  1. Susan N. Shofestall, age 83 of Falls Creek, PA, died Sunday, February 9, 2020 at her home. Born on October 5, 1936 in Huntingdon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Grace (Stapleton) Shontz. On October 24, 1958 she married William "Ray" Shofestall. He survives. Susan retired from Owens Brockway after 22 years of service. Previous to that she had worked at the DuBois Hospital. She was member of Tri County Church and enjoyed reading. She is survived by 1 son (Rod Shofestall & his wife Laura of Falls Creek, PA), 1 granddaughter (Shanna Lingle), 6 grandsons and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter Diann"DeeDee" Ross and 2 brothers John and William Shontz. There will be no public visitation and private services will be held at a later date.   2. Josephine P. Misiewicz, Age 90 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her home. Born on March 19, 1929 in Tyler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter & Eva (Gusherowski) Seduski. On August 21, 1954, she married her husband of 65 years, Edward Misiewicz. He survives. Josephine retired from the Jackson China Company and previous to that had worked at B. F. Goodrich in DuBois. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Josephine is survived by 5 children (Helen Sutton & her husband Paul of Pittsburgh, PA; Mary Jo Horgan & her husband Marty of Pittsburgh, PA; Jeanne Kolash & her husband Michael of DuBois, PA; Sharon Fremer & her husband Mark of Alpharetta, GA; and Michael Misiewicz of DuBois, PA), 11 Grandchildren (Jennifer, Steven, Rachel, & Kevin Sutton; Kaylin & Sean Horgan; Michael Kolash (Krystle), Michelle Hemke & husband Travis; Abigail & Sophie Fremer; and Michael B. Misiewicz), 3 great grandchildren (Layne & Launa Hemke; and Allie Kolash); and 1 sister (Mary Snedden of Erie, PA). She was preceded in death by her sister (Rosella Gieza) and brother (Thomas Seduski). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 PM.   3. John A. Saunders, age 77 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on June 28, 1942, in Parma, Missouri, he was the son of the late Claude Saunders and Della Mae (Whitchurch) Jewell Saunders Clark. On June 20, 1965 he married Nell A. (Bailey) Saunders. She survives. John retired from Fairman Drilling and previous to that he had worked at Armagost Steel and as a self-employed over the road truck driver. He was a member of the Brockway Rifle Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling back home to Missouri. John is survived by his children; (Amanda D. Saunders of Union, SC, John D. Saunders of DuBois, PA and Shane A. Saunders of Phoenix, AZ), 1 brother (Don Jewell of Falls Creek, PA and 1 sister Diane Knarr & her husband Denny of Troutville, PA), 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters;(Pat Saunders, Wilma Rio, June Randolph and Imogene Rochen) 4 brothers; (Bob Saunders, Ed Saunders, Steve Clark and William Jewell) and step father (Harry Clark).   4. Mary Anne Masisak, Age 69 of Woodmere, New York died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at South Nassau Hospital in Rockville Centre, New York. Born in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Vina (Patt) Masisak. She was 1968 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic High School and graduated from Robert Morris University in 1973. Mary Anne was an office manager at Aladdin Finishing Company in New York for 25 years retiring in 2018. She loved visiting family and friends and enjoyed going to Long Beach, New York. Mary Anne is survived by 1 sister, Donna Masisak of Sykesville, PA; her partner of forty years Cynthia Allin of Woodmere, New York; an uncle, numerous aunts, and many cousins. A visitation was held at the Perry Funeral Home in Lynbrook, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Barron as celebrant.   5. Georgianna E. Lockitski, age 75 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, January 30, 2020 at her home. Born on April 29, 1944 in DuBois, PA she was the daughter of the late Julian and Grace (Haag) Baummer. On January 16, 1980, she married Raymond L. Lockitski. He survives. Georgianna worked as a registered nurse at the DuBois Regional Medial Center for 40 years. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, enjoyed reading and playing the slots on her iPad. She also loved watching Jeopardy and going to the flea market. She is survived by her step-son (Paul Lockitski of DuBois, PA), 1 brother (Julian Baummer & his wife Amy of DuBois, PA) and 4 grandchildren; (Jessie & Taylor Lockitski and Madison & Aaron Nasuti).   