His grandparents Willard and Myrtle had a cabin on the lake, and he and his brothers would spend summers at the lake being spoiled, catching fish, woodworking, and enjoying the beauty of WI. On July 20, 1969, they spent the evening gazing at the moon, his grandfather skeptical of the event, but the boys were captivated by the lunar landing. This joy was later matched by watching the Cubs win the World Series. Later in life, he pursued his art of photography, living on a ranch in Canon City, Colorado but longed to return to the quiet of the Midwest. He found peace and solace at his new home in Ridgway, with his love, Christine, enjoying the quiet evenings, feeding his birds, growing plants, and watching the fireflies.
