Joseph E. Masonis, Jr., Age 53 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on November 23, 1969 in DuBois, PA. he was the son of Joseph E. Masonis Sr. of DuBois, PA and Karen L. (Beam) Henry of Rockton, PA. Joe was a well-known car salesman in our area for many years and was a bartender at the Friendly Tavern and the Pulaski Club as well as other establishments around DuBois. He was a member of the Sandy Hose Company # 1 Fireman's Club and the Curwensville Moose Club. Joe loved participating in fantasy sports leagues with his family and friends and loved to go for Sunday car rides with Sandy. Joe was a well know, loveable guy with a quick wit and infectious smile. He will be missed by all but his legacy will live on thru organ donation. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a fiancé, Sandy Bailor of DuBois, PA and her children Joshua & Danielle, a brother, Jamey Masonis & his fiancé Charleen of DuBois, PA , his step-father Mark Henry of Rockton, PA, a niece Morgan, and a nephew Derek. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4 - 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Mike Sackash, age 95 of Sykesville, PA died Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home. He was born on May 17,1928 in Hastings, PA, the son of the late Mike and Anna (Bodner) Sackash. On June 17, 1950, he married his wife of 64 years, Mary Lou (Crooks) Sackash. Mike was in the U.S. Navy, based in Banana River, Florida. After the Navy, he worked at L.B. Smith and Company in Sykesville until 1968 when he began working at Berg Electronics in Clearfield, PA. The company was purchased by DuPont and Mike continued working there until his retirement in 1991. Mike was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Sykesville. He was an active community member of the Sykesville Lion’s Club, a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, a Little League Coach, and supported Teener and Federation Ball teams in the Sykesville Area. He managed the Sykesville Town Hall for many years. He was the Sykesville Man of the Year in 1977. Mike is survived by a son, Michael, of Houston, TX and granddaughters, Erin Sackash Duncan and her husband, Vincent Duncan (Dallas, TX) and Jill Sackash Maynard and her husband Richard Maynard (Richmond, TX). Great grandchildren Jake Maynard, Dax Maynard, Audrey Duncan, Catherine Duncan and Reese Duncan, one daughter, Marsha Sackash, of Boalsburg, PA, and son, Mark Sackash, and his wife, Lorraine (Sample) of DuBois, PA, grandsons, Mark J. Sackash, Jr. and wife Kendra of Katy, TX and Jed Sackash of DuBois, PA, great grandchildren Kaelyn and Kellyn Sackash, and his sisters, Catherine Butkewich of Sykesville and Lillian Gilga of Sykesville. Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, and nine of his siblings, Anna Foradori, Dorothy Rimer, Sophie Kennis, Verna Minns, George Sackash, Mary Gresock, Dolly Pindrock, Henry (Sonny) Sackash, and Eugene (Butch) Sackash. His passions in life were his family, the community, gardening, Penn State Football, golfing, church, hunting and fishing. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 10:00 am from the Grace United Methodist Church in Sykesville, PA with Pastor Jacob Penvose officiating. George T. Neilson, Age 91 of DuBois, PA died Friday, May 19, 2023 at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Born on August 11, 1931 in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Peter H. & Lena A. (Gearhart) Neilson. On February 20, 1960, he married Laurinda J. Schmuck Neilson. She preceded him in death on , March 30, 2015. George was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Brockway Glass Company in 1996 and previous to that had worked at Osburn Machine Shop for 18 years. George was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brookville. He enjoyed reading his bible and above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. George is survived by his children; Callie Alta Lynch and her husband, Patrick of Smyrna, GA, Jorja Yasovsky of DuBois, PA and Paul E. Neilson and his wife, Yvonne of Ridgway, PA; 8 grandchildren; Malorie, Corey, Brandon, Stephanie, Caitlyn, Andrew, Abby, and Erin; & three great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Milo and Luna. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi Marie Holtz, a granddaughter, Cynthia Neilson, two sisters, and six brothers. James W. “Jim” Wilbert, age 82 of DuBois, PA died Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on May 25, 1940 in Cabot, PA, he was the son of the late Earl J. and Catherine (McGee) Wilbert. On November 5, 1994 he married Barbara J. Tubbs Hanes Wilbert. She survives. Jim retired in 1981 from Pullman Standard in Butler, PA after 19 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. Jim was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 519, a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post #17 , and the James J. Patterson Post # 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jim belonged to the Pulaski Club and the Olympic Athletic Club as well as several other clubs in our area. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his four-wheeler. He is survived by his children (James “Wil” Wilbert of Sarasota, FL, Julie Wilbert of Butler, PA, and Jackie Johnson of Kingsport, TN), step children (Deneen M. Hanes and her husband John of DuBois, PA, John F. Hanes and his wife Rhonda of Winston-Salem, NC and Diane McMahon and her husband Tom of DuBois, PA), four grandchildren (Helen Marie, Alisa, Amber and Anna), six step grandchildren (Dylan, Erin, MacKenzie, Elle, Shae and Rafael), four great grandchildren, two sisters( Dorothy Duffy and Carolyn McGrady), and two brothers (Tom and Denny Wilbert). Kenneth R. Bill, Sr. age 82 of Falls Creek, PA, formerly of Saddle Brook, NJ, died Monday, May 15, 2023 at Knickerbocker Villa. Born on July 13, 1940 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Maurice and Catherine (Crean) Bill. On June 4, 1960 he married Rosemarie (Carlino) Bill. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2014. Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked as a butcher for Shop Rite in Rochelle Park, NJ for many years. Kenneth enjoyed riding motorcycles and woodworking, but above all, he was dedicated to his family. He is survived by three sons (Dr. Kenneth R. Bill, Jr. and his wife Dr. Joan Lee of Falls Creek, PA, Robert J. Bill of Queen Creek, AZ, and David R. Bill and his wife Kameron of Ivoryton, CT), and three grandchildren (Ashley, Ryan and Michael Bill). He was also preceded in death by one brother (Maurice Theodore Bill). Eleanor C. “Cloe” Haky, age 80 of Sykesville, PA died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born on June 18, 1942 in Sykesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Kulick) Mehok. On August 24, 1963 she married Leo James Haky. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2017. Eleanor retired after 45 years of service as an Administrative Assistant with the Law Firm of Hanak, Guido and Taladay. She was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church and served on the Sykesville Library Board of Directors. She loved to read books, and she loved to put puzzles together with her friends Betty and Dee. Eleanor enjoyed her Monday Mahjong game with Judy, Patty and Olga and her Wednesday exercise class. She especially loved going to the casino. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and being “Gigi” to her great grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her children (Shannon Shaffer and her husband Brian of DuBois, PA and Michael Haky and his wife Karen of Cranberry Township, PA), six grandchildren (Briana Carr, Josh Krach, Isaac Haky, Ben Shaffer, Sarah Daltorio and Megan Switzer), four great grandchildren (Khloe and Delilah and Kyle and Jamie), one brother (Robert Mehok and his wife Carol Jean of Sykesville, PA), and one sister (Martha Zimmerman and her husband Doug of State College, PA) and many nieces and nephews that she cared deeply for and was referred to as “Aunt” by many. She was preceded in death by her daughter (Marcia Haky Snyder on May 7, 2023) and two brothers (John Mehok and his wife Bainie and James Mekok and his wife Donna). Eileen Swope, age 77 of Luthersburg, PA died Monday, May 15, 2023 at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital. Born on May 17, 1945 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ronald F. and Mary Martha (Galentine) Swope. Eileen retired as an inspector from ELCAM in DuBois after many years of service. She enjoyed all animals, especially her cat Ginger. She loved to feed the birds and photograph wildlife. Eileen is survived by two sisters, (Annabelle Brubaker and Linda Kunselman both of DuBois, PA), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, (Mary Akin and Gwendolyn Turnbull) and one brother, (Ronald F. Swope). James R. “Jim” Horner, Age 72 of Reynoldsville, PA died Monday, May 15, 2023 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on June 22, 1950 in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late William and Muriel (Snyder) Horner. On August 14, 1971, he married his wife of 51 years, Barbara S. (Klingensmith) Horner. She survives. Jim was a 1969 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He retired after 40 years of service from the Reynoldsville Borough Street Department. Jim was a member of the Reynoldsville Presbyterian Church and the Reynoldsville Eagles where he had served as a trustee. He was active in the Reynoldsville Falcons Midget Football Association for over 30 years, touching the lives of many boys and girls in the Reynoldsville Area. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and going to the beach with his family. Above all, he loved to spend time with his pride and joy, Jacie. He is survived by a daughter (Amy Jo Bash & her husband Beau of Falls Creek, PA); a granddaughter (Jacie Jo Bash), a brother (Gary Horner & his wife Debbie of Greensburg, PA); a sister-in-law (Karen Horner of Reynoldsville, PA); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bink” Horner, and a nephew, Douglas Horner. Sandra L. Morgan, age 76 of Luthersburg, PA died Monday, May 15, 2023 at her home. Born on March 24, 1947 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Arlene (Wells) Marsh, Sr. On March 25, 1966 she married her husband of 57 years, Willard E. Morgan, Jr. He survives. She was a 1965 graduate of the DuBois Area High School where she was a majorette. Sandy was a homemaker and had previously worked for the United States Post Office in both Luthersburg and Rockton, PA. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, the Reynoldsville Eagles and a life member of the Sandy Hose Company #1 Fireman’s Club. Sandy loved to dance and sing karaoke and was an animal lover. She is survived by her children (Wendy Whaling and her husband Jeff of Brookville, PA and Chad E. Morgan and his wife Diane of Conway, SC), two grandchildren (Chantel E. Whaling of New Bethlehem, PA and Dalton J. Donald J. Godak, Age 79 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home. Born on July 8, 1943 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Canton) Godak. On November 8, 1975, he married his wife of 48 years, Marlene T. (Peleski) Godak. She survives. Don worked at Jackson China Company in Falls Creek until its closing and then went on to work for Penn Highlands Behavioral Health until his retirement in 2020. Don was a people person and enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, loved working in his yard, and washing his truck. Don took great pride in his well-known immaculate yard and his clean vehicles. Don was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Godak. Kay Boyd-Rowe, age 60 of DuBois, PA died Friday, May 12, 2023 at her home after a 24-year battle with cancer. Born on June 23, 1962 in Emporium, PA, she was the daughter of Karl E. Burkhouse and Sue (Martin) Duby. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives and lives in Emporium, PA. On August 15, 2002, she married her husband of over 20 years, Robin ”Raboon” Rowe. He survives. Kay retired from First Commonwealth Bank as a Senior Corporate Sales Assistant after many years of service. Kay loved Jesus and was a living testimony to everyone she knew. She taught everyone to love first. Her faith in Christ, and her love of her husband, family, and friends brought joy and peace as she would never allow cancer to define her. Kay beat cancer by how she lived, why she lived, and the manner in which she lived. She loved her community and had been active in the Down to Earth Garden Club, the Downtown Revitalization Group and the Tri County Church. Kay was also a past member of the DuBois Jaycees. She enjoyed flowers and bird watching with her husband and surrounded herself with friends and family always. Her greatest joy however was being “NiNi’ to her “KK”. Kay is survived by her son, Austin Boyd of Brockway, PA; two brothers , Fred Burkhouse & Steve Duby, both of Emporium, PA; and her beloved granddaughter, McKayla Boyd. There will be no public visitation. A celebration of Kay’s life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. from the Tri County Church with Pastor Chris Trethewey officiating. Marcia L. Haky Snyder, Age 56 of Reynoldsville, Pa died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital. Born On January 5, 1967 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of Leo J. and Eleanor (Mehok) Haky. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives and lives in Sykesville, PA. Marcia was a well-known server at various local restaurants She enjoyed planting flowers and watching football and she especially loved going to the casino with her mother and her friends. Above all, Marcia simply loved being with her family. She is survived by her loving companion of 15 years, Les Gordon; a son, Joshua L. Krach of Cranberry Township, PA; a sister, Shannon Shaffer & her husband Brian of DuBois, PA; a brother, Michael Haky & his wife Karen of Cranberry Township, PA; three nieces, Briana, Megan, & Sarah; two nephews, Ben & Isaac; two great nieces, Khloe & Delilah; and two great nephews, Kyle & Jamie. Dolores “Jean” Hilliard Garskie, age 89 of Hopewell Township, PA, formerly of the DuBois and Helvetia area died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford, PA Born on August 16, 1933 in Helvetia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Grace A. (Troutman) Hilliard. On July 20, 1957 she married her husband of 52 years, Frank E. Garskie. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2009. Jean was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Hopewell Township, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Association. She, along with her husband, was active in the Hopewell Area Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jean considered herself an “amateur florist” and always had the nicest wreaths and decorations in the neighborhood. She also loved to play bingo with her friends. Jean is survived by one daughter (Michele Garskie of Gibsonia, PA), two brothers (William “Red” Hilliard of Troutville, PA and Terry Hilliard of DuBois, PA), and her grand dog Buddy. She was preceded in death by two brothers (Richard and Jack Hilliard) and one sister (Dorothy Marie Hilliard). Robert “Jeffrey” Passmore, age 40 of DuBois, PA, died Saturday, May 6,2023 at Christ the King Manor. Born on October 6, 1982 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late David and Mary Jo (Couse) Passmore. Jeffrey was a 2001 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He worked as a commercial carpenter, a valve technician and a District Manager for Weatherford Well Head. Jeffrey was a member of the Falls Creek Eagles. He was a coach for the Reynoldsville Little League and also the Reynoldsville Falcons. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was an avid fan off the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by two children (Eric and Easton Passmore both of Reynoldsville, PA), siblings ( JoEllen Caldwell of DuBois, PA, Shawn Passmore and his wife Tammy of Erie, PA, Brian Passmore and his wife Julie of DuBois, PA and Sandra Stiffler and her husband Ken of Erie, PA). Frank L. Michelini, Age 89 of Force, PA died Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home. Born on April 18, 1934 in Force, PA, he was the son of the late Guido and Tosca (Cenni) Michelini. On August 1, 1959 he married his wife of 61 years, Ann M. (Cameroni) Michelini. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2020. He was a 1952 graduate of the Bennetts Valley High School and a 1956 graduate of St. Bonaventure University. After college, Frank served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Frank was the owner and operator of the Force Garage for many years. He also owned and operated Michelini Bus Company for 21 years and had driven bus for his father for many years. Frank was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the Bennetts Valley Lions Club, the Bennetts Valley American Legion and the Bennetts Valley Senior Citizens. Frank was the recipient of the 2022 Bennetts Valley Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. He was also member of the Sons & Daughters of Italy Brockway Lodge 33. Frank loved music and dancing. He played the accordion and the saxophone in his orchestra, “The Moonlight Serenaders”. Frank played basketball and baseball in high school and loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed watching all sports and had a passion for both classic and Sports Cars. Genevieve, (Debbie), Yotter passed to a new life May 1, 2023 at age 96. Born to Sydney and Charity Lockwood on January 11, 1927, mother had a long and interesting life. Mother stated many times since dad passed that she was ready to go. She died peacefully while in a coma from a stroke. Priscilla sang mom on her way with her favorite hymns. Priscilla does not sing well, but neither did Mother, so it seemed fitting. It was fortunate Deb had not used her operatic voice as she would have sung the entire floor to the other side. Mom married Dad not long after he returned from the Pacific theater during WW2. They quickly fulfilled the American family ideal of one daughter and son, but only 11 months after Chris, Jr. was born, Mother had several nightmares that she was pregnant with triplets. She, at age 24, told Dad of her dreams. The dreams were prophetic and 7 months later, very premature, identical triplet girls were born. At age 25, Mother was suddenly overwhelmed with 5 children under the age of five, 4 of whom were in diapers. Mom's mother, Charity, did not live close-by, but hired her sister-in-law, Carmelo, to help Mother. This may have saved Mother's life. In the last several years of mom's life, she often said she was so grateful to have had help from several family members. Dad changed jobs after the triplets' birth so as not to travel so much. The new job moved the family first to Baltimore and then Winter Park, Florida. Though born in Pennsylvania, Mom spent the happiest part of her life in Florida, which she considered her heart state. Mom and Dad lived in Central Florida for 35 years until he retired from Lockheed-Martin and she from her career as a site monitor at a senior citizen meals program. She loved her job and was almost always on time for it, a Herculean feat for her. Her experience working with seniors was a real aid to her when she became one herself, as she was an "expert" on every quirk of hers that she attributed to advancing age. Unfortunately, by the time she was past senior and into elderly stage, she was also past taking any advice she had given her seniors. Mother was fortunate to have had a career that she really loved. When Mom and Dad moved back