  1. Connie A. Spryszak, age 93 of DuBois, PA, formerly of Falls Creek, PA, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Christ The King Manor. Born on September 19, 1926, in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Marks. On February 9, 1946, she married John V. Spryszak. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2006. Connie retired from the Jackson China Company in Falls Creek, PA after many years of service. She was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, the Polish Citizens Club and Falls Creek Eagles Aerie 965. She loved to go to the movies on Sunday afternoons and most of all, she loved her family. Connie is survived by her daughter in law Linda Spryszak of Falls Creek, PA, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by a son (John T. Spryszak), 2 sisters; (Olga Wildauer and Madelyn Jakubowski) and 1 brother (Alexander Marks). There will be no public visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.   2. Alverta McIntosh, Age 96 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Nelson's Golden Years. Born on June 30, 1923 in Punxsutawney, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Elva Etta Van Horn Bedell. On August 29, 1940, she married her husband of 65 years., Robert J. McIntosh. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2005. Alverta was a homemaker and attended the Tri County Church. She was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and Breast Cancer Awareness. She, along with her husband enjoyed golfing, skiing, and snowmobiling and was also an accomplished artist and seamstress. Alverta is survived by her 2 daughters (Roberta J. Owen & her husband Fred of Mechanicsburg, PA and Tara L.McClure of DuBois, PA ) a brother (Bud Bedell of Florida) 5 grandchildren (Heather Martin, Bryan Owen, Kyle & Chad, and Katelyn McClure) and 8 great grandchildren (Abby, Alec, & Isabelle Martin, Caroline, Eli, & Kate Owen, and Liam & Ellie McClure). She was preceded in death by her son (Paul E. McIntosh), 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. There will be no public visitation. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. from the Tri County Church with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.   3. Margaret Alice "Peg" Stull, age 95, died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 in Hollywood, SC. Born in Luthersburg, PA on June 5, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hazel Wachob. She married John R. Stull of Chestnut Grove, PA in 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1994. Peg was an avid golfer and set course records in Pennsylvania and Florida. She was a club champion many times and the Johnstown, PA city champion several times. Her other passion was baseball, and she watched every Tampa Bay Rays game from April to October. She is survived by her brother, Lester Wachob of Luthersburg, PA, two children: Jill & her husband John Crocker of Hollywood, SC and Jan & her husband Edward Obreza of Boulder, CO, 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers (Lynn, Frederick, James and Charles) and 2 sisters (Dolores and Annabelle), all of whom she dearly loved. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.   4. MaryJane Volosky, age 74, of Sabula, died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at her residence. She was born on March 27, 1945, in Abington, MA a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Elizabeth (Donovan) Keenan. Mary Jane is survived by her husband Ferdinand "Fred" Volosky of Sabula. They were married on Nov. 15, 1969 in Abington, MA. She was a Licensed Practical Nursed and retired from the DuBois Area School District Nursing Department at the Juniata Elementary School. Previous to that she worked for DRMC Home Health and the maternity ward. MaryJane was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church, and a life member the North Point Volunteer Fire Company She was extremely proud of both of her children and that her son, Michael, retired from the U.S. Airforce with 20 years of service. She is survived by her sons, Michael F. Volosky and Mark G. Volosky and his wife Brittany all of Sabula. Four grandchildren; Zachary J. Volosky, Jillian Grace, and Dominic and Owen Volosky. Three brothers survive; Neil Keenan and his wife Sue, Jack Keenan and Peter Keenan and his husband Mark, and many beloved nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, MaryJane was preceded in death by her brother Mark Keenan and a sister Maureen Kittleson. Friends will be received on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019 from 5-8 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.   5. Gordon E. Searer, age 98 of DuBois, PA went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on September 30, 1921 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late Emory A. and Rosetta A. (Campbell) Searer. On October 5, 1942 he married Violet (Gross) Searer. