Phylis M. Klar, age 99 of Falls Creek, PA went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Christ the King Manor.

Born on October 25, 1922 in Falls Creek, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Lotus A. (Bullers) Yount.

On December 28, 1943, she married Paul G. Klar. She was predeceased by him on May 2, 1982.

Phylis was a 1940 graduate of the Falls Creek High School and resided most of her life in Falls Creek.

She retired from Brockway Glass in 1986 where she had worked as a supervisor for over 37 years. At the time, Phylis was the first female supervisor in the company.

Phylis was a member of DuBois Area Historical Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Falls Creek and Christ the King Auxillary. She loved music and played her piano every day while singing hymns. She sang and served as Vice President with the Community Christian Choir for many years, and she also shared her vocal talent with the Sweet Adelines, The Crystalaires Quartet, and church choirs.

She enjoyed reading and knitting and was a skilled seamstress. Through the years, she knitted and donated a large number of sweaters to the Guidepost Missions for children and prayer shawls for those in nursing care.  Phylis also served on and helped organize the Falls Creek School Reunions for many years.

Phylis battled polio in her childhood and persevered through many struggles. This however did not stop her from pushing through life and enjoying years of family time, hard work, church, and social activities as well as travels. She was a wealth of information and details and had connections with people everywhere she went, always talking and making conversation. She was the last surviving member of her immediate Yount family. Phylis lived a long life and with God's strength and her willpower, she almost made it to 100.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Phylis is survived by a son (Robert “Robin” Klar and his wife Carol of Walkertown, NC), a daughter (Rebecca “Beccie” Lusk & her husband Louis “Bink” of Mount Juliet, TN), 4 grandchildren (Ryan (Shannon) & Kristen Klar, and Andrew (Caroline) & Diana Lusk), and 3 great grandchildren (Ciara Klar and Eli & Everly Lusk).

She was also predeceased by her grandson (Christopher Lusk), 3 sisters (Lucille Clarke, Betty Dely, and Donna Indre), and 2 brothers (Arthur Yount & Dean Willar).

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 PM from the funeral home with Pastor Harold Hills officiating.

Burial will follow in Beechwoods Cemetery