to Pennsylvania, Mom had bits of Florida sand under her finger nails, but she figured it was Dad's turn to choose a geographical location. She and dad stayed active in the Episcopal and Lutheran churches in Dubois, Pennsylvania. They had numerous friends and relatives with whom they maintained an active social life. Mother returned to Florida following Dad's death. Though grieving Dad, it was a joy for her to get back to Florida. Before working for the school board as a site manager, Mother spent the majority of her time being overwhelmed with having five children under the age of five. As the children became older, she became heavily involved in politics and was a very active member of the Episcopal church. Mother worked on trying to acquire a more robust sense of humor and demonstrated her bit of success once when her liberal-democrat daughter asked her what she wanted for her birthday. Mother replied, "For you to register Republican." Her daughter looked at her in disbelief as mother started laughing and said, "See, I am getting a sense of humor. " Mother enjoyed her 96 years of life; some might conjecture that her longevity was due in part to the excess exercise she had when young, running after us. As the daughter of a coal miner, mother was always astounded that she had traveled as widely as she had and had participated in so many interesting activities and events. Mother often brought up how far she had come from her beginnings. Not in an egotistical way, but as a expression of gratitude and wonder. Mother is preceded in death by just about everyone. But to name a few, her husband, Chris Yotter Senior, her son, Chris Yotter, Jr., a sister, Patricia Lockwood, both brother-in-laws, her parents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. As said before, pretty much everyone. She is survived by her sister, Jo Morelli, four daughters, Deborah Oriel, (John), Patricia Yotter, Pauline Carroll, and Priscilla Yotter. Grandchildren, Tammy, Matthew, Tracy, Diane, Donald and Michelle. And great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, regular and great. Mother was often overwhelmed as a parent of 5 very strong-willed children and a husband who suffered from PTSD (though that problem was not talked about then), for many years at the start of their 66-year marriage, but she continued to have faith in God and belief in a life in the hereafter. Larry E. “Buzzy” Buskirk, age 66 of DuBois, PA, died Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Born on January 2, 1957 in Brockway, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde J. and Ann Leona (Truesdale) Buskirk. Buzzy was the longtime bartender at the Olympic Athletic Club in DuBois, PA. He is survived by his children (Erin Bennett and her husband Chris and Kevin Hyde both of Reynoldsville, PA), siblings (Nancy Baummer of Sykesville, PA, Liz Radzavich and her husband David of Reynoldsville, PA, and John Buskirk of DuBois, PA), two grandchildren (Courtney and Molly) and one great grandchild (Jeramiah). Emily D. Fairman, age 80 of DuBois, PA died Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born on December 12, 1942 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth A. and Thelma (Mann) Shaw. On April 21, 1961 she married William S. Fairman, III. He preceded her in death on October 7, 2015. She was a graduate of the DuBois Business College. Emily, along with her husband Bill, owned and operated Fairman Farm in DuBois for over 60 years. Fairman’s was well-known throughout the area for their famous sweet corn and Farm Market. Emily loved to meet her customers both new and old and always greeted them with a friendly smile and conversation. She also helped many in our community thru the Farm Market. Emily is survived by 3 sons (Scott Fairman and his wife Gail; Rod Fairman and his wife Lesley; and Shawn Fairman and Paula Zameroski, all of DuBois, PA) six grandchildren (Kayla Horting, Kaitlyn Grim, Scott C. Fairman, Dr. Jordan Fairman, VMD and Austin and Landon Fairman), nine great grandchildren (Madison, Caden and Hadley Horting, Kolton and Kinleigh Grim, and Lane, Landry, Lorelai and Lyla Fairman), and one sister (Anne Shaw of Sharon, PA). Suzanne M. Tressler, age 61 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital surrounded by her family. Born on March 26, 1962 in Lorain, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late David F. & Nancy A. (Noker) Duttry. On June 29, 1985, she married James E. “Jim” Tressler, Jr. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2020. Sue spent her career in sales administration, where she enthusiastically supported her customers. Known for her loving heart and willingness to watch over others and tend to their needs, Sue was often thought of as a loving “mother hen.” She enjoyed watching true crime, soaking in the summer sun, gardening, sewing, and playing piano. When afforded the opportunity, Sue often hosted gatherings, welcoming family and friends. She was a member of the DuBois YMCA where she enjoyed group and aquatic fitness classes. Sue frequented Tri-County Church of God where she volunteered for the coffee club. Sue is survived by three daughters, Melanie McCabe and husband Joseph of Ft. Wayne, IN, Heather Cherry and husband Stephen of Pittsburgh, PA, Miranda Tressler and her fiancé Matthew Joines of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Olivia, Trinity, Joseph “Anton,” and Troy; three siblings, Gladine Cooper and husband Merritt of DuBois, PA, Elizabeth Palmer and her husband Richard, and Irene Demich and her husband Raymond, both of Lorain, OH. Dorothy M. Hendricks, age 83 of Rockton, PA died Thursday, April 27, 2023 at her home. Born on July 6, 1939 in Coalport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Ruth (Bloom) Swauger. On May 14, 1957, she married Daniel E. Hendricks. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2015. Dorothy had worked at Rola Jensen and Foodland and then worked until her retirement at DuBois Deposit Bank. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockton, PA. Dorothy is survived by her children (Richard E. Hendricks, Jeffrey D. Donald J. Morelli, age 88 of Brockport, PA died Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home. Born on June 2, 1934 in Dagus Mines, PA, he was the son of the late Tulio and Mary (Corn) Morelli. On December 31, 1952, he married his wife of 70 years, Josephine W. (Lockwood) Morelli. She survives and lives in Brockport, PA. Donald retired from Owens Brockway as a supervisor after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Moorhead United Methodist Church in Brockway, PA and the Sons of Italy in Brockway, PA. Donald enjoyed hunting and gardening, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his son (Paul M. Morelli and his wife Diana of Brockport, PA), his daughter (Susan E. Homan and her husband Kenneth of DuBois, PA), four grandchildren (Lori and Andrew Morelli, Emmy Homan and Michele Vanish), and four great grandchildren (Joseph, Tiffany, Cameron and Sorren). He enjoyed working on his vehicles, fishing and he loved junk food. Robert A. Slade, age 83 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home. Born on September 2, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Ida (Scharf) Slade. On January 1, 2000, he married Cheryl D. Hawley Husted. She survives. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had worked as an over the road truck driver for 31 years and was affectionately known as “Hit and Run”. Robert was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Sandy Hose Company #1 Fireman’s Club and the Sykesville Eagles and was an avid collector of classic cars. He was the founder of Keep It Simple in Louisville, KY, a half-way house for people struggling with addictions, and had done volunteer work at Home of the Innocent, an organization that catered to abused children, also in Louisville, KY. Robert is survived by his children; (Robert Slade, Jr. of Louisville, KY, Melissa Slade, Christina Slade and Mark Slade all of Elmyra, NY), step children; (Clark Husted of DuBois, PA and Tracy Denison of Daytona Beach, FL), and one sister (Carol Pagio of Clermont, FL). He was preceded in death by one son (Fran Slade), one brother (George Slade) and one sister (Elaine Smith. Lawrence J. “Larry” Smiley, age 72 of Falls Creek, PA died Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at his home. Born on June 14, 1950 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Orville and Theresa “Toots” (Uhrin) Smiley. Larry was a graduate of DuBois Area High School Class of 1968. He went on to graduate from Williamsport Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. On June 4, 1983, he married Cathy D. (Moore) Smiley. Cathy and Larry would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in June. Larry worked for Copes Valcon in Erie, PA, then Speer Carbon Company in St. Marys, PA for 32 years. He also worked for Mid-State Amusement in DuBois, PA, RNI Trucking in Falls Creek, PA and Fran Morelli Bus Company in Brockway, PA. Larry was active in all sports his entire life including; hunting, fishing, wrestling, football and especially baseball. He played Little League, Teener League and Federation Ball for the Falls Creek Eagles. Along with his love of his family, he was also a devoted officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #965 in Falls Creek, PA for over 50 years. He loved life and lived it to the fullest until his health began to fail him a few short years ago. Larry was loved by his family and was called “Uncle Larry” by everyone. He will be missed by all. Larry is survived by one daughter (Megan Smiley of Pittsburgh, PA), two brothers (Robert Smiley and his wife Star of Falls Creek, PA and Patrick Smiley and his wife Peggy of DuBois, PA), numerous nieces and nephews that he loved, his good buddy and father-in-law, Charlie “Pappy” Moore and his beloved dog Ellie.