6. Norma Jean Connor, age 79 of DuBois died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on January 21, 1941 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Virginia D. (Nolder) Braund. She was the manager & seamstress of Paris Cleaners on West Long Avenue in DuBois for 26 years. Previous to that, she had worked at the DuBois Hospital and in the cafeteria of both Wasson & Juniata Elementary Schools. She had previously served on the auxiliaries of the Goodwill Hose Company, the DuBois Panther Midget Football team and the Gateway Quarter Midgets. She was a member of the PTA at the former South Avenue & Hubert Street schools and later was a teacher's aide at Wasson Elementary. She was a member of the Downtown Business Association where she served as the Secretary / Treasurer and was a member of the Car Show committee. She had also served as the Chairman of the Board and was a volunteer for the domestic violence group HOPE. Norma is survived by five children; (Donnie Connor & his wife Sherry of Reynoldsville, PA, Scott "Buzz" Connor & his wife Rhonda of DuBois, PA, Fred Connor & his wife Virginia of Brockway, PA, Edward Connor & his wife Dawn of DuBois, PA and Robert Connor & his wife Kristy of DuBois, PA), 2 sisters; (Bonnie Smith & her husband Tom and Debbie Braund both of DuBois, PA) and a brother (Jim Braund and his wife Susan of St. Augustine, Florida), 4 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren). She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Cathy Connor, sister Sandra Miller and a step granddaughter.   7. Rosalie M. Bloom, age 79 of Brookville, PA, formerly of Rockton, PA, died Sunday, January 26, 2020 at McKinley Health Center. Born on October 1, 1940, in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph R. and Dorothy A. (Dale) Lowell. Rosalie was veteran of the United States Army. She was a retired registered nurse and had worked at both DuBois Regional Medical Center and Clearfield Hospital and was a member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association where she was very involved in their activities. She was also a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, a hospice volunteer for WRC Senior Services In Home Solutions and was associated with the Roseville Independent Chapel in Brookville, PA. She is survived by 1 son Neil E. Bloom of Brockway, PA, 1 sister (Loretta Ann Butler of DuBois, PA), 1 brother (James Lowell of Camp Hill, PA), 4 grandchildren;(Neil C. Bloom & Andrea E. Bloom, Kyle Shreck & Michaela Painter) and 2 great grandchildren;(Octavio & Zaniyah Bloom). She was preceded in death by her husbands; (George Bloom & Howard Bloom), 1 daughter (Brenda Shreck) and 1 sister in law (Nancy Cochran). There will be no public visitation.   8. Nancy E. Young, age 79 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Nelson's Golden Years. Born on September 21, 1940 in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late William "Harvey" and Virginia (Abers) Johnson. On December 30, 1967 she married Ronald V. Young. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2019. Nancy was a 911 dispatcher in Jamestown, NY for 18 years. She had also worked at Wal Mart and Perkins in DuBois. She was a member of the Penfield Free Methodist Church where she had served as treasurer, was a volunteer at Lamb's Harvest Food Bank and was very active in Babe Ruth Youth Baseball in New York. Nancy is survived by her son David Allen Young & his wife Heather of Falconer, NY, 2 grandchildren; (Andrew J. Falconer and Rebecca Lynn (Matthew) Beatty). She was preceded in death by 1 daughter (Eva M. Young), 1 brother (William "Gail" Johnson), 1 sister (Joan Virginia Tadt) and an infant son. There will be no public visitation.   9. Anthony J. "Tony" Petraitis, age 69 of Sykesville, PA died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the DuBois Village. Born on October 21, 1950 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony V. and Jennie I. (Valentine) Petraitis. He was a 1968 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic High School. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor and a master's degree. He also received a second master's degree from American University. Tony was a Certified Public Accountant for many years. He was the owner of Philadelphia Handle Company in Vorrhess, NJ. He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Pittsburgh. Tony had a great love for his family, especially his brothers, his cousins, nieces and nephews. Tony is survived by 2 brothers; (James Petraitis of Pittsburgh, PA and Thomas Petraitis and his wife Dee of DuBois, PA) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 3PM - 6PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   10. Dorothy J. "Dot" Wick, age 85 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home. Born on March 9, 1934 in Everett, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Carlon W. Wheeler and Dorothy J. (Paine) Wheeler Holmander. On October 15, 1955 she married Frank H. Wick. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2006. Dot retired from the Brockway Area School District where she taught for 18 years. She also taught for 5 years at a private kindergarten in Melrose, MA. She was a member of St. Phillips United Methodist Church in Big Run, PA, a past member of the Gateway Squares and a member of Pennsylvania State Education Association. She traveled by motorcycles, loved her dogs, putting together puzzles, knitting and working in her garden. She loved to attend craft shows with her business DJ Crafts. Dot is survived by her son Stephen Wick and his wife Kerry of DuBois, PA, 4 half-brothers: (Warren Holmander of Massachsetts, David Holmander of New Hampshire, Rudy Holmander of Maine and Bill Wheeler of Arkansas), 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 1 grandaughter and a sister Marilyn Woodside. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 2 - 4PM & 6 - 8PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   11. David J. Markievich, age 71, of Hollidaysburg, PA formerly of DuBois, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in Hollidaysburg, PA. Born on August 4, 1948 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Mary M. (Galio) Markievich. On June 16, 1980 he married Lynn (Amilkavich) Markievich. She survives. Dave loved his country and was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a paratrooper in the Vietnam War. Known to some as "Mad Man", he was an avid outdoorsman & fisherman & knew all the best spots to fish. He loved his girls & his grandkids with all of his heart & always had a smile on his face in their presence. He had a love for animals, especially dogs & knew that all his beloved best dogs would be waiting for him in Heaven. He had a love for music & played the guitar like it was nobody's business. He was a contractor by trade in his younger years and worked in the gas and oil field. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He will be sadly missed, but is at peace. Surviving loving members of his family include his children; (Kristen Schultz of Bellefonte, PA, Kami Dubiel & her husband Michael of Mercer, PA, Dawn Markievich & Nate Grimm of Sykesville, PA , Molly Markievich of DuBois, PA and Stacy Carmella Green & her husband Michael of Florida), 1 brother (Mark Markievich & his wife Karen of Falls Creek, PA) and 10 grandchildren; (Kylie Schultz, Koby and Peyton Grimm, Regan, Ryan & Jacob Dubiel, Madden & Rowen Kitchen and Gregory and Zachary Wilhelm).   12. Brenda Kohler Robertson, age 63 of DuBois, PA, formerly of Williamsburg, VA, died Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Christ The King Manor. Born on August 22, 1956, in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Flores "Clay" and Donna (Raybuck) Kohler. She was a volunteer at Christ The King Manor and St. Michaels Terrace, was a member of the DuBois VFW, DuBois American Legion and the Pulaski Club and was active with many cancer groups. She retired as a Sales Manager from Toyota in Newport News, VA in 2012. Brenda is survived by 1 son (Michael Nestlerode & his wife Heather of Homer City, PA) , 2 daughters; (Megan Schaberl of Williamsburg, VA and Marissa DeClouette & her husband Nick of Lafayette, LA), 4 grandchildren; (Tyler, Gregory, Kristina and Alex), 3 sisters; (Molly Wilson of DuBois, PA, Cindy Neidrick & her husband Bill of DuBois, PA of, DuBois, PA and Lori Seethaler & her husband Ray of Phoenix, AZ) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son. There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Roger McGary officiating. Born on May 7, 1987 in Gulfport, MS, he was the son of Mark Walsh of DuBois, PA and Michelle (Miley) Walsh of Biloxi, MS. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Damon is survived by 3 daughters; (Sajak Walsh, Indica Snyder & Emma Lou Nearwood), 4 brothers; (William Walsh, Shane Claus, Michael Marnati and Nicholas Ferari) and 1 sister: (Summer Ashley Wagner).   14. Margaret C."Marge" Carlson, age 93 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on April 1, 1926, in New Kensington, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Stefura) Duffalo. On August 23, 1947 she married Russell R. Carlson. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2000. She retired from the DuBois Regional Medical Center in the housekeeping department after many years of service. Marge was member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in DuBois. She enjoyed getting up every morning and spending time with her prayer book. She also enjoyed watching mass on television and then watching her game shows and soap operas the rest of the day. Most of all she loved being with her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's many activities. She is survived by her children; (Shirley L. Miller and Russ M. Carlson & his wife Christine both of DuBois, PA), 1 brother (James Duffalo of Texas), 3 grandchildren; (Michael and Lauren Carlson and Becky Paulinellie) and 3 great grandchildren; (Bryson, Braden and Emma Paulinellie). Marge was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 2 - 4 PM and 6 -8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 10 AM from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Father Matias Quimno as celebrant. James was born February 14, 1960 in Greensburg, Pa. The son of the late James and Marilyn Tressler. He loved watching football, being outdoors, hunting, and fishing with his grandchildren. He was known for helping others and lighting up any room with his vivacious personality. He worked as a supervisor at Eagle Railcar Services, formerly