ken served in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from Triangle Auto Springs after 36 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for Chris Federici Excavating. Ken loved to hunt and tinker around his house. He is survived by a son (Kenneth W. “Butch” DeBoer, Jr. & his wife Colleen of Roulette, PA), a grandson (Kenneth W. “Willy” DeBoer, III), a great granddaughter (Skylar DeBoer) and a brother (Thomas A. DeBoer & his wife Shirley of DuBois, PA). Ken was preceded in death by his brother (Jack DeBoer).   13. Priscilla J. Muth, age 67 of Reynoldsville, PA died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Latrobe, PA. Born on October 19, 1952, in Punxsutawney, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Edna (Bair) Lockard. On September 24, 1977 she married Charles Muth. He survives. She retired from DuBois Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in DuBois, enjoyed canning, camping and taking care of her farm animals. Priscilla is survived by her children;(Lisa Neiswonger & her husband Michael of Sykesville, PA, Laura Muth & her fiancé Bryan English of Clearfield, PA and Nathan Muth of Cary, NC), 2 brothers; (Dennis Lockard & his wife Barb and Delvin Lockard & his wife Nancy) and 4 grandchildren;(Tia, Christian, Carter and Breanna). She was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter (Emily Muth). There will be no public visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.   14. Jack S. Harris, age 89 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home. Born on February 19, 1931 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Robert and Edith (Harder) Harris. On April 18, 1952, he married Rose (Muggia) Harris. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2003. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He retired from the Laborer’s Local Union #156 of Construction Workers. He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the George G. Montgomery American Legion Post 17. He loved to bowl and loved spending time with all of his grandchildren. Jack is survived by 1 daughter (Joanne Harris of Tarpon Springs, FL), 2 sisters (Frances Robbins and Mary Ellen Federici both of DuBois, PA), 4 grandchildren; (Jennifer Formanek, Jaclyn Formanek, Katie Domitrovich and Alex McGeoch) 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.   15. Kevin D. Murray, age 64 of Reynoldsville, PA died Monday, May 18, 2020 at his home. Born on April 23, 1956 in Falls Creek, PA, he was the son of the late William C. and Audrey (Dixon) Murray. He was an over the road truck driver for many years and had previously worked for Falls Creek Borough and worked in the maintenance department for the Treasure Lake Property Association. Kevin was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Falls Creek Eagles. He enjoyed playing pool, hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends and family.   16. Daniel C. Lines, age 73 of Brockport, PA died Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born on March 4, 1947, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Norman “Clair” and Anna Mae (Naugle) Lines. On June 16, 1979 he married Bonnie (Sicheri) lines. She survives. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. Dan retired from Owens Illinois Brockway Plant #19 after 36 years of service. Previous to that, he had worked at V.T. Smith Dairy. He was a member of St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of Parson Marnati American Legion Post 95 where he was a proud member of their Honor Guard. He loved all sports and was an umpire and referee for 48 years. Dan was a very outgoing person that loved the outdoors and had a passion for playing and teaching chess. Dan is survived by his children; (Bruce Buganza of Elysburg, PA, Beverly Myrtle of DuBois, PA and Brian Buganza and his wife Jennifer of Brockway, PA), 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 sister (Patty Baughman and her husband Bob of St. Marys, PA), 1 sister-In-law (Joy Lines of Hattiesburg, MS) and several nieces and nephews.   17. Norman G. Rafferty, age 86 of DuBois, PA passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Christ The King Manor. He was born on September 5, 1933, to the late Matthew and Lenore (Shaw) Rafferty. He married Elizabeth Hoyt on April 4, 1959 at St. Bonaventure in Grampian, PA. She survives. After graduating Sandy High School in 1951, Norm enlisted in the United States Navy. He received the National Defense Service Medal and transferred to the United States Navy Reserve in 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1959. He graduated Clarion University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. His first teaching position was at the Sandy High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves again, in 1964 and graduated the University of Pennsylvania in 1965 with a Master of Science in Education degree. He taught physics, other sciences, and math in the DuBois Area School District until his retirement in 1998. He taught for one academic year at Penn State DuBois. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy Reserve in 1993, achieving rank ETCM (Senior Chief Electronics Technician). He received honors for “Outstanding Contributions to Naval Training” and was presented the First Annual Artificer Award in 1983. He taught RICA classes at St. Catherine in DuBois and catechism at St. Bonaventure in Grampian. He is remembered for selling tickets at school sporting events. He enjoyed this, especially after retirement, saying it enabled him to stay in contact with the kids and their parents. A loyal donator to the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, he reached the 40 plus gallon mark. He was a lifetime member of the Central PA Naval Enlisted Reserve Association, American Legion Post 17 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 813. Longtime residents of DuBois, Norm and Betty retired to Irishtown in Grampian. They enjoyed the scenery and wildlife that country living affords for many years. They traveled the contiguous United States, Canada and Alaska in their fifth-wheel trailer. Known to family and friends by his childhood nickname Punk, he was happiest with his family around the table and a plate of pasta at his home in Irishtown. Norm and Betty celebrated 61 years of marriage. They have four children: (Phillip Rafferty and his wife Teresa of Alaska, Nanette Ivoska and her husband Edward of DuBois, PA, Patricia Rafferty of New York and Christopher Rafferty and his wife Kristin of Colorado), five grandchildren;(Steven Rafferty, Brooke Feasel, Sara Nedley, Alex Ivoska and Ava Rafferty), three great-granddaughters; (Sophie Nedley, Nora and Mallory Feasel). Norm is also survived by a brother, Blair Rafferty of Nevada and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; (Mona Jean Rafferty and Beverly Slotta) and one brother (Jack Rafferty). Born on September 28, 1940, in DuBois, PA she was the daughter of the late Harold “Tip” and Arlene (Wigglesworth) Chelgren. She retired from Sensus Metering (formerly Rockwell International Manufacturing) after 26 years of service. Carole was a member of First United Methodist Church where she sung in the church choir. She enjoyed going to card club with her friends, loved to spend time with her family and especially lived for her grandchildren. She is survived by 1 son (Terry M. Born on March 21, 1928 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Vincenza (Alfonsa) Cicchetti. On September 10, 1955, she married Joseph “Bud” Schalk. He preceded her in death on March 18. 2004. Chick was a homemaker and had previously worked in the offices at Riverside Warehouse and McCrory 5 &10. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the bereavement committee, and was active in many church affairs. She loved to play cards with her friends in the card club, loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren. Chick is survived by a daughter (Linda A. Schalk) and a son (Joseph F. Schalk), both of DuBois, PA, a sister (Jean Costne of DuBois, PA), 3 grandchildren (Cody, Victoria, and Nicole Schalk), and several nieces and nephews.   20. On May 15th, 2020 Ronald Melfa lost his battle with cancer. He fought that terrible foe with dignity and grace. Despite long months of endless tests and treatment, he remained stoic and never lost his wicked sense of humor, his remarkable wit or his ability to charm all of the “babes” in the Hahne Cancer Center. In his 77 years, Ron enjoyed many friendships. His favorite times were the camping trips with his brothers-in-law Win and Marc. It was with great pleasure that he was able to introduce his son-in-law Brian to the wonders of a campfire. Ron was a man of many talents. His creativity was endless and spanned many art forms. He was a faithful husband and a loving father. The world was a better place because he was in it. He is survived by his wife Jo, daughter Lauren and her husband Brian, his sister Denise Childs (Marc), his “brother” Win Grymes and several nieces and nephews.   21. Alice Mae Muth, age 90 of Punxsutawney, PA died Thursday, May 14, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Mercer, PA. Born on June 15, 1929 in Sabula, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (Beer) Kilmer. On June 24, 1950, she married Harold D. Muth. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2018. Alice Mae was a bus driver for 32 years in our area. She was a member of the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ where she was very active in church affairs for many years. She was past president of the District 15 Sunday School Association. She enjoyed flower gardening and baking cookies and pies. She had the gift of hospitality. The family farm was always open to family and friends. She was a 1943 Graduate of Sandy High School. On July 31, 1944 she married Jess E. Rishell. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2010. Ruth was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she was a member of Young at Heart. Ruth was active with the Methodist Youth Fellowship and with both Friendship and Memory Circle. She liked doing needlepoint, but above all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