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2006. He worked as a wholesale sales representative for Pennsupreme Dairy of Harrisburg, PA. Gordon was a member of the Temple Baptist Church, studied the Bible and spent much time in prayer. He loved spending time with his family and loved cars and enjoyed working on them. Gordon is survived by his daughters: (Norma Gebhart & her husband Paul of Sunbury, PA and Connie Snyder & her husband Charles of DuBois, PA), 1 brother (Arthur Searer of NY), 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great- great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers; (Emory M., Edward C., Glenn O., Dale P., Donald H. and Lyle Searer), sisters; (Mildred Goss, Lois Walter, Alice Ritzman, Lillian Olson, and Winifred Carlson).   6. Marilyn I. Zimmerman, age 81 of Sykesville, PA died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Nelson's Golden Years. Born on March 1, 1938, in Henderson Township, she was the daughter of the late Carl J. and Mary (Kennis) Zimmerman. On May 28, 1960, she married her husband of 59 years, James D. Zimmerman. He survives. Marilyn retired from the DuBois Regional Medical Center after 31 years of service as a registered nurse. She was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church where she served as Recording Secretary for 65 years. She very active and a founding member of the former Jefferson County Ambulance Association and the Sykesville Ambulance Association. Marilyn is survived by her children; (Jann Zimmerman of DuBois, PA, Jill Yamrick & her husband Ronald "Yum", Mark Zimmerman & his wife Colleen and Mack Zimmerman & his wife Gina, all of Sykesville, PA), 1 brother(Paul Zimmerman & his wife Debbie of Punxsutawney, PA) and 1 sister (Joanne Nemeth & her husband John of Sykesville, PA), 7 grandchildren; (Kristine Murone & her husband Nick; Kevin Yamrick & his wife Lauren, Michael Yamrick, Bret Zimmerman & his wife Lindsey, Dylan Zimmerman & his wife Shelbie, and Jendi and Alexis Zimmerman), 3 great grandchildren; (Olivia, Natalie & Rylie).   7. Willard C. Dunlap, age 91 of DuBois, PA died, Monday, November 25, 2019 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on May 8, 1928, in Brockway, PA, he was the son of the late Plum E. and Annabelle (Pierce) Dunlap. On June 14, 1958 he married his wife of 61 years, Ruth A. McCartney Dunlap in Lynwood, CA. She survives. Willard was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17 and traveled throughout the world. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an Airframe & Engine Mechanic for Western/Delta Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport. Willard is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers; (Robert & Lester Dunlap) sisters; (Adeline DiPillo, Dorthalene Snedden and June Sturniolo). Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 9 AM - 11 AM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.   8. Regina M. Stoyek, age 103, of Evergreen Street, DuBois, PA died on November 23, 2019 at Nelson’s Golden Years. Born in Clymer, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Susanna (Korman) Madison. She was married to Joseph L. Stoyek for 21 years and he preceded her in death in December of 1973. Regina was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary-Infant of Prague Society. She was a member of the former Home Camp and Hickory Granges. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, traveling, attending musical and theatrical stage productions and socializing with her friends over a good cup of coffee. She worked as a maid/cook, telephone operator, store clerk, secretary, seamstress and sewing teacher and volunteered at the local food bank. She visited numerous US states and foreign countries on three continents including The Holy Land and The Vatican. She is survived by three children: Perry (Jill) of DuBois, Terry (Patricia) of Prattville, AL, and Susan (Tim Dieringer) of Loudon, TN, a sister, Ethel Rohrer of Chambersburg, PA, two grandchildren, Ryan and Evan Stoyek, of DuBois and one step-granddaughter, Stacy (Michael) Lofton of Florence, MT. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, William, Gerald and Edward Madison. Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 1040: a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed from St. Michael at 10:40 a.m. Immediately following the rosary, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.   10. Rodney Dale Park, age 64 of Penfield, PA passed away on November 19, 2019 at home. Born on April 2, 1955 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Chester and Iva (Fulton) Park. Rod was married to Marcia Heberling Park. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1999. He worked as a Union laborer. He loved going to dirt track races, and helping and watching his nephews on the racecars. He is survived by a daughter, Cassandra (David) Shaposka, of Bossier City, LA; 3 grandsons, Aiden, Noah, and Lucas Shaposka; a brother LeRoy (Sheila) Park of Penfield, three sisters, Esther (Charles) Duttry of Penfield, Mary Ann (George) Kutskel of DuBois, and Carol (Steve) Czekai of Penfield. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. In addition to his parents and wife Rod was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Harry Park and Chester Park and an infant sister. Sandy and Helen L. (Kness) Sandy. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives and lives in DuBois, PA. She worked for many years at the JC Penney Company in the DuBois Mall. Loretta is survived by one brother (Frank E. Sandy & his wife Mary of DuBois, PA) and one niece (Denise Sandy of DuBois, PA). There will be no public visitation. On November 9, 1968 he married his wife of 51 years, Patricia "Pat" (Bodnar) Flick. She survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army.   13. Cheryl K. Caliari, Age 63 of Penfield, PA died Saturday, November 16, 2019 at her home. Born on September 28, 1956 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Irvin L. & Kathleen J. "Kay" (Harvey) Caliari. She was the owner and operator of Paws and Claws in Penfield for many years. She also owned and operated Cheryl K. Caliari Notary Public. Cheryl loved animals and was actively involved with animal rescue. She also loved to farm and go to the casino. Cheryl is survived by 2 sisters (Debbie Bricen & her husband Bill of Penfield, PA and Barb Himes of Penfield, PA) a brother (Ken Caliari & his wife Desiree of DuBois, PA) 2 nephews (Scotty & Jason Bricen) and numerous great nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece (JoAnn Caliari).   14. Roseann Anderson, age 75 of DuBois, PA died Friday, November 15, 2019 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on May 19, 1944 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Darl and Leona (Fairman) Ferguson, Sr. On April 3, 1969 she married James I. Anderson. He survives. Roseann was a bank teller at S&T Bank for over 25 years until her retirement and along with her husband was the owner/operator of Whispering Pines Kennels. After retirement, she worked at the service desk at Giant Eagle She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved to sew, garden, cook, bake and enjoyed being the hostess of family picnics and parties. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and books. Roseann is survived by her children; (Thomas Anderson & his wife Gayle of Rockton, PA, Richard Anderson & his wife Barb of Brockway, PA and Sue Anderson and her companion John Spellen of DuBois, PA), brothers; (Darl Ferguson, Jr. of DuBois, PA and John Ferguson & his wife Colleen of Gillette,WY), 7 grandchildren; (Danielle, TJ & wife Rachelle, Nicholas, Cassie & fiancé Jacob and Clay Anderson and Kierstie & Cheyanne Lantz).   15. Mary JoAnn Daly, 86 of Rockton, passed away on November 15, 2019 at Christ The King Manor. Born on April 19, 1933, in Brady Township, she was one of nine children of the late Lawrence O. (Sol) and Iona C. (Hoover) Shaffer. In 1955, she married Francis A. (Red) Daly. They divorced in 1985 and he died in 2000. She was a 1951 graduate of DuBois High School. She was a homemaker and also worked for Brockway Glass for 15 years She is survived by two sons, Kevin Daly (Linda) and Dr. Shawn Daly, both of Rockton, two grandchildren, C. J. Daly and Amanda Wallace and one great-grandchild, Phillip Wallace. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Shaffer (Blaine) of Rockton and Karen Snyder (Robert) of North Tonawanda, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Donna Jean Shaffer, sisters Lorraine Snyder, Violet Kozdron, and Jane Blackburn and brothers Vernon and Larry Shaffer. As per her request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockton with Pastor Robert Way officiating.   16. John "Chum" Furman Marshall, age 92, of South Eight Street, formerly of Patterson Avenue, DuBois, PA died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on August 5, 1927, in Rathmel, PA, he was the son of the late Jay and Gladys (Dean) Marshall. He was a 1945 graduate of DuBois High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy having served during World War II. On October 5, 1947, he married Hannah (Ball) Marshall his high school sweetheart. He was a devoted husband to his wife Hannah whom he visited faithfully for over nine years at the DuBois Nursing Home where she is a resident. John retired from the J.C. Penney Company after 39 years of service as fixture foreman for new and remodeled stores throughout the New England and Mid-Atlantic states. He loved carpentry, his garden, and taking long walks. Most of all, his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His legacy was to instill wonderful lasting memories with them. He formerly attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in DuBois, and weekly Sunday church services at the DuBois Nursing Home. John is survived by his daughter, Anelia Lucas and her husband Ron of Treasure Lake. Known as Grandpa Chum, he was the adored Grandfather to John Yount and his wife Kristie of DuBois, PA and Dr. Kristin Horvath and her husband Christopher of Mars, PA. A very special Great- grandfather to Ian Yount of Denver, CO, Mason Yount of Indianapolis, IN, Christian Yount of DuBois, PA and Madeleine and Nolan Horvath of Mars, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, Fred "Buck" and Rev. Dean Marshall; and 6 sisters, infants Gladys & Geraldine Marshall; Gwendolyn Timblin; June Himes; Elizabeth Bench; & Julia Bell Mohney. The family would like to thank the DuBois Village and the DuBois Nursing Home for the wonderful care and love given to Mr. Marshall. All who knew him were touched by his kindness, wisdom, perseverance and sense of humor. He was respected and loved by many and will be greatly missed.   