  17. As we sat quietly watching the nest there was some little gnats and one fly that was pestering me constantly. When I looked at this picture I noticed that there was also a fly pestering the Momma. You can see it on her white cape. > Tom Dorsey
  18. Eclipse... a moment for the spirit to be in awe. Hiking with my eldest son on Tuesday, seeing and smelling the first Trailing Arbutus of the year....another spirit inspiring moment. Many years ago, we did a similar picture but now many years have passed and a full grown man walks by his father's side. As we did back then, we took a moment to remember his grandma...my mom because these were one of her favorite flowers. Tiny little flower holding enough fragrance to fill an entire room. Blessed moment and blessed memories. (April is also Autism awareness month... seemed fitting to post for my best pal too.) > Wildlife Journey Photography - Dave Bowser

  24. As I watched through the viewfinder, a captivating scene unfolded—the cardinal appeared to hover, her movements graceful and deliberate, in front of the mirror. This shift in his demeanor was both fascinating and poignant, suggesting a moment of recognition or perhaps confusion in the face of his own reflection. The idea that he might be on the cusp of realizing the mirror's true nature added a layer of depth to the encounter. Was he beginning to understand that the fierce rival he had been so ardently challenging was, in fact, himself? This question lingered in the air, as the delicate dance between bird and reflection evolved into a moment of potential self-awareness. The possibility that I was witnessing a wild creature confronting its own image, a scenario usually reserved for the realm of human experience, was a profound reminder of the intricate connections that weave through the tapestry of the natural world. My camera, ready to capture the outcome, was more than just a tool in that moment—it was a witness to the subtle and often unseen narratives that unfold around us, stories of discovery, identity, and the enigmatic nature of reflection. ... at Little Pine State Park. > John Green
  25. I was pretty happy to see this little Gold Crowned Kinglet fluttering around in the brush this morning as I sat along the river. I really didn't think he was going to give me a clear shot but eventually he slipped up and landed in a very small opening. That bright gold crown is easy to spot but it's still a challenge to photograph this little bird that doesn't even tip the scale to a half ounce. > Tom Dorsey