Rescar, for over 35 years. Staff knew James as 'Captain'; a mentor, but more so a friend, willing to give the shirt off his back if necessary. He spent his free time fixing things, mowing the grass, or spending time with his family. James served in the United States Navy as a Boatswain Mate on the USS Kalamazoo. He was awarded a Navy Expeditionary Medal on October 13, 1980. James is survived by his wife, Suzanne of 34 years, three daughters, Melanie (Joseph) McCabe of Camas, Wash., Heather (Stephen) Cherry of Pittsburgh, Pa., Miranda Tressler of Pittsburgh, Pa., two brothers Dr. Aaron (Gabrielle) Tressler of New Alexandria, Pa., Ryan (Salise) Tressler of Greensburg, Pa., four grandchildren, six nieces, four nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Campfield, sister, Susan Mayer, and grandson, Grady Cherry. James was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   16. Donald Gary Kendall, age 64 of Treasure Lake died Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at his home. Born on November 16, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lowell & Mildred (Christen) Kendall. On March 2, 2004, he married Patricia (Schaffer) Kendall. She survives. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved football and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Above all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Donald is survived by his step children (Ashleigh Carlson of Brockway, PA and Clark Bowser of DuBois, PA), his twin brother (CJ Kendall of Cleveland, OH) and 2 grandchildren (Addison & Megan Carlson).   17. Pauline B. Foltz, age 74 of Reynoldsville, PA died Monday, December 30, 2019 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on November 2, 1945 in Sagamore, PA, she was the daughter of the late Irvine & Marjorie (Swanson) Leksell. On April 8, 1967, she married her husband of 52 years, Earl R. Foltz. He survives. Pauline was a member of the Auxiliary of the McMullen Snyder Post 392 American Legion in Reynoldsville and was a member of the Reynoldsville Eagles Aerie 540. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and going to the casino. She was also an avid reader. Pauline is survived by a daughter (Donna Fye & her husband Patrick of Reynoldsville, PA), a son (James Foltz of Reynoldsville, PA), 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.   18. Mary Anne Betton Winkelman, age 74 of DuBois, PA, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Christ The King Manor. Born on August 7, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Dougherty) Challingsworth. She was married to Howard "Pete" Winkelman. He preceded her in death. Mary Anne was an avid animal lover, especially her own horses, dogs and cats. She retired from Owens Brockway Glass as a packer after 32 years of service. Born on April 29, 1961, in Brookville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold M. and Sally P. (Hubbs) Nelson. She was engaged to be married to Jeffrey W. Hetrick. He survives. Kris worked at Riverside / Bi-Lo for 23 years. She had also worked at Kmart in DuBois until its closing. She loved to crochet, loved to watch Hallmark movies and most of all, she loved her family.   20. Loretta M (Bundy, Guthrie) Granger went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 25, 2019. Her life began on a little farm in Sabula, PA on June 20, 1927. Her journey was to span over 92 years. Along this journey Loretta's life had a profound impact on the lives of many people. From the very youngest to the oldest all felt the loving touch of a gentle and caring heart. Loretta was the third of eight children born to Merritt and Susie (Spicher) Bundy. The Christian values of love of God and family, hard work and serving others were deeply instilled and lasted a lifetime. Her educational journey was to begin in a one room schoolhouse on Boone Mountain and culminated with her earning an LPN certificate at the age of 53. Loretta was married to the late Howard Guthrie for 35 years. They had two children. Susan (Guthrie) Butler and Norman Guthrie. She was then married to Charles Granger who preceded her in death. Over the years she was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in DuBois, PA during WWII, WT Grant's and Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA. Along with Loretta's love of family was her love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved to tell of her life changing experience of knowing Jesus personally. She participated in the founding of Tri-County Church and in the beginning, it met in her living room. For the past number of years, she was an active member of Treasure Lake Church. She was known by many as a 'prayer warrior' and was an active participant in numerous Bible studies. She started each day with reading her Bible and praying. Her life journey ended at the DuBois Nursing Home after a 14-month residency. The staff there provided kind and loving care. This was not the end however, of Loretta Granger's journey. This was only the beginning! Today she is in the very presence of her Lord and there she will be for eternity. There is nothing that would please her more than one day to meet her loved ones in Heaven. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Merritt and Susie Bundy, brothers Cecil, Lewis, Wesley (Marc) and sisters Mabel Carlson, Mary Jane Showers and brother-in-law Elwood Carlson. Loretta is survived by her two children Susan (Guthrie) Butler (Tom) of Urbana, OH, Norman Guthrie (Kathy) of DuBois, brother Allen Bundy (Bernice) of DuBois, Jessie Patchell (Don) of Reynoldsville, sisters-in-law Patty Bundy of DuBois, Barb Kuhn of Binghamton, NY and Debbie Bundy of North Port, FL, and brother-in-law Louie Showers of Goshen, IN. Born on September 21, 1933 in Coal Hollow, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter & Eva Calhoun. On July 12, 1952, she married her husband of 67 years, Paul E. Butters. He survives. Donna was a homemaker & had worked at Brockway Glass. She was a member of the Lanes Mills United Methodist Church, the Falls Creek Eagles Auxiliary, and loved to travel, shop & make baby quilts.   22. Lee R. Myers, age 79 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on May 31, 1940, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur R. and Helen M. (Steponick) Myers. On April 19, 1958 he married his wife of 61 years, Nancy Irene (Kessler) Myers. She survives. Lee retired from the Riverside Perishable Distribution Center as a produce inspector after many years of service. He began at age 16 as a packer and spent the rest of his career in the produce department of various Riverside stores in DuBois, St. Marys and Indiana. After retirement, he worked at the DuBois YMCA for over 10 years. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He loved to do woodworking in his basement, enjoyed going to the YMCA, was an avid Penn State wrestling fan and enjoyed golfing. Born on June 8, 1961 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde & Audrey (Lyons) Thomas. On May 23, 1981 he married Patricia (Kaizer) Thomas. She survives. Rodger worked in the Heating, Cooling & Refrigeration Industry for the last 20 years. He was the manager of Makdad Industrial Supply Company and had previously worked for Keystone Refrigeration. He also had a 20-year career working for Coca Cola in DuBois, PA. Rodger loved motorcycles and the 1975 Pontiac Firebird. Above all, he loved being with his family.   24. Rodger Lee Muth, age 65 of Luthersburg, PA died Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born on January 8, 1954, in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde and Dorothy (Beatty) Muth. He was married on August 18, 1973 to Sharon (Shaffer) Muth. She survives. Rodger worked at Fairman Drilling Company from 1974 until he became a self- employed tractor trailer driver in 1988. He was a volunteer fireman for Brady Township for many years. He enjoyed hunting, camping with friends, elk watching and spending time with family. He is survived by his children, Timothy (Lisa) Muth of Falls Creek, PA, Thomas (Ashli) Muth of Midland, TX and Mrs. Terry (Tammy) Bortz of Mingo Junction, OH. He is also survived by 4 brothers Earl, Ronald, Charles and Edward and 4 sisters Florence, Martha, Carol and Mary. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.   25. Lillian Frances Jansen, 95, died Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Christ The King Manor in DuBois, PA. Frances was born in Junction City, Kansas, on September 30, 1924, the daughter of Frank A. Walker and Lillian A. West Walker. She graduated from White City High School in 1942 and moved to Washington, DC, with her best friend in 1943 to work for the Coast Guard during WWII. Her soon-to-be husband, John J. Jansen, came home from the Pacific for Christmas and they were married in Fort Riley, Kansas, on January 5, 1946. He predeceased her in 1997. They had four children, all surviving. A daughter, Carol Mortland and husband Robert of Reynoldsville, PA, and three sons: Robert of College Park, MD, David and wife Laura of Madison, WI, and Eric and wife Hana of Millbrae, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Erika of Sacramento, CA, and Mark of Cupertino, CA. She was predeceased by her sister, Winifred Copedge. Frances was active in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a school room mother while her children were growing up. Always a woman of faith, she was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bartholomew Church in Bethesda, MD, and The Church of the Resurrection in Silver Spring, MD. She was also involved with the Christ Child Society in Georgetown, MD, and a lifetime member of Suburban Hospital Auxiliary in Bethesda, MD. The Washington, DC, suburbs were home for most of her adult life except for fifteen months when John's position with Northup-Page took them to Iran in the 1970s. She moved five years ago from Silver Spring, MD, to DuBois to be near her daughter. All services are private and will be held at the convenience of her family who will miss her and thought for sure she would live longer than her mother who died at 97.
