John P. Catanzarito, 71 of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA died Friday, July 07, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 24, 1945 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Michael A. Catanzarito and Mary Louise (Stigers) Catanzarito.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

On March 4, 1967 in Sykesville, PA he married Connie (Henry) Catanzarito.  She survives.

John retired in 2005 from the State of Pennsylvania as an auditor.

John was an active member of Tri County Church and always knew how to “be the church” by serving and loving those around him as he strived to be more like Jesus every day.  John’s greatest joy was his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.  He and his wife Connie enjoyed traveling and since retirement have had the opportunity to vacation many places both nationally and internationally.  He was an avid hunter and collector of all things hunting and tools.  He was the first person you came to when you needed that hard to find item.  Those who knew John have witnessed his sense of humor and have probably been the brunt of one of his many jokes.

He is survived by three children (John Catanzarito and his wife Leslie of St. Francis, KY; Dana Johnson and her husband Jim of DuBois, PA; and Michael Catanzarito and his wife Jennifer of Ashland, OH) , 3 sisters (Frances Tattersall and her husband Dickson of Brookville, PA; Mary Lou McConnaughey and her husband Dave and Kate Kyser and her husband Joel both of Punxsutawney, PA) 3 brothers (Michael Catanzarito and his wife Phyllis of Northeast,MD; Joe Sutton and his wife Donna and Dominic Catanzarito and his wife Becky both of Punxsutawney, PA), 6 grandchildren (Haley, Brooke and Judah Catanzarito; Brady, Zach and Karley Johnson).

Visitation will be Monday, July 10, 2017 from 4 – 8 P.M. from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11 A.M. from the Tri County Church with Pastor Chris Trethewey and Pastor Dan Smith co-officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Tri County Church, 1881 Old 255 Road, DuBois, PA  15801.