17. James D. Duttry, age 83 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his home. Born on October 15, 1936 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Stephen and Rhoda (Edinger) Duttry. On April 2, 1960 he married his wife of 59 years, Janet (Miles) Duttry. She survives. He retired from Invensys (formerly Rockwell International Manufacturing) after 40 years of service. Jim was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in DuBois, PA and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time at camp, and spending time with his family. It is with great sadness that the Monahan family announces the passing of Patrick Terry Monahan, age 71, on November 13, 2019 after prolonged illnesses caused by Agent Orange exposure during his service in the Vietnam War. Terry was born on May 2, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA to Mary Eva McGinley and Daniel Emmett Monahan. He grew up in DuBois, PA and graduated from the DuBois Area Senior High School in 1966. While attending Penn State he chose to honor his country and proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam. Following his tour of duty, he attended DuBois Business College under the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in accounting. He was employed as an accountant in both the retail and hotel industries. Terry was happily married to his wife Penny for 49 years and was a devoted father to their son Michael. He not only loved music, chess and all sports, especially the Steelers, he also loved spending time with his brothers, Tom and Dan, his many cousins, In-laws, nieces and nephews. He was known by his friends and family as a gentle man who loved his family and many pets. Terry is survived by his wife, Marion "Penny" (Matthews) Monahan of Conneaut Lake, PA, brothers Daniel and his wife Cathy Monahan of Kannapolis, NC, and Thomas and his wife Dawnene Monahan of Rockton, PA. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael Patrick Monahan, his parents Mary and Daniel Monahan, Sr., his wife's parents Marion and James Matthews and his brother-in-law Mark Zickefoose.   19. David L. Larkin, age 63 of Falls Creek, PA died Monday, November 4, 2019 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on June 19, 1956 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Leonard J. and Geraldine F. (Olchesky) Larkin. They survive and live in Falls Creek, PA. On June 15, 1990 he married Cheryl (Caliguire) Larkin. She survives. He worked as a plumbing pro for Lowe's Home Improvement in DuBois and prior to that Dave worked in the family business, the John T. Larkin Company for 33 years. He was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church. Dave was actively involved in the DuBois Soccer Association and was a PIAA Soccer Official. He had worked Bingo at the DuBois Area Catholic School for many years, and was active in many social clubs in the DuBois area. Born on July 10, 1927, in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Radgekenis) Rasavage. On April 10, 1948, she married James A. "Slats" Carns. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1988. Marge worked for Clyde Ferraro and Company for many years. She was a 1944 graduate of DuBois High School and was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in DuBois, PA where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Joseph. She was a former member of the Lithuanian Independence Club and the Knights of Lithuania.   23. Theodore Dimitri Kohner, age 78 of DuBois, PA died Friday, November 1, 2019 at his home. Born on November 29, 1940 in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of the late Edgar and Tatiana (Chiliapin) Kohner. On February 17, 2006, he married Yola (Amitrone) Nolan. She survives. Ted served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a self-employed home contractor. Previous to that, he had worked in the laboratory for the Behavioral Science Department at the University of Connecticut. Ted was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church in Buffington, South Carolina where he sang in the choir and played guitar in the Charismatic Group. He was professional photographer and did missionary work in Russia. He is survived by 4 children; (Gary, Sandy and Misha Kohner and Fedja Kainer), 4 step chidren; (Teresa Matthews, Michele Hosband, Jaqueline Sanko and Sean Nolan), 1 sister (Lydia L.Berati), 1 niece, 1 nephew and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born on January 8, 1966, in DuBois, he was the son of George and Carol (Dunlap) Downer. They survive and live in DuBois. On September 20, 1997, he married Anastasia M. (Suplizio) Downer. She survives. Chris was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a Quality Control Engineer at Gasbarre Products. He was a member of the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department Friendship Hose Company #2 and was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and playing the drums. Above all, he loved his grandchildren.
