Jack E. “Swede” Peterson, age 88 of Orient Ave., DuBois, PA died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born on December 28, 1928 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Fred E. & Clara V. (Pierce) Peterson. 

On August 25, 1950, he married Barbara “Bubbles” (Smyers) Peterson.  She survives.

He served in the United States Army Air Corps.

Swede was a superintendent for various construction companies in the DuBois Area for over 50 years.

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois where he had served as an elder.  He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat.  Swede was a past member of DuBois City Council, and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and his family.

He is survived by a daughter (Peggy Wilson & her husband Richard of DuBois, PA) a son (Gary Peterson & his wife Lesley of Round Hill, VA) a brother (Charles Peterson & his wife Pinky of DuBois, PA) 5 grandchildren (Brian Wilson, of DuBois, PA, heather Wilson of Alaska, and Kelly Peterson, Kacie Barton, & Andrew Peterson, all of Virginia.) and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers (Arnold & Fred Peterson) and 3 sisters (Virginia Haines, Jean Wachob, & Elaine Flick)

There will be no public visitation.

A private family service will be held from the First United Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be placed with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Western Pennsylvania, RE: JACK PETERSON, 810 River Ave., Suite 100, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
